Possibly in defiance of the recession, there seem to be more music festivals set to take place this year than ever before. Had you said this to me a year ago, I would have doubted its possiblity. Yet, 2009 is a year for startling revelations: line-ups announced earlier than ever, old-skool heroes reuniting and credit-crunch beating ticket offers clubland more than it could possibly want or need.

In the Scottish terrioties, Hot Chip and Danny Rampling have both been confirmed to headline DJ sets at the Wickerman Festival. Already on the light-head inducing line-up are the likes of The Human League, Billy Bragg, Utah Saints and breaks-mastero Meat Katie.

Plus just the otherside of the border, Serbia’s Exit Festival has confirmed another raft of DJs including Sebastian Ingrosso, Kissy Sell Out and Steve Angello.
