Longshendao Wins Big At The 3rd Annual Midi Award Live
One of the biggest nights in China’s music business with 13 Midi “Bricks” are awarded to the best rock music and bands of the year

Musicians and the music fans alike will not soon forget the 3rd Annual Midi Awards Live that took place at Beijing’s Tango 3F. The awards might is one of the biggest nights in China’s music business where thirteen Midi “Bricks” Awards – representing “Love and Peace” – are awarded to the best rock music and bands of the year.

Longshendao was the big winner of the night, grabbing not only the “Best Rock Performance”, but also “Album of the Year” Awards. Hao Yun won the first ever “Best Folk Music” Award, while GALA’s popular song

“Zhuimengchizixin” was awarded the “Song of the Year”.

Thousands of fans packed the 3rd floor of Tango with their enthusiasm, almost giving the feel of a mini-version of a Midi Music Festival. The hosts included famed music producer Wang Di and former vocal and guitarist of Cobra, Xiao Nan. The star-studded performance lineup stirred up the excitement of the fans with a motley of music styles.

Steely Heart opened the show with their brand of disco-punk, followed by CMCB who rapped the floor away. Hao Yun surprised the Folk fans with his blues harmonica and Chinese traditional strings… “like a breeze of fresh air”. Liquid Oxygen Tin performed metal music tinged with oriental flavor. Reggae band Longshendao shook the floor with their masterpieces “Yaobai”, “Yongbao” and “Manmanfei”. While Ordnance wasn’t able to make the event, VooDoo KungFu brought in a little darkness with their “Dark Age” music, triggering the climax of Pogo dancing in the audience. Luo Qi ended the Midi Award Live show with her classic Hard Rock songs “Suixinsuoyu” and “Woshiyizhixiaoxiaoniao”.

“The Midi Award is a bridge to connect with the rock music fans, a stage for the best musicians to receive a well-earned round of applause,” said Zhang Fan, the headmaster of Beijing Midi School of Music. “I hope the rock music in China can get more support, and our musicians more encouragement in the future.”
