All Ageism In America Isn’t Unwarranted

Current Trends by Natasha Sapp

It’s time to face the fact that with America’s aging population it may have an equally growing, unaddressed senility problem… it is to explain why America’s aged, elderly, older populations aren’t venerated in the same way they are throughout Asia and other parts of the world, there isn’t that same level of respect found in highlighted other places, hint it isn’t a youth obsessed culture and steady consumption of celebrity, entrainment magazines, reality TV. That there is a fundamental explanation for how Americas older demographic is treated, why the stereotype of being dumped in a nursing home and forgotten still persists; again it isn’t ungrateful children pawning off their supposed to be loved one onto professional caregivers sans a second thought, too focused on their own career, dreams and goals to be bothered with their increasingly infirmed parent(s). We’ve been sounding off for years about the mass baby boomer retirement and what it meant for everything from the workforce, to social programs, to their children, regularly referred to as the sandwich generation caught between caring for their own budding, growing families and attempting to care for their aging parents; facing tough economic times often unable to move back to their childhood home, in a different city, county, state, unable to afford to have them move in to their small rented apartment, home. Alongside warnings, cautions about needed preparations to handle our rapidly expanding aged population are exposés, number projections on Alzheimer’s, dementia, cognitive impairment’s devastating impact on older citizens and what it means in terms of caring for them as their disease progresses yet their body elsewise remains intact. But once more that’s just a primer to where we currently are leading into the larger point, those people walking around, obviously older, though not extremely so, who are presumed to have all their faculties and functions, show no blatant signs they are suffering from any cognitive difficulty, dementia, forget Alzheimer’s, unless you are a doctor making said diagnostics all day through a standard work week, people who would be thought of as sources of wisdom, dispensers of sage advice in other cultures repeatedly acting more childish than their generation younger counterparts here. While some are representing a new, nuanced stage of vitality, redefining what it means to be age X in America today, there are those remaining stock examples against raising the retirement age, against elevating social security/Medicare eligibility ages, because they plainly, from a cognitive standpoint can’t do the job they’ve done for 30 years instead are prone to bizarre, obnoxious, bordering on criminally disruptive behavior. Frequent readers will perhaps recognize the train of thought here having at least skimmed my pieces on, who exactly is the entitled generation, depictions of older citizens behaving badly, causing scenes, seemingly incapable of following the basic rules and directions governing a civil society; what video sharing sites like YouTube have done in the era of millennial, young people bashing showcasing Girls Gone Wild escapades, hedonistic spring breaks, unabashed drug use, proudly published fights is to equally display, to anyone interested, the growing quantity of videos featuring older people unable to simply wait their turn in a line, and it isn’t due to wobbly legs and walkers, pained joints, who have out of control fits when told the price of renewing a driver’s license/state ID (under 12.50), surprised and upset by standard banking policies such as the fee extracted for cashing the check of a non-account holder, needing to have your ID to conduct account business and it must be current, not expired. Supposedly to be venerated adults ranting about the abysmal lack of respect present among younger people primarily because they didn’t preface their question to the senior person on the street, ahead in line with sir or ma’am; discounting the number of women who don’t like to be referred to as ma’am making them feel old, men who dislike being addressed Mr. and their last name by, even casual work acquaintances, often relaying it makes them begin looking for their dad, seeking to carve out their own identity, men or women either one who directly ask people to call them by their first name, the loved community member everyone calls aunt, auntie and their name, uncle and their name, again by request. As likely to have a mini nervous breakdown because someone was rude to them, who behave as if they will spontaneously combust, as if their world will end, their life is over if someone mildly disrespects them, whether that was their intention or not. Because the younger person, who is of age themselves, 40 year old confronted by 70 year old let’s say, simply refuses to be ordered around by stranger X recognizing they too are grown, functional adults and have the right to make choices within the law same as the older person, both do not exist solely to make life easier for the other…What’s been missing up to now, even in my own works attempting to prove young people are no worse now than generations before, are no more or less in their feelings of ‘entitlement’ than people at least twice their age, repeatedly less so, is the core why behind it. Overshadowing generation engrained, cultural norm engrained paradigms encompassing the roughly 2 decades comprising their child and early adulthoods causing now older adults to think and behave a certain way, is instead senility, cognitive decline and never treated mental illnesses afflicting staggering percentages in poorer pockets of the country stigmatized by seeking treatment, persons over 50 who haven’t had access to common practice mental health management, far from cutting edge mental health treatment, leaving us sizeable portions of the population foggy, confused and emotionally unstable… Yes the mayor’s comments below are reprehensibly repugnant, not the least of which because he is a public official, also called a public servant meant to represent, advocate the public interest of people in his city, and astoundingly reaching new heights on the hypocritical scale precisely because he is of advanced age himself, a few short years away from the adult diapers and care facilities he denigrates, but equally because he attacks the disabled as well, calling them not full human beings owing to their physical, developmental delays, openly asking what good were they. However his comments aren’t a result of how little value we assign to aged persons in our society, how little we honor and respect older persons, the vast knowledge accumulated throughout a lifetime, things they could teach younger citizens, guiding them during major stages of life common to all human beings. In fact he stands an example of the exact opposite, exactly why we don’t respect our elders as much as other westernized, non-westernized cultures, directly because they do and say things identical to video 1 below, our ranting mayor in all his shameful glory…Keeping in mind there’s a long history of such deplorable behaviors, actions surpassing the mayor’s America, worldwide across modern decades; he’s just our best latest citizen X case, low level politician who should be capable of doing marginal good sans corruption added to celebrities, known names having reasons to be in front of cameras to fall from grace…Leading to the logical question we’re supposed to venerate and respect that, what the latter administrator struggled to explain as an extreme lack of judgement; we’re expected to revere the teacher (71) who kicked over a pre-school special needs child, either carelessly or callously on purpose, in view of school surveillance cameras, or another who literally grabbed and picked up, slamming against the wall, next grabbing by the face a kindergartener coming out of the bathroom, again in ready view of school surveillance she had to know was there and for what, forgetting to ask permission before going to the bathroom, taking too long? Who likewise remembers the California school where the entire staff had to be replaced after a photo print shop stumbled onto sexual abuse including duct taping elementary age kids’ eyes and mouths closed, letting roaches call across their faces and putting his seamen on crackers forcing them to eat it? Think that video is 5 years old and irrelevant, how many people were exposed to have turned a blind eye in the Jerry Sandusky disaster; we just had a 50 year old teacher run off with, probably kidnap, his 15 year old student, how about the gymnastics doctor (53) who apparently spent years sexually abusing underage U.S. gymnastics participants disguised as medical care, massage for muscle ailments while he used his fingers to penetrate their anus or vagina. Nightly news exposés sparked by investigative reporting originally published in the Atlanta Journal Constitution blowing the whistle on just how widespread and prevalent sexual abuse of patients by doctors is across America; male doctors fondling usually female patients while examining rashes, rubbing them in private areas, manipulating the patients hand to rub the doctor while coming out of anesthetic. A divorce lawyer, Michael Fine age 59, just made headlines after being convicted, serving 12 years, for hypnotizing his clients (6 total) in order to then fondle and molest them, absent knowledge or consent for anything that transpired, kidnapping with a sexual motivation; we certainly don’t want said behavior emulated, venerated and respected noting it’s 100% criminal, to say nothing of absolutely devastating to victims. Illustrations from largely one aspect of society alone proving why respecting your elders could land you in jail; that they hold some of our most trusted and sacred positions only multiplies their implied betrayal, added to the assumption age is supposed to bring wisdom, elders are supposed to look out for younger persons, help if they can…Bottom line some aged adults, senior citizens, in growing number percentages, aren’t revered, respected and venerated, doted on, because they don’t deserve it, if you behave/behaved like any of the people previously listed in the paragraph and more besides during your vital years, you aren’t being respected, sought after for advice, your every word hung on as if it were spewing forth from the oracle and Delphi, because you don’t deserve to be…Compounding general meanness, cattiness, pettiness, whose underlying cause may or may not be organic brain disease, early onset mental health problems identified under the definition sociopath, senility, dementia, cognitive impairment, mental instability does explain, better explain the nearly inexplicable racial rants conducted by older white Americans in restaurants, department stores, meltdowns in the grocery aisles, random Americans regularly called the Wal-Martians— individuals of all ages and the antics they get up to in Wal-Mart stores everywhere. Downright zany religious fervor, theories never covered in the bible, the most commonly referenced holy book, expounding, expanding on why people seem so utterly deluded by religion, explains spontaneous explosions of irrational anger and irritation indisputably caught on film. Too often seen is we get so caught up in what these deranged, entitled, worst of American, civil society people are doing we lose any deep thought attempting to answer why, if it is beyond poor upbringings, lack of manners, falling into stereotypes of crotchety old men, grouchy old women, what they said was racist, bigoted, homophobic motivated by religious doctrines, we stop there. Never putting together they fit a basic type: gray, white, salt and pepper hair, horrid documented behaviors extremely common in persons 50 to end of life but can be as young as approaching 40 usually when dealing with mental illness, early onset dementia symptoms, physical characteristics dumpy older women, squat older men, easily upset and confused by the world around them… Same factors playing a huge roll in select aspects of violence, armed militia type groups frequently dubbed y’all Qaeda by independent media, understanding Ammon Bundy is the son of Cliven Bundy taught mirroring anti-government sentiments by dear old dad; Bundy senior who became a household name because of a government land dispute, barricading himself and other group members onto seized lands where law enforcement later had to remove them, losing support of small government loving GOP members when he used his 15 minutes of fame to suddenly start commenting on black people… Enhancing that probability nationally, cases such as Robert Dear (57 at commission of crime) who yes mumbled rhetoric about save the babies, clearly impacted by the conservative reaction to anti-abortion propaganda videos used to try and derail, effectively shut down Planned Parenthood, yet also fitting a pre-attack pattern of withdrawing from society, living off the grid in remote dilapidated areas, secluded