Because not every adult they encounter has their best interests in mind, so to protect them from the growing list of even supposed to be safe adults who turn out not to be their parents resorted to, out of necessity, telling children to listen only to them…Removing the parenting ‘trend’, ‘problem’ she’s speaking about usually only happens among affluent middle class, almost always white parents of suburbia, her writing immediately screams well off, children attending a good school, idyllic American life complete with white picket fence, not just by her topic but rather her approach to it. Her clarion call for all the other grown-ups in her children’s lives to please tell them what to do, condition them to the rigors of social order, condition them to following the directions of someone not herself, precursors to everything from accepting criticism to holding down a job readily tells readers she doesn’t have a black or brown child subject to totally different conversations just to go out of the house daily and by the grace of god return to it after the school day, that evening. Doesn’t have to worry about if her child encounters a police officer and not merely because she has taught them the ‘holy mantra’ of respecting and obeying all adults so they won’t have a problem; she doesn’t have to worry about it because no cop will look at her kid thinking thug, thief, up to no good, engage in the negrophobia, adultification common to young, black, especially boys, gun them down in the street for looking like— insert flimsy excuse here. They don’t have an ‘officer slam’ at her kids’ schools chiefly because they don’t do that in suburbia, in predominately white schools only in urban areas, majority black educational institutions; should they have resource officers, they are A- the properly trained mentors they are supposed to be, not authoritah, power obsessed bullies with badges, handcuffs and guns, because parents insist on it. And B- because her child is white he won’t be given a second glance, if he is he will be given the benefit of the doubt not afforded ethnic students too often today. Translation her son will never be thrown across a classroom for refusing to leave independent ‘he wouldn’t have his phone out in class because he’s not allowed to take it to school; ‘see this is what I’m talking about, situation X, Y, Z arises because children listen to no adults apart from their parents,’ ignoring the larger problems of poor classroom management, student engagement and administrative overreaction. It certainly wouldn’t deteriorate into example 2’s restrain hold for a student ‘involved in a fight’ to picking her up, slamming her to the ground leaving a knot over her eye then failing to report it, lying about it to make it appear like an accident; should such a scenario take place, officer would be immediately fired, dido example 3 body slamming a 15 year old student trying to stop a fight involving her sister, resulting in no charges for the obviously errant officer. Further both due to her children being likewise economically stable, no one is going to accuse her son of ‘stealing’ milk, handcuff him, let alone charge him with larceny over that 65 cent carton, regardless of being on the free lunch program and forgetting his milk, the true story of the black teen. If her child was caught in the hall without a hall pass by his school resource officer trying to use the bathroom during lunch his Caucasian, ‘clean cut,’ nice clothes look would automatically make him more believable talking about his medical issue’s roll in why he needs to go to the bathroom now than the black kid with ill-fitting school uniform, baggy pants, ‘bad neighborhood,’ negative reputation, he wouldn’t have to resort to throwing an orange at the wall relieving his frustration at trying to get an adult to listen, forget body slammed to the floor hitting his head unto knocked out; officer then scrambling to confiscate witness student’s cellphone video to cover his violent behavior. He would have been escorted to the bathroom, afterwards his next class or the principal’s office with a side recommendation to bring a doctor’s note to the school nurse to avoid future incidents. In fact, her examples of common parenting conundrums and fellow parents’ compulsive need to fix, ‘to protect from failure’ tells readers she’s never had so much as a mildly negative experience with any of her child’s teachers. Where the teacher was blatantly wrong, overbearing, was mean, incompetent in ways we’ve seen dominating headlines, punishing students for speaking their native Spanish, lowering grades of students for refusing to stand during the pledge of allegiance, this case in solidarity with those objecting to bad treatment of native Americans, appropriate since the student was native American. Writing derogatory remarks on the faces of slow readers, writing humiliating, name calling, inappropriate remarks on graded homework, humiliating younger grade students for mistakes in front of the whole class, student recordings of the despicable things said by teachers about