in the woods, restraining orders, altercations with the law, accusations of domestic violence, wild eyed, unkempt even in court, had numerous incoherent outbursts ultimately found mentally unfit to stand trial. John Russel Houser Louisiana movie theater shooter (59 at commission of crime/date of death) lock step with the pre-incident pattern detailed, wasn’t just older, showing his age in emerging facial wrinkles and graying hair; he had a history of run ins with the law, mental health evaluations, orders of protection placed against him by his own family, became steadily reclusive. Strongly indicating the swastika on his business building, growing fascination with Hitler and continued call in angry rants to his local radio station, writings stating he wanted to target police, government buildings was a manifestation of mental disease; hardly unheard of dual diagnosis encompassing cognitive impairment (dementia, Alzheimer’s proper,) and psychiatric, psychological disorder. As if wanting to do these things, actually following through, regardless your stated reason citing cases of Eliot Roger ‘the misogynist’ and Dylan Roof the ‘race war igniting racist’ doesn’t spell some kind of crazy by the very fact that it happened. Jason Brian Dalton (45), slightly younger, remains true to established patterns graying hair, visible aging, reports of problems at work, outbursts, described as having no conflict resolution skills, went from a stable job in customer service to a transient job driving an Uber, affording more downtime and isolation. When apprehended he claimed the Uber app ‘gave you an assignment,’ controlled his mind and body like artificial intelligence, ‘making him feel like a puppet’ compared the company logo, app symbol to a devil figure. During his court appearance he too had several outbursts resulting in him being literally carried out, removed from the courtroom as it witness broke down in hysterics seeing both him and his unpredictable behavior, eventually deemed fit to stand trial; a determination to be questioned, not because symptoms can’t be faked, people haven’t tried to hide behind ‘insanity’ to avoid jail, Ken Kesey did write One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, instead based on how he’s faking it… it, mental defects discussed, the insidious combo of mental disorder and dementia/senility explains, perhaps better than anything proposed to date, why Curtis Reeves, known for shooting the father of a toddler alleging he was hit with an unknown heavy object beforehand, was so apoplectic about cellphone use in that Florida movie theater, why he thought a bag of popcorn was a threat, because he wasn’t all there to begin with. Explains why one John Spooner thought shooting his teenage neighbor for allegedly stealing his guns, accusations he denied, said denial getting him unceremoniously, cold bloodedly killed, damming footage sealing his life in prison fate captured on his own home surveillance system, was somehow justifiable, he would avoid prison because ‘he didn’t mean to kill him.’ Examining recent news stories take the 51 year old Adam W. Purinton recently arrested shouting get out of my country to 2 men of Indian descent and a 3rd person immediately prior to opening fire on them, Trump supporter, voter but once more older, haggard, though missing common gray hair; 55 year old Rolando Cardenas openly identified by law enforcement as mentally ill allegedly responsible for a Las Vegas strip bus rampage killing one, after which he barricaded himself on the bus’s second floor, no discernable motive. Both mirroring, in age at least, the London shooter of parliament member Jo Cox, executed shortly before the Brexit vote, (52), shouting Brittan first before firing 2 shots, getting close enough to subsequently stab her too. Telling is cataloging differences between mental health, illness, disease treatment approaches there, throughout the U.K., Europe and here, it still yielded a similar type of violence; alluding to, if not a combination of physiological disturbance and age related cognitive impairment, senility, then age’s effect on physiological disturbance management and treatment, age’s effect, negatively, on psychological vulnerability, the psychologically vulnerable.Again it’s what set latter depicted persons off, echoing the previous paragraphs highlights only with dire consequences, devoid of fighting for your rights like Bundy thinks he is, fighting for a cause like Dear believed himself to be, mired in delusions the way Houser in retrospect was; opposite Kansas workplace shooter Cedric Ford sent over the edge by a restraining order to stay away from his girlfriend describing him in court papers as a man in need of a medical/psychological intervention, other workplace disputes dissolving into shootings where the person feared being fired or had been, the older man who sprayed a V for vendetta symbol on the wall of a school board meeting shouting about the loss of his sick wife’s job and along with her health insurance, huge life stressors known to stimulate mental instability. It’s small things, for Dalton a suspected wrong address fare pickup, for Curtis Reeves it was movie theater texting prior to start time, then when confronted calmly by his wife about the absurdity of his response to an annoyance and a heat of the moment thrown bag of popcorn, wagging his finger in her face telling her to shut the F- up; neighbor landscaping disputes ending in murder charges ‘gentleman’ in court doubling as a TV villain recounting documented altercations with the neighbor he eventually killed saying ‘stop cutting trees in a bone chillingly sinister voice…Want a lasting explanation to the craziness that is today’s American politics, look no further than those 4 categories of health problem; unfortunately what was until recently chalked up to Appalachia and southern living, isolated, willful, perpetual ignorance adding a healthy dose of lifetime religious indoctrination, spitting out extreme political stances at adds with a majority of Americans’ opinions, is likely brain disease… On some level we knew this referencing the debate performances ‘12 or ‘16 of Rick Perry expediently dubbing him Rick, does he need medication, is he too medicated Perry, the other famous political Rick, Rick ‘sanitarium’ Santorum given the moniker after several unusual statements claiming amniocentesis, used to test for birth defects, severe genetic abnormalities in utero lead to more abortion or that birth control was a license for teens, sexually active persons to do unnatural things i.e. premarital sex with a side jab at homosexuality thrown in. Still beside amusing and just assumedly ignorant displays came clearly mentally unwell Christine O’Donnell who compared masturbation to adultery, didn’t think condoms could prevent AIDS and famously had to make an ad assuring evangelical voters she wasn’t a witch post candid admissions to dabbling in the ‘art’ as teenage rebellion. Sharon Angle, older possibly cognitively impaired, who in addition to not knowing how social security worked, literally thinking the surplus funds, funds used to pay out benefits were contained in a lockbox in West Virginia, but wanting to privatize it and Medicare; thought processes come to light after she again in 2016 tried to run for national Nevada’s senate seat, post the retirement announcement of sitting member Harry Reid. Angle apparently believed the conspiracy theorist John Britch society and their assertion fluoride in water is a communist mind control plot, not an effort at tooth health, especially in children; the first to talk about second amendment people in 2010 suggesting if you don’t get your way politically you can shoot your opposition a full 6 years prior to Donald Trump. Just 2 of the plethora of lower level political wanna be’s that should make us want to ask more questions of our to be elected officials, the congressman who made his dog chief of staff, the guy in Ohio whose hobby is dressing up in Nazi replica garb and doing WWII reenactments, expecting to be accepted to office, Jim Russell running in a New York district who’s against race mixing, Art Robinson advocating racist British literature almost 2 centuries old used as part of his home schooling curriculum; Georgia state senate majority leader Chip Rogers’ seminar on how Obama and the United Nations were utilizing a cold world era mind control technique to get citizens to surrender their freedoms. The Wilfred Brimley much sillier look alike who couldn’t wrap his head around the number of black people who turned out to vote, wanting to send mailers out to find out where they were returned from to be absolutely sure those, never seen before blacks, were registered to vote where they voted, then tried to defend himself against racism criticism citing the back friend he plays basketball with, also formerly Maine’s RNC chairman; no defense against probable senility though. Jan Brewer, former Arizona governor’s brain freezes and ramblings about beheadings of U.S. citizens on U.S. soil by Mexican drug cartels could be signs of everything from mini-strokes to bona fide brain damage, for which she sought no medical attention yet going on to achieve a second term; the many incoherent statements of Newt Gingrich over the decades, including exploration to the moon for mineral extraction, later colonization all to keep kids interested in science he revealed in a 2012 debate. Mike Huckabee perhaps most famously known now for defending child pedophile, porn addict, adulterer Josh Duggar calling his actions youthful indiscretion; I myself broke down his liberals don’t make sense rant showing how he’d missed and mangled most of the facts he was vehemently upset about. His scathing comments about Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z accusing him of pimping her out based on a stage performance with explicit moves “best left to the privacy of her bedroom,” bashing the Obama’s parenting for letting their kids listen to such poisonous music, his comparing gay marriage to drinking/ swearing more doses of irony considering who he supports. Carl Palladio running for governor of New York whose signature plan was to house public assistance recipients in unused prisons giving them personal hygiene skills they didn’t get in dysfunctional homes, who before running for governor was known for racist, pornographic materials he regularly sent out, who spent his short gubernatorial run accusing his rival of an extramarital affair suddenly denying his own, he years earlier spoke candidly about, ragingly homophobic shouting about ‘the gay agenda.’…. Rounding things out with the orange buffoon himself Donald Trump scraping an Electoral College victory while Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 3 million more votes, president since the start of his campaign that has been plagued by questions, rumors surrounding his mental health, emotional stability. Psychiatrists, psychologists coming out of the woodwork, damning professional ethics in an attempt to alert the public something isn’t right with him, all the more fuel added to the fire when he not only refused to disclose his medical records in the tradition of presidents past but found a hippy doctor to write a ‘joke’ letter in 5 minutes extoling the wonderfulness of Trump’s health. Morphing into change.org petitions to please have him medically evaluated, a focus group just this week calling his behavior thus far impulsive, chaotic, supports confused or outright abandoning him; the aptly named Trump troubadour feeling hurt, disappointed and betrayed after attending 45 rallies, voting for him believing he would initiate services to combat the opioid epidemic, killing the man’s son for want of insurance, treatment options, get addicts treatment only to try and pass a healthcare bill stripping away government help for what little services, treatment options it does have. There’s even a clinical name for what he may have, delusional senile dementia according to a Daily Kos article dated last year brilliantly written to illuminate the president’s potentially precarious mental health. So it should come as no earth shattering surprise if politicians, who are regular people choosing to run for office, able to gather the funds to run for office suffer from these brain disease, mental illness induced ideas voters, who voted for these baffling candidates landing a few into their respective offices, possess some of the identical problems being in identical age brackets too…
Now in examining what to do about this, how to move forward our intimal knee jerk reaction is to prescribe compassion, suggest leaving people believed to be mentally, cognitively unwell alone if seen out in public being obnoxious, only intervene if they look to be a danger to self or others; shrug it off, rather in the spirit of the Madea movie franchise, chalk it up to a natural response to disappearing respect, society’s reaped consequence for its total disrespect, unbridled contempt for older persons, exactly what not to do… Read More

And We Thought Hillary Clinton Was The Picture Of Corruption, We Thought Hillary Clinton’s Whitehouse Would Be Corrupt Beyond Measures Of Our Wildest Imaginations

Current Trends by Natasha Sapp

And the corruption potential, conflict of interest probability, very real likely law breaking hasn’t stopped merely because political factions and persons have exited the campaign trail; if anything, it has intensified. Solidifying forming realities the Russia ties to Trump and suspected election interference, attempts to do so weren’t just noise, a distraction are Russians now bragging about their communication with Donald Trump, Trump staff all throughout the election cycle, they insist it was in the course of normal business dealings; however, no one can be sure when documented hacks on the DNC, the Podesta e-mails, 2 local voting stations can be credibly traced to a singular source conclusively outside the country, Russia. But to diehard republicans, supporters, independent media skeptics the ‘Russia connection’ was a convenient attention grabbing cop out to distract from Hillary Clinton’s problems and conflicts with her own foundation; oh and utterly McCarthyite…. Megyn Kelly is being once more outspoken, not just about Roger Ailes’ sexual harassment but how furious Trump was with her about unflattering coverage centered around his ex-wife’s later recanted rape allegation, threats to unleash his twitter account on her evolving into Trump staff retweeting calls to gut her, fear for her personal safely she felt because of him; bad enough he had his base so amped up she needed security from his followers. An even bigger clincher, he apparently tried to use gifts to gain more favorable news coverage of him from her and her employers’ network (Fox News), some unnamed ‘egos’ willing to take him up on his offer; Donna Brazil kind-a pales in comparison doesn’t she considering if you weren’t prepared for a question on Flint Michigan noting the location of that town hall you weren’t paying attention, or that to expect a question on Flint Michigan was common sense and closing, Bernie Sanders lacking prep time ‘unfairly’ given Clinton had better answers. But the mainstream media is corrupt, a spin machine for Hillary Clinton producing exactly zero stories she bribed, tried to influence coverage of herself apart from maybe a magazine article whose author took it upon themselves to run what appears to be the entire story by her; though final outcomes are undetermined because it was part of the already suspect Podesta e-mails disseminated from middle man WikiLeaks origin unknown, where glaring alterations have been found when looking closely and, even by independent media, was acknowledged to be incomplete… his kids are supposed to be overseeing the Trump business enterprise now that he is officially president elect; instead raising eyebrows, they have been seen taking high level meetings alongside their father including his meeting with Japan’s president as simultaneously daughter Ivanka’s company was finalizing a deal there partnered to a company wholly owned by Japan’s government. Hints why she wanted to ‘simply sit in’ on a meeting, daughter Ivanka, who suddenly wants to move to Washington D.C. post drawing fire for using the Trump family photo during their 60 Minutes interview to promote her jewelry line…. Added to unprecedented conflicts of interest and how it could negatively affect America’s collective national interests, undermine our global reputation, is the sheer incompetence displayed during the transition to this point, not singularly of a non-politician surprisingly turned president elect almost overnight shocked by his unexpected win, but the people he insists on surrounding himself with; true rumors he sought security clearance for his oldest 3 children turned out to be only that proliferated by a low level staffer who wanted to appear in the know, promptly fired. Yet Donald Trump is actually seeking clearance for his son-in-law Jared Kushner as an adviser, opening up serious questions about nepotism laws, whether he takes a salary for his probable top level advisory positon or not, who when touring the Whitehouse shortly after his father-in-law was deemed president elect asked how many of the staff would be staying once president Obama left, only to be told none of them, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow stating disbelieving of displayed ignorance resonating in her voice ‘you do have to hire 4,000 people’ excluding cabinet members. His son Eric illegally tweeted a picture of his election ballot, granted so did many, especially celebrities, but it is considered bad form when a president’s own children can’t follow basic rules; can you imagine the scandal, the uproar if Malia Obama had done the same?…Recalling Trump surrogate Omarosa’s vague references to an enemies list quoted in an interview saying, “it’s so great our enemies are making themselves clear so that when we get in to the White House, we know where we stand,” reported on the heels of portrayals Donald Trump views the presidency as his own personal revenge fantasy based on internal conversations devising ways to hurt ‘never Trump’ republicans signaling real worry he’s literally going to use the oval office to get back at people who were mean to him. Abjectly frightening is the YouTube video of Omarosa going into ecstatic detail describing people who will have to bow down to Trump, every critic, doubter, skeptic detractor, person who disagreed, challenged him; calling it the greatest revenge becoming the most powerful person in the universe. Except we live in a democracy, flawed certainly, holding fast to democratic ideals meaning no one will be expected to bow down, lick boots, prostrate themselves at the feet of our leader, at home or visiting from abroad, that’s 3rd world, puppet government stuff having no place in America, which is one country among several westernized ‘superpowers’ nullifying her universe hyperbole; governing responsibly thrown completely out the window. Sketches of the forthcoming Trump Whitehouse seemingly substantiated by former George W. Bush counselor Eliot A. Cohen who warned fellow republicans to outright avoid Trump’s administration filled with little else apart from unquestioning loyalty falling in line with organization chaos warnings, confusion about a clear chain of command according to Mike Rogers who was removed from Trump’s transition team proceedings….Next before they fired one Michael G. Flynn Jr. son of general Michael T. Flynn senior for retweeting, spreading the fake news story pizza-gate: Hillary Clinton John Podesta are running a child sex trafficking, child abuse ring out of a D.C. pizza parlor—in actuality prior talks were, definitive past tense, about a campaign stop at the named popular pizza restaurant that didn’t materialize throughout election cycle, events that got morphed into that, leading a concerned, armed citizen coming all the way from North Carolina to ‘investigate’ blatantly fictitious, fabricated allegations opening fire on the business, fortunately no one was injured or killed, man surrendering peacefully once he realized no children were in danger— they had planned to give him security clearance… Multiplying already voiced concerns about Trump’s staffing, confirmed cabinet picks and those on respective short lists aren’t disgruntled murmurings simply boiled down to Donald Trump being an undesired republican appointing, par for the course with whichever party wins the Whitehouse, a who’s who of stanch party members, here republicans, the crème de la crème of republican names to key positions, as advisers, secretaries of government agencies; it is specifically who he’s chosen for exact jobs and their potential impact on our nation going forward through the next 100 days, the next 4 years. Beyond Breitbart’s Steve Bannon’s purported white supremacist ties, his affiliation with decidedly fake news and its impact on election outcomes, perceptions, backtracking to 2008 we saw public rejection of war, war, war, superseding its monetary cost to its human cost thus many voted for president Obama; why then would we support a national security advisor who believes Islam is a cancer, a political ideology not a religion, promoter of anti-Islamic conspiracy theories: infiltration into western countries to ‘get into the blood stream of the opposition,’ repeating right wing mythology about creeping Sharia law in America, serving as advisor to one said conspiracy group knowing he will have to work alongside Muslim counties in his job, who is also possibly being paid by Turkey and had involvement in their coup? Never the less meet Michael Flynn reading the last paragraph you have to wonder if he would have been hired had they known of his conspiracy theory group affiliation, items uncovered by adequate vetting… Sole purpose impressing a girl; where Snowden was, could be classified a whistleblower alerting American citizens to government spying, wiretaps, personal data colletion. 2 post his conviction, serving not one day in jail and he’s being vetted for secretary of state. You know it’s bad when even his mistress who benefited journalistically from the information she was given is surprised he was a secretary short list member…. Purely domestically Jeff Sessions pick for attorney general’s racist past matters when Michael Slager the cop who savagely fired 8 shots into the fleeing back of Walter Scott, caught on video doing so and rifling his pockets as opposed to administering CPR can receive a mistrial; compounding that sentiment information tells us that hung jury forcing the judge to declare said mistrial was thanks to a singular hold out juror vote who couldn’t convict on any charge including manslaughter. When there are no charges against the officer who shot Keith Lamont Scott in the back after repeated commands to drop a gun his family is adamant he didn’t have, who was originally sitting in his car waiting for his son to come out of school, allegedly rolling a joint and waving a gun prompting officers to break their surveillance of another person and confront him. Scott ending up dead despite his wife informing them in self-captured cellphone video he has a traumatic brain injury, has just taken his medication, begging them not to shoot him. Sessions can easily be seen, by more than the black, minority community as the wrong person for the job when under African American attorneys general both Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch we saw Ferguson and Baltimore unrest touched off via should be criminal encounters between police and civilians, where police acted dubiously and upon the latter set of officers going to trial a judge openly questioned whether or not a crime was committed. Even though police had no grounds to stop Freddie Gray, yet they did, they had no grounds to arrest Freddie Gray yet they did, subsequently filing him into a police van sans seatbelt, drove him around for 3-4 stops ignoring pleas for his inhaler, medical attention, was shackled within police restraints at one point, seatbelt ‘forgotten’ again Gray dying of a broken neck reasonably garnered from that van ride as an indentation in his skull matches a bolt on the van wall. An attorney general who says “it’s dangerous to ban the execution of ‘retarded’ people” irregardless most westernized nations don’t execute people period no matter their crime, they like us draw the line at ending the life of someone who is developmentally delayed, has intellectual deficits to the point of not understanding fully the crime they committed…Equally Ben Carson for Housing and Urban Development secretary raises eyebrows, not for the go to reason shouted by conservatives put on news and commentary shows race, rather genuine competence and qualifications, not to be merely an advocate for low-income and fair housing but to run the agency responsible for it on a nation level. Appointment and its acceptance by Carson all the more peculiar when his own top advisor reported to media he excluded himself citing experience, his lacking it, only to hear defenders of his being given said job tout his brilliance as a neurosurgeon bashing critics implying his not smart enough to cotton on how to run a government agency; deepening interest, his original answer in light of the fact he thought he had the knowledge, acumen to run for president, run a country regularly referred to as the free world smacking as hypocrisy on steroids. Most acknowledging his background would protest his being tapped for surgeon general remembering in an interview he mixed up RU486 the ‘abortion’ pill and morning after, Plan B contraceptives hoping rape victims went to the hospital and received the former not the latter in his mind ending discussions on the need for abortion after rape. Remembering this is the same Ben Carson who talked about his tithing tax plan that was actually 14% not 10, the biblical tithe he based it on; the Ben Carson shadowing Alex Jones in connecting Hillary Clinton to Lucifer AKA the devil based on a paper she wrote about a book where the professor called Lucifer the first radical, having little to do with her. Bringing us lastly here to what may lay ahead for fair and low income housing should Carson be confirmed, legitimate questions about will he generate the innovative solutions hoped for or be more of previous conservative views on the people who need public housing, welfare single mothers popping out more children for more assistance. Will his having grown up in public housing mean he understands the need for the most modern amenities, whole home Wi-Fi, simplicities such as new telephone boxes that can handle high speed DSL, functional traditional cable lines to accommodate cable internet added to housing units, in the era of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn’s roll garnering people jobs, lifting oneself up from poverty, these tools prominence in the increasingly freelance economy representing the difference between ability to support yourself and not, importance for students to have home internet access to do their best in school to take advantage of the best opportunities? Or will it be more of the years long shaming of single women having children out of wedlock to unsuitable fathers, incongruent the number of nuclear families in subsidized housing, telling people if they want listed luxuries work their way out of something meant to serve only as basic shelter, blinded by hardworking people who are holding jobs, never answering why plain housing, non-subsidized housing, dwellings not set aside for low income individuals, families costs so much even in lower cost of living areas… There are real consequences to the things president elect Trump says he wants to do, passivity toward legislative actions going on in states nationwide bolstered by his victory to reshape America the way they see fit—polar antithesis to president Obama. His much talked about Carrier deal turns out isn’t as good as he crowed to media saving only 800, not 1,100 according to Carrier’s union leader who on national TV and quotes for magazine, online articles boldly accused him of lying his ass off, not knowing his numbers, a cardinal sin for a businessman especially of his bragged about caliber; only to be blasted by the president elect’s twitter account for essentially telling the truth…You don’t need to be a brilliant political mind or an expert on par with who should be staffing up key secretary positions at the Whitehouse to know it isn’t good when you can send a company’s stock plummeting via tweet, perhaps most significantly as president elect, even less good comes from actually doing so, following through on what can only be described as impulse; nevertheless that’s what he did to Boeing when he didn’t like the 4 billion dollar price for new air force one’s commissioned by the air force. Dismissing it was for up to 4 planes not 1 and a service contract to be filled over 8 years replacing our existing 2 Air Force one’s coming off the line 25 years ago. Followed by tanking Lockheed Martin over the ‘extravagant’ expense for the F-35 aircraft, but contrary to independent news anchor statements it’s not about differentiating between truly liberal and progressive persons versus those who pay lip service to its principles, those tagged democrat or republican, it’s not about dealing a blow to the massive military industrial complex, rather skimping on what the president travels around in conducting our nation’s business, having the ability to run the entire country from up there if necessary is not where you cut cost, nor on R&D, research and design. In any field that takes massive and extraordinary amounts of money, muscular dystrophy, cancer, new drugs for Alzheimer’s to name a singular section of medicine alone, or for new aircraft with Russian and China nipping at our heals as an inconvenient sidebar. It is absolutely about how companies will respond to those losses, who they will take those losses out on, which lowly grunt workers putting parts in these machines, midlevel designers did you just tweet out of a job; irreprehensible the person responsible is president elect. Switching gears slightly proposed tariffs (35%) on imported goods from places i.e. China, Mexico have been tried before on electronics, socks, steel, cars and solar panels to list but a handful and 35 years has taught us it doesn’t work very well, why: “duties came too late, were circumvented or were made largely irrelevant as imports shifted to other foreign countries;” too, leveling such threats means risking, provoking a trade war that will inevitably raise prices and cost jobs. Expecting miracles and buying into we can go back to America’s good old days won’t generate jobs, won’t train, retrain workers for in demand jobs or reorient mindsets out of I can have only a high school education, go work in one field 30 years and retire; things are too fluid for that today. Here is where who Donald Trump appoints to what position moves out of the realm of abstracts and into things people can understand at their kitchen tables; if the odd, extreme, fringe things said by compiled persons headed to Trump’s cabinet didn’t grab your attention, you still wish to give Ben Carson a chance, let’s say you are clinging to the few mining jobs left in America then Wilbur Ross letting 12 people die in a mine he owned thanks to 100’s of ongoing, systemic violations is a red flag as is his commerce appointment in addition to his Wall Street ties. It matters that fast food CEO Andy Puzder is set to be labor secretary making 300 times what any of his workers do opposing both the affordable care act and elevating federal minimum wage above $9.00 per hour, glorifying what machines can do compared to the best human worker, more aptly what they don’t do: call in sick, slip and fall, claim harassment, discrimination… True to what I and others forecasted regret and buyer’s remorse are starting to set in, entire social media pages (Tumblr) dedicated to letting voters express their earnest wish they had filled out their ballot differently; citizens’ concerns ranging from silly, abjectly patrician regretting voting for him if Kanye West, seen meeting with Trump, has anything to do with his presidency, presidential decisions, shouting upset about zero plans to lock up, jail Hillary Clinton, to the kitchen table serious wondering if seniors and disabled persons could lose their Medicare to vouchers….Trump-splainers are coming around to the cold hard reality Donald Trump isn’t who or what they thought he was, isn’t going to do what they thought he would… Read More