themselves, fellow classmates, one teacher who, in reference to a new 3rd grade class being formed took votes on who to throw out of her classroom, not at all how the school planned to handle the transition. At least in no story, scenario she’s heard about concerning her children, you never know what might be going on your child isn’t telling you about; too scared, ashamed, busy thinking it’s their fault. Here’s a big one, had unrealistic expectations, being well off as she doubtlessly is her and her husband could likely afford pre-school, live in an area where there are plenty of choices for pre-kindergarten education, less prone to huge waiting lists unless it was for a posh academy, won the luck lottery of getting them in to a free option, so her children were right where they were supposed to be, managed most of the things on their beginning of the year assessment, already acclimated to a school setting breezing through kindergarten as basic review, how said teachers are oriented to teach…. Yet even inside the white suburbia wonderland less and less Americans inhabit there is a reason to push back against this return to previous decades’ parenting, the drive not to be the so called neo-parent obsessed about things, supposedly helicopter parenting your kids, encasing them in bubble wrap; gone are the days of it takes a village to raise a child and the idea you can trust your village to help in raising your child instead routinely having to protect them from it. Having a high schooler born as early as 1998 or as late as 2001 and a middle schooler younger than that, Speer is old enough to have grown up in the shadow of Etan Patz and Adam Walsh, if nothing else seeing the TV movie detailing the tragedy of Steven Gregory Stayner and Timothy White, Polly Klaas and JonBenet Ramsey where too few short years before her oldest child’s birth to be forgotten, brushed under the rug. Considering closely speculation on just how Adam Walsh became pray for psychopath Odis Toole, his parents pieced together that while at a Florida Sears in 1981 they shopped while he entrained himself with a store’s video game display alongside some older boys, older boys became rowdy and loud asked to leave by store security guard, Adam 6, too scared to tell guards his parents were in the store, he wasn’t with them ejected from the store too, found decapitated, only thing left—his head. But all adults, adults in specific authoritative positions should be able to tell our kids what to do…have changed in terms of awareness; it’s not merely these old cases, the steady trickle through the years of missing, turned up dead children fueling words written here. Putting aside Jaycee Dugard at11 should have been able to walk the short way to her school bus, Shawn Hornbeck was no match for the gun Michael Devlin shoved in his face to gain his compliance riding home from a friend’s house or that Ben Ownby was shoved into a white van getting off his school bus, are the endless list of new cases yearly, when home isn’t safe the way it wasn’t for Polly Klaas, Elizabeth Smart, baby Lisa Irwin, fathers who’ve impeded the kidnappings of barely school age children. An unmistakable predator who pushed his way into a 13 year old’s home having followed her from school, fortunately able to fight him off, that was May 2016; by July same year store surveillance videos saw the attempted kidnapping of a 4 year old directly in front of mom. Paralleling a nearly identical years older case were a child fought off her would be kidnapper one aisle over from mom, child self-defense class credited with saving her life, letting her know what to do, problem: we need child self-defense, advanced stranger danger classes, but combat blogs by a parent who thinks every adult that crossed their child’s path should have carte blanche to tell them what to do; a Philadelphia abduction thwarted by screaming little brother, both 5 short years ago. It was 2 years ago a toddler was snatched out of his stroller, rescued by older siblings chasing him, his capture down local streets, gotten away from a disturbed teen, all happening when the babysitter turned her back for a minute; fast-forward to 2016 again, attempted kidnapping 13 year old dragged through the Florida Dollar General store, mother doing everything she can to stop him, peeping tom in Colorado caught on home surveillance footage eying teen through probably her bedroom window. Last year too was the year of creepy clowns spotted, reported across the south trying to lure kids with copious amounts of candy, wads of cash in Greenville South Carolina, chasing kids on their way to school in Macon and Dublin Georgia; clown standing in the road causing a car accident there. Graduating to social media threats aimed at schools in Philadelphia, keeping students in at recess location—Long Island, New York, a teen in Kentucky arrested for scaring people in a ditch; clown related Instagram posts out of Huston, Texas threatening to kidnap students, kill teachers. McDonald’s icon Ronald McDonald forced into keeping a low profile, police, cities