Hillary Clinton: The Gaffes That Weren’t There—Her Basket Of Deplorables Remark Defined The Line Not Crossed It And Her Temporary Health Is None Of Our Business

Current Trends by Natasha Sapp

People where so busy focusing on the purported ‘millions’ she called deplorable they forgot to check statistical math proving her 100% truthful; and, since when does being a public figure, running for office, even the highest office, mean candidates have to report to the world every time they get a cold, the flu or, gasp, pun intended, pneumonia?… Elaborating there is this basket of depolrables and to her point, Trump has lifted them up, given them a voice, placed them in the mainstream and made their views acceptable to the determent of America and the values it was founded on, values fought for through the generations. Also, coming on the heels of a bad week, including continued conversations about her e-mail and growing scrutiny around the Clinton Foundation, allegations of pay for play access; it’s seen as the last thing she needed. Her ultimately walking back the number quantifier, not its sentiment, saying she was grossly generalistic and that’s never a good thing, continuing; it was a mistake to put such a large number to it. Same could be said for her initial not feeling well at New York 9-11 memorial remembrance events and subsequent fainting spell, a horrible capstone to a bad week politically, not only that it served to confirm every right wing conspiracy theory about her failing health, age-ed condition making her unfit to hold our highest office as president. From Karl Rove’s brain damage speculation, rumors she suffers chronic diseases, MS to Parkinson’s, hither to unfounded by more than a persistent cough she attributed to seasonal allergies. A ‘doctor’ who believes she’s being systematically poisoned, doubtlessly by the Russians who share documented culpability in hacking networks such as the DNC database pointing to election interference, attempts to influence our outcomes. To clusters of YouTube videos saying at least one major network announced her death post collapse, calling her reappearance from her daughter’s apartment 90 minutes later after rehydrating and being seen by her doctor fake, along with appearances 1-2 days before. But setting off a torrent of questions about what little we actually know about our top candidates’ health, 2 of the oldest runners for president and what the American people should know, be allowed to know, expect to know before reporting to their voting booth in November…However, do we really need to know about running mate Tim Kane’s broken clavicle (collar bone), dislocated shoulder, removed wisdom teeth, plantar fasciitis (An inflammation of a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes)? Do we really need arm chair medicine on top of arm chair psychology from entities like Dr. Drew blasting the kind of care she was getting because she was on Coumadin (blood thinner) after a blood clot not newer Xarelto, Eliquis, even though he has never examined or treated her, does not know her medical history in full? And, advertisements for the latter drugs themselves say in their own commercials there is no comparative data between patients on Coumadin and better outcomes if they switch to Xarelto, Eliquis. Do we really need to know more than we already do about her leg blood clot, her 2012 concussion, about her hypothyroidism, sinusitis? Yet she somehow committed an egregious political, public relations faux pa by being diagnosed on a Friday with a mild walking pneumonia, and didn’t immediately dial up news outlets; dido when she fainted, not collapsed, not was on death’s door, let’s cut the hyperbolic adjectives. Upon fainting, instead of seeing to Mrs. Clinton, aides were supposed to be contacting ABC, NBC CBS, MSNBC, HLN, CNN, Fox News, the Washington Post and New York Times, not a um, let me think, doctor; do readers, never mind perpetuators of this need to know everything, including every time public figure X goes to the bathroom, gets a hangnail, stubs their toe, understand how ridiculous that sounds?… Still Hillary Clinton has ratchetted up her untrustworthiness by incalculable exponents because she got pneumonia and didn’t rush to tell voters, the media, hold a national press conference… Question, who doesn’t think the things Secretary Clinton, candidate Clinton listed are deplorable; sexism, particularly considering concepts floated around like rape culture, high school and college campuses riddled with sexual assault, opposing republican politicians who don’t support equal pay for equal work, who however subliminally, want to punish women for having kids, taking time off to raise those children in critical years then complain when parents don’t take that time and the kid turns out a criminal, ordinary citizens who endorse both views, think women should just work harder, college kids should stop drinking and high school girls shouldn’t wear ‘booty shots’ if they don’t want to be called a slut and worse. But Hillary Clinton, by running for office, has lost her rights to free speech, to call those ideas, and them deplorable…Returning to violence, rhetoric consisting of if only they hadn’t been armed, had complied with officers, if only they weren’t rioting, looting and acting like animals held up beside a jail who put a mentally ill, developmentally delayed man in general population then shut his water off after he ‘tried to flood the cell,’ next giving him no drinking water for 6 days until he eventually died of thirst. Another man beaten savagely when he didn’t want to be put in the mental ward of a jail, fearing being viewed a monster, fracturing his face, breaking ribs, puncturing his lung, one officer taking his ripped out dreadlocks, wanting them as a trophy for his motor cycle, finally fabricating injuries to justify their beating…Homophobia, and let’s be clear the level of homophobia we’re talking about, reaching far past individuals who say homosexuality isn’t for me, people who find it unnatural and strange, people who want it kept away from them; still as long as you don’t try to foist your lifestyle on them, try to come on to them, they don’t care, pretty much subscribe to live and let live, they don’t really understand transgender, what it feels like to feel you were born in the wrong body, but to each his own. She was talking, at a LGBT gala mind you, about disingenuous authors of bathroom bills mandating transgender persons use the bathroom corresponding with the gender on their birth certificate, in response to select municipalities in North Carolina adding sexual orientation and gender identity to their discrimination statutes…Described down home American citizens who did things like what was done to Mathew Sheppard tied to a fence and beaten solely due to being gay; Bandon Teena born female, living as a male in a time when transgender wasn’t a word, surgery and mental health help lightyears from readily available, forget expensive, discovered by friends of friends, forced to strip down revealing his biological sex, forced into a car, taken to a remote area, repeatedly sexually assaulted and later murdered for filing a police report on his assailants. For people believing that was another time, we’ve expanded our tolerance since then, agreements to disagree, if the bathroom bill eruption didn’t convince you of the contrary, there are people like the Georgia man sentenced to 40 years in jail for pouring boiling water on his girlfriend’s gay son and his boyfriend merely sleeping in bed together while saying “get out of my house with that gay shit” (it wasn’t his house it was hers); afterwards telling authorities, “They were stuck together like two hot dogs … so I poured a little hot water on them and helped them out, they’ll be alright. It was just a little hot water, they’ll be alright,” oblivious to horrific injuries he inflicted. A man in Australia who replaced containers of personal lubricant with acid; thankfully they had been tampered with before so alarms had been place on containers so no one was injured… Islamophobia, again being clear regarding extent expressed by Clinton in her comments, understanding of people’s heightened fear of terrorism, ISIS, legitimately concerned about sleeper cell possibilities in their neighborhood due to seeing so many on the news, a little or a lot nervous getting on an airplane because you never know… New York City police searching for a man after he attempted to set a Muslim woman on fire only catching her sleeve she quickly put out because she was Muslim and wearing standard conservative dress; let’s stop and digest that latter story, that an American tried to set someone on fire for their religion while we call a nebulous them barbarians, heathens holding archaic beliefs we’re willing to fight wars over. Children can get dumped out of their baby strollers by whites upset they are in their country, because they are Muslims; people who would be apoplectic watching David Muir’s ABC special including children being taught the traditional Muslim/middle eastern greeting (their version of hello how are you) to welcome their 6 year old classmate Hala a Syrian refugee child, not terrorist who is here because her home, her country are little more than a rubble heap… No, Chris Mathews sorry, it isn’t disparaging millions of Americans, wrong for her to call deplorable, deplorable, to define what she means by that and stick to her guns; when moving from isolated incidents and speculative evidence to nearly 60 percent of Trump’s supporters who hold “unfavorable views” of Islam, and 76 percent support a ban on Muslims entering the United States. We know that some 40 percent of Trump’s supporters believe blacks are more violent, more criminal, lazier, and ruder than whites. Two-thirds of Trump’s supporters believe the first black president in this country’s history is not American. These claims are not ancillary to Donald Trump’s candidacy, they are a driving force behind it to quote Ta-Nehisi Coats…Trump renounced his bitherism claims years before he did, who called Black Lives Matter racist. Donald Trump, who literally something like the day before, stated he was troubled by the Tulsa shooting where video shows a man with his hands up still getting shot, not surviving, saying he didn’t know what the officer was thinking, didn’t know if she was choking (as in panicking) the man seemed to be doing what officers wanted him to, doing everything right; only to announce ‘solutions’ of more police, stop and frisk, later limited to extremely violent areas i.e. Chicago… While Hillary Clinton is talking about funds for implicit bias training, aimed at ridding police officers of their engrained subconscious prejudices so they don’t take it out on the public they are to serve, less people get shot, killed holding benign objects mistaken for a weapon; greater police accountability, so when instances like Tulsa happen officers responsible are charged, tried, convicted and put behind bars…Completely ignored, were the other half of identified Trump supporters highlighted by Mrs. Clinton, the people who feel let by their government, let down by their nation’s economy she tried to reach as more than a ploy to win votes, but to say I haven’t forgotten you, I understand why you might vote for Trump, want to vote for Trump, help me understand more…Once and for all Hillary Clinton got pneumonia, not the bubonic, pneumonic plague, TB, she was never diagnosed with a serious long term, ongoing medical condition, MS, Parkinson’s Lou Gehrig’s disease, even diabetes; she has not died, isn’t dead. Her contracting pneumonia not surprising considering background information many Clinton campaign staff had contracted severe colds, 2 of them, not Clinton, hospitalized with repertory infections. Yes she originally told press around her her noticeable cough was due to seasonal allergies; that wasn’t campaign spin to hide a larger, ongoing health problem, a chronic condition she didn’t want the public to know about. It was her doctor’s initial diagnosis when she came to her with fatigue, a low grade fever and cough, was given a short course of antibiotics, probably due to her history of chronic sinusitis (an inflammation or swelling of the tissue lining the sinuses) presumably told to come back if symptoms got worse, wanting to see her in X days, weeks for a standard checkup. Upon said checkup symptoms remained, doctor heard congestion, opted to do an advanced chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, ended up ruling it in; diagnosing her with a mild walking pneumonia, called such in layman’s terms because individuals with it can usually carry on with their daily activities, may not even know they have it. Advised rest and modification of her rigorous campaign schedule; advice Clinton admits to ignoring until she couldn’t ignore it anymore feeling ill at the 9-11 memorial, trying to discreetly leave, as not to disrupt proceedings, and fainted getting into her car. Never taken to a hospital, rather her daughters nearby apartment because, recognizing what this was, there was no need to sit hours in an ER, disrupt operations at a local urgent care clinic when your name is Hillary Clinton and you’re that Hillary Clinton; her doctor willing to come to her. Evaluating her, finding her dehydrated and in need of rest, probably embarking on a lecture about self-care, listening to your physician; candidate emerging 90 minutes later appearing fine, cancelling a California trip for that Monday, returning to campaign activities that Thursday, short of the 5 days respite doctors recommended…. It should be reassuring we now have a recent health history on Secretary Clinton, many of her public knowledge heath issues explained..It should be reassuring candidate Clinton, possible future president of the United States, is being treated by a professional, someone who exudes professionalism, who can navigate the exposure, status, publicity of her patient; it should be reassuring secretary Clinton’s minor, age commiserate health issues are under control, scrutinized by the watchful eye of a doctor, versus who knows what Harald Bornstein could be missing with Donald Trump, what tests he’s not allowed to perform being awed or intimidated, manipulated by his patient…But Hillary Clinton has always been judged on a different playing field trapped in republican bizarre-o world where effect video editing, making her head bob around spastically imitating a bobble-head doll proves she’s prone to seizures; her fondness for muumuus is concealing medical devices not in evidence or on the market, i.e. Veterans for Trump’s deep brain stem battery pack that counters her tremors…Nor was there any cover up, attempt to mislead people about the state of her health in saying she was merely overheated as opposed to ‘coming clean,’ not waiting 7 hours to announce she had pneumonia; not to overwhelm the tiny brains of republican conspiracy theory spinners, the presumed tiny brains comprising America’s voting populous, it was both. At the 9-11 memorial she was dehydrated, overheated and thus fainted; said dehydration, overheating possibly due to underlying pneumonia, anti-biotics taken, but not necessarily or always…voters seeming to be on her side in developing pneumoniagate believing Hillary Clinton will be fine. Candidate Clinton’s forced sick days should have sparked a completely different conversation, set of conversations before she brought it back to the campaign trail—what millions of sick people, workers in the freelance economy, minimum wage job holders, to small business owners do in this country when they can’t take off from work to mind and care for their health, when they are already living paycheck to paycheck and they can’t afford to miss a paycheck or their rent won’t get paid, their lights won’t stay on, reality for multitudes of hard working Americans. When you, like she, can’t flake on a round table of foreign policy experts, a big product rollout, a months’ long prepared presentation, fundraising events if you want the financial capital to achieve your goals in getting to the Whitehouse to make a difference for average Americans, such as the one your mother was coming up for very little. Your boss doesn’t stop expecting you to make the company money because you’re sick; you can’t miss the region wide sales rep conference. What people do when they don’t have health insurance, when their employer isn’t large enough under Obamacare to be mandated to provide health coverage options, when you can’t afford to see a doctor; how minor infections and would-be simple outpatient, same day surgical procedures become costly ER visits, complicated surgeries, lengthy stays in the hospital, as whatever it is can no longer be ignored. Why people in stable jobs, budding careers or even long time workers at company X don’t take sick days in this country, even if they have them, let alone a vacation fearing for their job, being passed over for a promotion. Studies showing working overtime can kill you, shorten your lifespan, triples risk of major deadly diseases; heart disease, cancer, diabetes…many of those same health problems noted in the overtime story, especially again, for women. Salon author’s self-deprecating assessment he shoehorned Hillary’s pneumonia into a policy examination, policy article because he is an exclusive political writer aside, his question is valid and his answer just as important as her medical records, arguably more so, in terms of things that should be driving our election decisions this election cycle. What would the Trump health plan do to struggling Americans who have health coverage for the first time in their adult lives thanks to Obamacare, uphill battling millennials in the freelance economy who can look after their health while young potentially avoiding huge problems down the line, but that all goes away with his promised repeal of the Affordable Care Act, whose largest selling point is then insurance companies’ ability to sell insurance policies across state lines…. Uniquely ironic Donald Trump talking about transparency whether it be Clinton’s health or his taxes, the hiding behind an audit every expert says doesn’t prevent him from disclosing past, current tax information, then telling people what it doesn’t tell readers about a person’s finances, lastly settling on people just aren’t that interested in his tax returns. Secondary to why we need to see his tax returns, investigative journalists want to know and the public needs to know about any potential conflicts of interest, particularly with say Russia, documented business holdings in China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates weighed beside legal fact he is not required, should he win the presidency, to set up a blind trust…Coating on another layer of shady adding to stories on contractors and lower level workers not paid for building Trump buildings, numerous lawsuits being the final outcome, accusations he encouraged models to work in America illegally, to skirt immigration laws, questions about his own wife’s immigration to America, work status when she first came into this country…. When the barest minimum investigative journalism turned up tangible wrongdoing in which Trump donated to the attorney general campaign of one Pam Bondi in Florida fined by the IRS for his trouble, fine failing to address optics he did so to preempt her investigation of Trump university affiliates there. Trump who hasn’t put any of his personal money into his named charity since 2008, him using other people’s money to make donations, causing them to think it came from Trump. Using funds from his charity to buy a Tim Tebow helmet for himself, a 6 foot portrait of himself, using charity funds to pay off business debts, even to collect debts from others, how people basically got duped into ‘giving’ so much to his foundation; things so bad the New York attorney general is opening an investigation. This is on top of a mirroring investigation into exposed Trump University running a for-profit model using predatory sales tactics to get people to go into debt, give up savings to attend near meaningless classes, where he famously insulted the judge for ‘being of Mexican descent’ despite being born and raised in Indiana…Whereas Trump’s former campaign chair Paul Manafort resigned when extensive ties to Russia were revealed and that’s not the one who just resigned for racist comments; his current campaign manager is a member of the alt. right, extreme right wing conservatives, white supremacies and was once accused of domestic violence…to quote one commenter on one of many articles about Clinton’s health, political optics and the absurdity this has all taken on, “Honestly, watching the response to this has shown me why she lies. There’s no longer reason to tell the truth.” More accurately reflecting expressed sentiment, we see now why she doesn’t disclose any more personal, health information than she absolutely has to; there is no reason to be that open, vulnerable, ‘transparent,’ ‘honest,’ ‘trustworthy.’ Because, people are going to make it up, draw their own conclusions, create their own reality no matter what you tell them or don’t. Back To School Means Back To Shenanigans The Political Correctness Clint Eastwood Should Have Been Worried About