broadcasting extra warnings, parents doubtlessly keeping their kids in doors, switching their traditional Halloween venue; luckily these clowns frightened children keeping them away, still causing the death of one teen during an altercation while wearing a clown mask. 2017 not without its news making cases, a few months into the new year and we’re hearing about the baby nearly kidnapped from a Dunkin Doughnuts in Philadelphia; following a story last month about a man arrested trying to beckon a 6 year old out of a Riverside California grocery store bathroom, post lingering there tempting her with a treat, thankfully under arrest. Switching gears slightly, technology today plays a huge role smartphone apps, social media pages redefining stranger danger potentially luring a Virginia teen to her death; another father who confronted his daughter’s would be kidnapper the very night he planned to take her after seeing her correspondence on her phone. You can’t help but wonder if Susan Speer is this ignorant about threats to children the moment they step out the door from random adults how diligent she is about informing her tween and teens about apps like kik, if a 30 year old wants to meet you, even in a public place don’t, rules for internet/smart phone usage I don’t want you talking to older people online, tell me if someone is sending you inappropriate things; then again having sons she doesn’t face the increased threat to girls, young women…. Highlighting a disturbing pattern: citizens who believe a person’s achievement in one area, reaching of an albeit fantastic goal, garnering the title, teacher, principal, coach, police officer, celebrity on reality TV even, renders them more trustworthy than the average person despite school exposed trends of ‘passing the trash;’ transferring problem teachers accused in sexual misconduct to different schools, many times equipped with glowing recommendations. Whether it’s the principal suspended post permitting drop out, explicit rapper Fetty Wap to film a music video including dancer on a poll, or the assistance principal arrested for the murder of a pregnant teacher allegedly to hide their affair, Honey Boo-boo family matriarch Mamma June dropping jaws via her extraordinary weight loss as The Young Turks Anna Kasparian reminded viewers while explaining why she was covering, an unusual for them story, less flattering headlines she was once at the center of concerning fiancé/husband Sugar Bear accused of molesting her children and she started out believing him. Repeat public response to Subway’s Jared seen as an icon, inspiration after losing 245 lbs. arrested, pleading guilty to child porn charges, crossing state lines to engage in commercial sex acts, underage sex with younger and younger girls; exposed by a friend who reported him to authorities hearing his inappropriate comments about middle school girls recording conversations for the FBI. Remember Oklahoma City cop Daniel Holtzclaw after years of raping, sexually assaulting women he pulled over, preying on individuals whose criminal records, prior criminal histories made them un-credible complainants, witnesses until he cross the wrong grandmother. Doctors molesting patients under the guise of exam, the influence of in office anesthetics, anesthesia; those were adults but not the gymnasts one USA gymnastics doctor is accused of abusing under the pretense of sports medicine. We have a self-admitted p*ssy grabbing president facing a lawsuit alleging rape of an underage, 13 year old girl for god sakes and a politician who has followed in his footsteps caught on tape groping a woman. But I want adults to unquestionably be able to tell my kids what to do and them, not only listen, but obey; I want someone likeminded to Mike Huckabee giving my son the Josh Duggar response when asked about appropriate boundaries with girls, calling pedophile and sexual predator tendencies youthful indiscretion…. Coming down from the most horrible, absolute worst scenario things that can happen to kids when dubious adults are permitted to tell them what to do, kids are conditioned to listen to adults with few restrictions, it quickly reaches past the ancient grouchy neighbor, the ‘pissy only man who dumped urine on a teen whether or not he vandalized the man’s lawn or the ‘Jimmy Carter look alike’ who started a confrontation with a local skateboarding teen waiting until half way through his accosting the young man to clearly articulate his point about which residents are allowed in skate area X, staunchly refusing to give the young man his board which the older person had snatched from him, only reason he was still hanging around, to by the end of video discover he wasn’t in the sectioned off skate park but the driveway and sidewalks beside it. Children, teens, young adults, nor their parents for that matter, can predict when they will be verbally attacked, physically intimidated, if not assaulted, easily something worse; hints their caution in broadly telling their kids to mindlessly obey authority; be it the ranting woman in the skate