Current Trends by Natasha Sapp

Instead it’s the standard go to these days clothes, school dress codes and general polices on everything under the sun putting small area, key city schools on our national radar, garnering national attention for becoming more fascist and Nazi-like every year to some; to older, more traditional minds rolling their eyes bemoaning they had to add yet one more item to a banned clothing list, school administrators had to hammer out yet another policy on issue X because parents can’t employ common sense, if it’s not written down as a firm no, parents think anything goes. School in all facets fast becoming a topic tradition of mine, every graduation season inspires vivid commentary on anything but inspirational speeches to combat further coddling, cloistering of young people about to be smacked by the real world where you don’t get a trophy for everything, you don’t get points for just showing up. Alongside graduation nightmares spawned from clothing that shouldn’t be objectionable suddenly being put on a no, no list, parents showing up in the exact same attire as clever, justifiable revenge; dress code parameters for select, specific occasions that might as well have been written by their parent’s grandmothers mentioning sausage rolls to describe body fat, telling young women to keep the girls covered and you can’t put 10 pounds of mud in a 5 pound sack purportedly trying to speak their language to convey what is appropriate and what’s not. All because they feared stage placement would have people looking up girls’ short skirts, but the self-described ‘impressionable’ girl (18 and now an adult) speaking up is over sensitive and completely unprepared for real life; while her school, who should be leading by example, shows no class and gets away with it. Eagle feathers and other cultural, religious symbols banned from graduation tassels, gowns of individual students, one school barring their valedictorian from speaking due to his goatee facial hair; ironic we want boys to grow up to be men, men to act like men and emasculate them at the same time. Graduation ceremonies marred by racial slurs, overtones, one school outing their valedictorian to his father when he dared include that in the last seconds of his speech he was then banned from giving because it mentions him being gay. Speaking of parents, coveted parent involvement, a school superintendent who threated to have arrested excited parents cheering their child walking across that stage; desired charge: disturbing the peace. Others locked out of an overfilled auditorium due to ticket mix-ups; a 5th grader in a wheelchair forgotten at her elementary school graduation, no handicap accessibility provided, even leaving her name off the list of graduates. Likewise I have joined a chorus of fed up Americans, parents and non-parents equally, tired of schools shaming girls for simply buying their clothes off available racks at Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, JC Penny in appropriate size and age groupings, leaving it to parents to draft petitions about where is the fabric in girls’ clothing, clearly showing how much there is to boy’s clothes. Never adding their voices to said petitions just chastising parents for letting their child wear ‘booty’ shorts, more proper name daisy dukes, a bikini top to school (oh the horror in no air conditioning schools where you go outside to adjacent buildings for art, music confronted with hot, humid air)… news watchers remember the Utah school who edited yearbook photos without student/parent consent or notification based on moral compunctions of perv-y, white, religious minded men, blue haired old ladies and clique ridden year book staff despite a parent who took 2 students to orientation/registration and didn’t see any supposed sign announcing no sleeveless tops, visible bra straps, school reserved right to edit inappropriate pictures. Utterly stupid in summer where sun dresses, sleeveless shirts are worn for comfort in hot weather and bra straps, by the laws of physics, can be seen wearing a standard t-shirt, never mind U-neck popular women’s shirt styles (see screen shots) you can’t escape buying today. Reinforcing ideas, boys soon to be men, aren’t to control themselves, women are to cover up; girls, women are sex objects even in middle and high school, don’t want sex, propositions for sex, flirting, comment, cover up… So it’s no surprise dress codes made news again this year at the start of classes or that, as Yahoo’s article below states, dress codes right out of the 1950’s are popular with administrators and terms they use to define appropriate and inappropriate; latest round’s racial targeting found in banned hairstyles, items and ‘fashion trends’ lost on all of no one. Out, corn rolls (again you know persons writing this are out of touch when they don’t know it’s corn ROWS) twists, dreads, Mohawks, fro-hawks, ‘afros’ must be no longer than 2 inches, no jewelry to be worn in your hair, prompting one mother to call out their blatant racism, banning things unequivocally worn by mostly black students, eventually resulting in a slight change of policy eliminating statutes on aforementioned styles. Nor is it close to the first time said policies have come down on racial, ethnic minorities or become absolutely unenforceable….And then there’s the second Yahoo link complete with blow up screen shot below depicting posters informing Illinois middle school students of their dress code; Yahoo author commenting on their 1950’s language and attitudes. Lady-like and school appropriate on 2 headless women wearing nearly the same thing but the ‘revealing’ ‘distracting’ ‘dress code violation’ one was deemed so apparently because said girl chose to wear a see-through shirt over a thicker solid color one revealing nothing, or was it that her shirt wasn’t oversized enough to cover formfitting, ‘revealing’ parts of her leggings; you can’t tell truthfully. Beth Greenfield far from alone in her assessment decrying this throwback flyer and dress code, “Wow, Freeburg’s been invaded by Maoists,” noted one…while another posted the image of a flyer which read, in part, “I am a 15-year-old girl. If you are sexualizing me, YOU are the problem.” 15-year-old spot on, both Greenfield and cited psychologist questioning why; “all the women are drawn “with cleavage,” and “voluptuous,” when the flyer is meant to target middle-schoolers. “Even the way they depict women’s bodies is sexist.” Others penning sarcasm to make their point; “Who in their right mind would aspire to have schools as they were in the 1950’s? When the quality of education/teachers were better….students were held strictly accountable for their behavior……parents cared about how their children performed academically and behaviorally……….and reading, writing, and arithmetic took priority over social indoctrination, and political correctness…..classroom size didn’t matter, and teachers knew how to control their classes.” None of which has anything to do with the topic, over the top dress codes, and what is more 1950’s than parts left in the natural hair issue school’s dress code stipulating no 2 toned hair, males may not dye their hair and it must be no longer than their collar, bangs no lower than top of eyebrows. Butler school in Kentucky, check the calendar it’s 2016…. what we really want to know is where was Clint Eastwood talking about this, talking about educating a child’s mind is more important than what is or isn’t on their body?… where was he calling out old fuddy-duddies about dress codes in public schools; where was he calling out the ridiculousness of polo shirts and leggings on a sweet middle school girl getting them thrown out of class?… Dress codes should be: are they wearing clothes, then they can come to class; students looking to protest should merely come to school in their underwear, socks, shoes, bras for girls alerting these tightwads nationwide their attire will change when dress codes are amended to the above sentence period…. Pledge of allegiance back in the news this year too for variations on redundant, reoccurring ‘reasons’… Pulling us up to current fracas around our pledge, predictable Fox News showcasing a letter from one school sent home with students allowing them to opt out of the pledge and one corresponding parent’s asinine response, ‘this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read and I’m so ashamed of this;’ panel going on to detail proclaimed ridiculousness of an opt out form despite their own references to a 1943 ruling by the United States Supreme Court saying firstly, the fixed star in our constitutional constellation was you could not force people to confess their faith in orthodoxy, policy, nationalism exc. Translation they possess 1- constitutional, confirmed by Supreme Court, choice to not stand, not recite the pledge, no official, independent rank, high, low can compel them to; further, there must be written notification of the opt out option finally signed by parent or guardian. So represented Florida school, recognizing turmoil about the pledge, probably at stated request of a parent, whole groups of them, followed Supreme Court guidelines in offering an alternative…. No panel members understanding how serious an issue it has become for students, less centered on bullying by their peers manifesting in prolonged, lasting injury and more dangerous bullying by adult, school authority they have little recourse to fight back against. When a teacher can demand you stand during the pledge or be suspended for 2 days, receive 2 more days suspension for every day you don’t stand, chiefly because you defied what she believed to be her authority, weren’t falling in line with whole class, whole school group-think, oblivious to how her actions looked compared to dictator countries Saudi Arabia and North Korea quoting the Secular Talk radio host describing what happened to a high school young man in Texas. When a school nurse can say to an 8th grade student you refused to stand during the pledge of allegiance, I refuse to service you; girl in tears, denied first aide, medication access, whatever she came to school nursing staff for, proceedingly barred from calling her parents before receiving a stern lecture. Which is not only a violation of the conditions of her employment failing to do her job, it constitutes a violation of medical ethics stating you treat the patient in front of you, going against probable portions of the Hippocratic oath. Saga exacerbated and elongated when a guidance counselor stepped in, they no better informed about basic constitutionality saying she didn’t have to say the pledge but should stand in the hallway until its completion. David Packman show clarifying she certainly does not have to/need to stand outside; delving deeper into that 1943 case and its ruling, not only can students not be compelled to say and stand during the pledge, there cannot be repercussions visited upon students who don’t, putting both school officials in the extreme wrong… Identical principles hold true about how we discuss certain issues, how we frame certain conversations by the words we use, actively don’t use, enact change to positively alter society’s use of words counter to social order, function, equality; why we stopped using the N word, negro, adopted native American over Indian. Call someone gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender respectively as opposed to queer, fag, homo, transvestite, cross dresser, butch, carpet muncher, promote majoritively accurate sex education and proper names for body parts; encompassing reproductive organs, sexual activities. Why president Obama sought to remove the word retarded replaced with developmentally delayed from government documents; our evolving vernacular depicting what is socially acceptable to talk about, to say, how you say unpleasant, uncomfortable things, better address sensitive issues as much a part of the American fabric, American tradition as apple pie, baseball. Somewhat perplexing then why Fox News, surprise, surprise seems profoundly bewildered by that evolution reflected in a university’s notice to faculty advising them not to use words like crazy, psycho as it is offensive to people dealing with mental health issues, warnings not to out someone’s transgender identity, abstain from asking said persons about their ‘real name’ or surgical status and support students stated gender identities letting them know they should choose bathrooms corresponding with that identity…Largely gender identity related discussed parameters highlighted by both New Mexico university and Fox News streamed lined with the Supreme Court’s legalizing same sex marriage, countering exposed homophobia behind bathroom bills exploding this summer, that it was an end run around select North Carolina municipalities adding sexual orientation and gender identity to anti- discrimination statutes. Other states following their horrible bathroom bill example, Texas GOP members apoplectic calling it the end of public education when president Obama stepped in saying there will be federal guidelines allowing gender identity bathroom use to students in a place they are mandated to go 5 days a week to receive an education. Their lieutenant governor who can’t handle a tolerant, common sense set of “Transgender Student Guidelines,” fostering a “respectful and trusting” transgender student policy. Except to them, upholders of bathroom freak outs, Fox News, constant disparagers of this generation, our young people it’s representative of the extended coddling college culture of safe spaces, trigger warnings and political correctness gone wild; however, their mocking tone, laughing and segment title to mind your political P&Q’s indicates exactly why such parameters are needed. Forgotten, experts said the same things regarding mental illness in the final Sandy Hook report after Adam Lanza killed 26, most children, openly speaking about stigma surrounding these illnesses, opposed to cancer patients, diabetes sufferers, often preventing people from treatment, medication, causing people to fear both. Society’s use of words like psycho, crazy, cray, cray for persons who may be mentally ill; worse our too casual use of those same words not to indicate medical, mental health diagnoses merely describing those odd, unusual, unique or different, perception mental illness is as contagious as a cold, the flu, when it’s inherently not. Except, beyond safe space, trigger warning, free speech zones that are anything but, being transgender is about waking up one day and deciding your transgender, i.e. female instead of male, so you can use the woman’s bathroom and harass them, hit them up for sex, see partially naked women. Narrowly considered, were their theory correct, transgender males, biologically female could do the same harassing, making feel uncomfortable males hit on, propositioned for sex in Men’s rooms America wide; neither happening to date, if ever. Not about spending a lifetime feeling like you’re in the wrong body, enviously looking at girls wearing dresses, long hair, pretty outfits, feeling in your head, your heart that should be you too, feeling male, wanting to stand up using the bathroom confused as to why you have to sit, why your anatomy doesn’t match your mental image of yourself, terrified about gaining breasts, having a period. Instinctually knowing you don’t have a safe place to go to the bathroom because facilities matching your anatomy feel wrong, yet you’re nervous about those of your gender identity finding out you’re not like they are, harassment you’ve probably been subjected to trying to use either restroom….but telling New Mexico university students gender identity bathroom use is supported on campus is out of line, unnecessary, too much political correctness…. Just like an Arkansas Catholic school for boys, who teaches the importance of ‘soft failures’ posting a sign on their office door as follows: “If you are dropping off your son’s forgotten lunch, books, homework, equipment, etc., please TURN AROUND and exit the building,” the sign reads. “Your son will learn to problem-solve in your absence,” assumes student’s implied poor problem solving is directly resulting from helicopter parenting, helicopter parenting is the sole and singular reason parents bring items to their kids at school; during this day and age going viral. Ignoring, what, are you going to have school security escort out parents deciding it’s their child and they make the decisions not you, resort to calling police to gain compliance from parents with your new policy, how fast you won’t have a school if you go that route; you’ve forgotten parents who bring their child’s hockey, lacrosse, baseball gear to them after school for practice less because of their irresponsibility and more because you know if you do, it will remain in your child’s possession the entire time, less likely to be stolen, expensive equipment won’t be damaged, mandate replacement jostled repeatedly on the school bus (think hockey sticks). It’s what we say about driving all the time, it’s not you, you have to worry about but everyone else on the road; it’s not your kid you don’t trust, just everyone else maybe not raised with the same values you raised your son, especially if you’ve had problems with theft before, broken sports gear before. Their supposed to be cleverly worded sign assumes the child forgot, not you arranged to bring their science volcano, solar system model, history diorama to school so it wouldn’t be damaged on the school bus either; because after taking your hard earned money to buy the supplies, the multiple tries and several kitchen disasters to get the volcano to work properly, you’ll be damned if it gets destroyed before your child gets their hard earned grade… Obviously remarking on an era of ‘bad’ parenting, so called helicopter parents who want to swoop in and fix everything, never let their child fall or fail, protect them from everything brushes off other characteristic ‘bad’ parents, the flake who forgets everything themselves, assumes there’s that word again and what is it they say about making an ass of themselves, the parent showed up to correct, remedy their child’s mistake not their own…. Surely they have poorer students, families even attending probable tuition based catholic schools, parent working multiple jobs, where they told you they needed index cards for their research paper, would be given points for bringing, showing their teacher the index cards and you only had a chance to buy them, get them on your lunch break, just got paid and told your child you would drop them off before X hour class when required. And it’s not a soft failure for a child to flunk a class, the entire grade for the love of a paper left in their room I can bring them, left precisely because of it being such a huge portion of their grade, anxiety about how much is riding on that one thing, their little brother got ahold of their backpack not because it was left somewhere haphazardly but because they had to watch them while I worked late and do their homework at the same time, their sibling is 2 and doesn’t know any better; it too conveniently precludes identifying/helping students, families experiencing problems, needing help or needing you just to leave them alone, stop lumping them in with today’s cultural stereotypes. Backpack with important project left at grandmas because she’s ill, needs care, doesn’t qualify for a nursing home, we don’t want to put her in a nursing home, stumbling out of there at midnight when we got her to bed, us exhausted; Catholic school being an extension of the Catholic Church committed to representing god, helping others exc. that matters more. Precludes help reaching a child with noted memory issues, who may need to be seen by a neurologist, learning specialist even late diagnosed in high school, high school sometimes in smaller, parochial schools, select areas encompassing what would be middle school grades elsewhere; how well did that hard line work with famed Harry Potter character Neville Longbottom, hint it didn’t. Except similar to the discarded dunce caps, we know better than a fictional wizard school stuck in the 1960’s; at least we’re supposed to, capable of acting like it…. Stanford‘s ban on hard liquor follows typical collage policy mixed messages saying publicly they want more responsible adult students acting their ages as opposed to closer to their shoe sizes while simultaneously assuming the same fragility on both sides alleged discussing the New Mexico university parameters on offensive statements, smacking of mounting hypocrisy they want to change campus party culture, limit risky behavior, preludes to binge drinking by refusing to allow hard liquor, refusing to deal with something; knowing roughly 5 years ago college policies managing drunk students was to call their parents to deal with it… it’s better to ban hard alcohol. It’s better to ban hard liquors than it is to institute alcohol education realizing k-12 school ended at 18, drinking age is 21 and they’ll reach that on your campus, teach the difference between beer and Smirnoff Vodka…It’s better to ban hard alcohol than to teach student party goers of both genders, remembering rape isn’t limited to females, heterosexual encounters, party safety lest you be either victim or accused; beyond things like minding your drink for drugs persons might have slipped into it, not succumbing to pressures to drink more than your comfortable with, knowing your own personal alcohol limits, how alcohol affects you. Putting forth drinking till you pass out isn’t normal, acceptable, an ok part of party going, don’t drink until you pass out because it makes you more vulnerable to becoming a victim, makes you unable to remember the next morning what you did the night before, rendering you less able to recount what happened if you are a victim, participate in your own defense if you are the accused…Yet it’s better to ban hard liquor, wrongly presuming college kids don’t get drunk on beer, wine and wine coolers, mixed drinks made from wine or beer and soda, orange juice, playing drinking games, aforementioned beer pong, than it is to have and open honest conversations about what consent actually looks like, its legal definitions rather than the social gray areas these students, all of America have grown up with… Closely connected, having an open honest conversation about what rape really looks like that it’s more than jumping out of an alley and attacking a girl to quote later convicted Steubenville rapist Ma’lik Richmond, who followed up saying I didn’t do that…. Science’s Next Great Bad Idea: Make Eating Solely A Recreational Activity