park who called police about teens allegedly cussing in said park (though video provides no evidence of that) the child screamed at by an ‘elder’ for selling candy outside a Target probably for a school function, fundraising for band equipment, field trips, 4H, maybe enough for groceries, the light bill at home. Gentleman who bought the $80 worth of candy to settle the confrontation sadly correct when he said if it had girl scout cookies, been a white girl selling them it probably would have been a different story; eliminating race, girl scout selling their cookies period would have netted the girl a pat on the head not a lecture about how she should be ashamed of herself, was breaking the law, police were on their way….. But bringing in only ruthlessly practical reality, extrapolating from the original authors point, teachers can’t teach, coaches can’t coach and managers can’t manage now; however, it has nothing to do with special snowflakes never taught to take direction, criticism, instruction from people outside their parents, allowed total disrespect, disregard for authority, rather their own ineptitude. As alluded to above her kids statistically had the benefit of pre-school, were normal not special needs, she’s of average intelligence herself all boiling down to, no one is going to handcuff her 3rd grade child for kicking a school resource officer in the course of a trip to the bathroom gone horribly wrong, hardly limited by both her children being past that age or taught better than to kick anyone, but singularly because blessedly, her children don’t have those neurological deficits manifesting in behavior problems. Thanks to listed factors complementing nicely her authority loving, always back the teacher no matter what attitude, no one is going to label her a problem adult, problem parent when she reminds them of her oldest son’s diagnosis and IEP, when she gets special ed. to test her second child for next grade readiness overriding his classroom teacher wanting to hold him back for his ADHD behavior exacerbated by a delayed medication adjustment courtesy of foot dragging by the local neurological, behavioral health center and backed up appointments, found first grade ready just so you know, or when she tells her 3rd son’s kindergarten teacher he doesn’t need extra help he needs to be taught like he’s never seen this stuff before because he hasn’t seen it before not having gone to pre-school, facts his kindergarten assessment clearly showed. Her child’s kindergarten teacher didn’t belittle him for his ‘messy’ handwriting that was simply beginner handwriting correctable with time practice and, most of all, encouragement; instead my friend’s little boy 2 years later still hates writing in part thanks to his encounter with said teacher. She doesn’t have to fall on her sword, humiliate herself explaining relentlessly she is LD, dyslexic and therefore cannot/should not help her children with subjects like math and English unless they want misspelled words and transposed numbers, depending on teachers to help, damned if she’s going to let her children with diagnoses suffer what she did; not to mention parents today less and less capable of helping their children with homework, regardless their intelligence, completed education level because of expanded things being taught in earlier grades parents never had, curriculum content they don’t remember. No one berates her for cussing, grown adult that she is, when slamming into the brick walls of incompetence, people who must be reminded she is the same age, just a year to 5 years younger than them therefore should be treated on equal footing with them, she never gets that frustrated, doesn’t combat that problem advocating for her children the way no one advocated for her. No one challenges her freedom of speech argument when she chooses to use all the words in the English language including swear words either because to do so is beneath her middle class standards versus poor working class persons or ‘out of place in a school;’ forget its last ditch effectiveness at getting these people’s attention, offending people who should be offended by their own ignorance, failing competence and the child’s life they will ultimately ruin if they continue down the path they are. She isn’t charged with understanding, making them understand picking her battles, that cussing comes with ADHD and she will not excessively punish her sons, any of them for being factually accurate or protesting, through using their words not their hands, BS at the hand of a teacher who deliberately frustrates them, provokes them, asks for chaos they encounter due to their inability to connect with children, compel them to want to behave, want to follow directions by possessing some knowledge of children, their development, perspective, sans fear, violence, threat of punishment. The plight of my friend dealing with her autistic and ADHD sons respectively, teaching all her sons to speak up for themselves lest they become victims like she, children she babysat for became…. it’s hardly the child’s fault