Current Trends by Natasha Sapp

Reported by The Atlantic in July; now Soylent 2.0, having spent 2 years actually in development before anyone outside science magazines picked up, the story or their premise, believes it’s ready for their next step and is going after our coffee trying to replace it with a green tea derivative. Wait, this culinary atrocity just waiting to happen has been being developed for 2 years, Atlantic’s author remarking Soylent makers despite warnings it isn’t yet a full time food substitute, rumored not to eat much, and no one reported on it until July 2016 and in a progressive publication not nightly national news; deceptively, covertly kept under the radar much? Hard to believe Ted-Cruz-ites, conservatives forever worried and warning about bar codes on our foreheads, the debt apocalypse is coming to America, the religious apocalypse is coming to the world types wouldn’t have something to say about slowly replacing food with nutrient supplement drinks best described as sludge, worst described as sperm like, sweet non-toxic Play-Doh; if nothing more than to call it alarmist nonsense on par with global warming and evolution as junk science to advance liberal agendas. Bringing us back to their coffee revamp, containing all the Soylent you love (or can stomach) with 150 mg of caffeine, coffee flavoring and L-Theanine, the amino acid found in green tea. Packs of 12 for $39, 37.50 if you ‘subscribe to the liquid life style;’ whatever that means. Yes remembering studies showing how good, how bad coffee is on your health it may have been forgotten coffee is derived from a natural, grown bean, several kinds and types available, ground up to varying degrees comprising the drink we know as coffee before milk, sugar, chocolate, soy, machine produced foam are added resulting in our morning latte. Caffeine coming naturally through the strength of the bean, think espresso shots not additives, likely similar to artificial ingredients put in Mountain Dew soda laced brand names of Red Bull energy drinks, but us daily coffee fiends should try Coffiest. Soylent’s Soylent 2.0 modern version certainly not without its critics among them those who point out humanity’s hubris in trying such a thing, people who note their ‘supplement’ is based on currently understood nutrition; article highlighting the trial and error nature of diets, dietary recommendations from days of ship captains, biscuits and scurvy. Government sponsored food pyramid, until its very recent redesign, an experiment, an educated, or not so educated, guess about what was best for humans to consume…. Yes Soylent 2.0 is a symptom of society’s bigger problem, just not ones The Atlantic author seem to insinuate… What makes Soylent 2.0 drastically different, divesting one’s self from colorful descriptions depicting bad, banal taste, regular users from tech world, thing tank vats churning out the stuff admittedly spicing, spiking theirs with natural additives, exotic agave nectar punching up flavor, is their assertion, dialed back or not, it can, could, something similar in our coming future, replace food; they want it to replace food whether it will in 20, 50, 100 or 200 years. And for dubious reasons that scream easiest cop out to actually, legitimately, effectively solving, resolving our other problems in ways amicable to everyone, amenable to planetary environments… Typical of man-made solutions to problems, instead of getting smarter about farming, taking up less space, rotating crops for less soil depletion, creating a solve for said soil depletion; they try to get us to eat something that’s not food, more not food than TV dinners, processed meats, fast food pink slime fillers, demonized preservatives, at least those taste good… Instead of getting smarter about safe, natural meat production less harmful to animals and people, it’s food is too extravagant for our exploded population; instead of asking if adjacent westernized, mid-level still considered developing nations can create comparable environments for animals bred as food, it’s here’s a nutritious food substitute better get used to it because dooms day is coming. If Dubai can put a rainforest inside a hotel in the middle of a desert, one guesses they can probably do both; instead they put their efforts into Soylent… Hubris indeed from the very people who gave us partially hydrogenated this, high fructose corn syrup that, sucrose this, margarine is heathier than butter, sugar substitutes not sugar, innumerable preservatives that need a pronunciation guide on the backs of dried beans, pastas, added into pepper, breads, and we’re supposed to trust them on their miraculous new supplement, why? Because they aren’t part of the shady conglomerate food industry putting chemical additives into food to make it more addictive to fleece more money off people who are ponds over weight and still can’t get enough; particularly paying attention to the origins of thinking behind Soylent products. Allegedly Rob Rhinehart Silicon Valley computer coder turned supplement guru, who seriously needs lessons in work life balance, didn’t have time to eat full meals so taught himself physiological chemistry thus Soylent was born; prompting the proceeding comment, “He was too busy to eat real food, but not too busy to brush up on “physiological chemistry” to invent the equivalent of mixing coffee with soymilk and a couple multivitamins, and sell it for 40 bucks. Silicon Valley in a nutshell.” But they too are marketing a product for which they hope to get paid money, lots and lots of money. Salon lacking any background on why they aimed for a coffee substitute. Only real reason to do so, Soylent has everything except that energy jolt keeping overworked, harried America’s running at top speed on less and less sleep; never mind the dangers of self-taught and hey is this Ben Carson was taught chemistry by an angel, had an angel help him through his chem final, the Egyptian pyramids were alien grain silos crap again? … To be challenged also among broad generalizations indicting our eating habits, ‘American diet’ as defined by who, ‘American diet’ according to who, surveys that are inaccurate by virtue of people who try to seem healthier than they are or by people who giggling-ly admit to eating too much McDonald’s, not keeping a daily, weekly food journal are unaware of the healthy choices they are making?… American diet’ as defined not strictly by people pointing to USDA recommendations on salt, sugar, saturated fats, trans fat danger, meat consumption, processed foods but by same flawed logic, like-minded people who recommend completely raw diets on the concept we’re leaching all vitamins, minerals and nutrition out of food when cooking it, if we don’t leave our vegetables crisp and our pasta perfectly andante, even when we do. A doctor who railed not merely against sugar, high fructose corn syrup, wanting to card children for soda when we can’t yet successfully card them for alcohol, but had a problem with orange juice as in squeezed from orange to glass by you the drinker. Enter junk science 101 coinciding with constant mixed information about health benefits attached to specific foods, harmfulness of highly desired edibles, benefits to key types of exercise in combatting X disease, exposing supposed truths about foods themselves…Christian television nutrition expert linking sugar and cancer; however, it wasn’t just processed sugar shoved into everything today, people’s stereotyped constant consumption of cakes, cookies and soda. Most people know white potatoes, corn and peas are starches, carbs more than vegetables per say; she crossed the line though talking about the glycemic index of fruits apples, banana carrots being high in sugar, implied suggestion you stay away if seeking to avoid cancer…Speaking of money, who and where are people spending $600 a month on food and for what household size; I as a single person spend roughly $200 on food same projected price as Soylent. My friend spends just under $900 a month feeding 6, 4 who are kids necessitating occasional treats, increased variety and kid friendly options… We put preservatives in foods so they last more than 1-3 days; there isn’t more food waste than already exists. Or that salt was the original preservative; salting jerky-ing meats, home canning vegetables kept them stored and edible through long winters, dry spells, nature induced shortages throughout the Little House on the Prairie years. We began iodizing table salt and’ marketing’ it to correct en mass iodine deficiency causing goiters (a bulge in the neck due to an enlarged thyroid), sensitivity to cold constipation, thyroid dysfunction, but more importantly developmental, intellectual delays in children; iodine deficiency resurging as health officials recommend reduction of salt intake, people reach for ‘healthier’ alternatives in seal salt and other sources absent precious iodine. We pasteurize, ‘cook’ milk to keep bacteria from the cow, its utters infecting what we drink, sickening unto death vulnerable infants, children…Subsequently pesticides and herbicides (weed killers) weren’t merely the brain child of huge industrial farmers looking to amass more money (there is a reason the government doles out farm subsidies, farming is a sure way to the poor house) they were invented to keep bugs from eating whole swaths of crops like locusts, meaning farmer can’t gain his meager profit, people don’t have looked for vegetables on their plates and cost surrounding what is available is enormous. Herbicides kept weeds from robbing crops of needed soil components to grow, kept them from being chocked out before gaining a chance to sprout or bloom the expected fruit, vegetable… Otherwise we get what this woman found: a black widow in her organic grapes, or the brown recluses spilling forth from a pumpkin set to be carved for Halloween last year… Still, despite the class realities, the impracticality realities an article going back as far as 2010 asked readers if they would try/eat Soylent green based on the ‘benevolent’ way it was made, dying people were never in any pain, euthanized listening to peaceful nature sounds, circumstances in that there is no food and nowhere to put dead bodies, cremation only contributing to global warming that previously facilitated the death of everything including ocean plankton, then a series of apoca-fic scenarios again asking if you would eat Soylent Green under these conditions? An equally abhorrent instance of science without ethics; no I would not eat Soylent Green because cannibalism, no matter how ‘humane,’ is wrong and if humanity has devolved to eating itself then maybe it should die. Alerting us to flaws in the science of science fiction used to ‘better’ the world through Soylent 2.0 firstly this population explosion people keep referring to when global birthrates are dropping, expected to level off by some projections around the year 2050. Declining birthrates representing tangible threats to economic growth and societal function in say Japan that also lacks nurses and means to care for the aged. U.S. economic factors as little as 5 years ago had women scaling back on the number of children they planned to have, delaying marriage; Swedes are investigating their citizens for sexual dysfunction and what it means for public health, political implications. Seemingly silly to be sure but it’s safe to say at least currently they won’t overpopulate themselves. Secondly 3rd world concerns, obliviously missed is they have so many children for a lack of sex education and birth control, to say nothing of most don’t make it to the age of 5, let alone past that…
We don’t know where science will take us in 20, 50 years; we may have developed a vacuum to suck excess greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere, help reverse their currently ongoing negative chemical reactions with the planet or discover it was indeed cyclical, natural and part of normal planetary aging. Other science fiction holds a much more positive view of earth’s future think Star Trek, and if we’re starting to get the data pads from there, beginning to build light sabers in science labels al-a Star Wars, what else can we do and to what ends toward saving the planet furthering the human existence and its betterment?

This Is Not Parenting Round What Are We Up To Now: Louisiana Mom Arrested After Disciplining Her Kids For Breaking Into A Neighbor’s Home

Current Trends by Natasha Sapp

The Baton Rouge mom telling police openly she spanked 2 of her children with an RCA cord and 1 with a belt after a neighbor informed her the 3 had robbed her house, her witnessing them cart belongings from her home. Police report detailing the eldest son “had lacerations to both his arms and linear marks on his leg, shoulder, back and stomach…” The 12-year-old had “lacerations to his left arm that did break his skin,” and the 10-year-old had “a small scratch on his hand.” Comment summing up brilliantly why this woman was formally charged by police for alleged discipline, “Louisiana mom could face felony charges after punishing sons for robbery” What idiot wrote that headline??? She’s not facing felony charges for punishing her sons-she’s facing felony charges for CHILD ABUSE. Her ‘punishment’ consisted of whipping them until they bled. That’s blatant child abuse. This is not about the punishment, it’s about her taking the punishment way, way across the line into physical abuse. So let’s get the damn headline aligned with the facts here, and not write headlines like they’re click-bait stories.” [Sic]… Actions have consequences a favored line when extoling the acceptability of spanking the virtues it allegedly instills, fosters in young people, defending it as cultural tradition, particularly in the south, part of the American fabric like apple pie, the 4th of July Christmas and Mardi-Gras. Easily forgotten actions have consequences also applies to adults; it isn’t largely dismissed when you come of age, when you reach 18, 21, achieve middle age. Your parenting shouldn’t be making headlines but when it does, when your parenting crosses the line, you better be ready to accept those consequences. Consequences exactly what Schaquana Spears experience in both being booked into jail and having her children taken; consequences one final time not for, spanking, attempting to discipline her kids but for the brutal, physically damaging, abusive way she elected to do so…. Understanding one last time the people charged here, convicted here including Spears were charged under long standing statutes pertaining to child abuse not newer rules outlawing spanking; Adrian Peterson avoided jail time with a plea deal and counseling, Demecio Powel’s abusers are in jail. Video, police photos solidifying in the public mindset what too many call discipline is instead abuse. The will of the majority resoundingly saying they want to end barbaric spanking a gateway to child abuse in some cases sexual more than they want the purported benefits, better behaved kids it, evidence in the modern era has yet to materialize, it produces.