when their teachers’ preferred method of classroom management is taping student’s mouths closed at one school in Texas for talking out of turn, talking too much, cutting off one student’s braid to get her to stop playing with it, the excuse for allegedly throwing another student’s, present at another school shoes in the trash, only for teacher one to still be teaching in the same class after reports of the impromptu haircut. When teachers are documented on video doing what this older teacher was doing to a kindergarten/first grade student for failing to seek permission to go to the bathroom, taking too long, playing too long in the bathroom, upon coming out he is lifted up, back shoved against the wall, grabbed by the face; then according to school witnesses, hauled into the bathroom for a loud, screaming rant heard and reported to officials by 3 lunch ladies. It’s the PTSD moment Dr. Drew Pinsky had right there on air at HLN remembering his own adjacent experience roughly the same age, too ashamed to tell, thinking it was his fault, never talking about it that proves with reverberating finality adults shouldn’t have that level of power over children. As if already detailed material hadn’t, in addition to the middle school teacher caught dumping pencil shavings from a pencil sharpener into a child’s mouth apparently because he was slouching, leaning back with his mouth open during the lesson, no proof he wasn’t still listening though. Having seen video and/or news stories depicting exactly what teachers are doing in the process of educating our children, dragging a 1st grader across the floor to the front office after he was ‘disruptive,’ reinstated after a legal battle citing improper, non-existent training, using a belt off their own pants to hit children supposedly breaking up an unseen fight, interrupting learning with terror ensuring nothing else got done that class period, confronting ‘unruly’ 3rd graders by telling them you plan to leave the classroom/school outside doors unlocked letting in a potential shooter to shoot or kill them….And that doesn’t include the disturbing, injurious violence students are subjected to by teachers, administrators—a 20 year veteran teacher kicking a 5 year old in the head for going to the bathroom without permission during nap time, like the 7 year old who received a broken, jaw, several missing teeth for being ‘disruptive,’ the teen who had to have his leg amputated post a fight where he was slammed to the ground, could not walk, was delayed medical attention for want of ‘adults’ realizing how serious it was, lying about events, video showing frame by frame what happened. What indeed does happen to documented special needs students in specialized schools or programs… Managers can’t manage currently absent what type, generation worker they’re dealing with chiefly because they, business owner/manager don’t have the foggiest idea what they are doing as evidenced by ‘reality shows’ Kitchen Nightmares, Tabitha’s Takeover, Bar Rescue on air sensations, alive and well in re-runs comprehending there are real businesses, real employees, real supervisors behind them; most who couldn’t function in a regular working environment and saw their ‘way out’ as opening their own business channeling the worst of The Devil Wears Prada, one secret behind the 50% new business failure rate. Managers can’t manage because the average ‘manager’ brought in to oversee a company, project, store doesn’t adequately understand product, inner workings, procedures exc. of the business in question, good/service they are trying to manage, marching in with extensive plans on how things are to be done going forward, failing to listen to employees who’ve been doing it 30 plus years; previous management position a McDonald’s, Starbucks, Wal-Mart and they’ve been tasked with managing a non-profit job placement facility, equally juxtaposed venue. Managers are abysmal at managing having long ago lost the battle with how to motivate their employees to do what they want, perform their best or see the value in how the boss wants things done; the Jetson’s infamous Mr. Spacely goes all the way back to 19 62 and things haven’t changed much. So many already dysfunctional moving parts before throwing into the mix this generation holding it’s unique set of indecipherable quarks. Factors key in millennial disconnect so prominently pronounced, because workers fluently using current technology don’t have to be the boss’ lapdog 40 hours a week to be productive, produce desired results; mangers/bosses who haven’t gotten over their incredulous jealousy at ‘how easy’ current generations have it, paradigms that refuse to shift, research data proving workers allowed to set their own hours, determine their own schedules, work from where they wish, take opportunities like flex time work longer and achieve more…
Reactions to ‘disciplinary issues,’ easily downgraded to things you run into while operating a school, perhaps the untold story of ‘school infractions,’ easily rephrased to common situations you should manage appropriately, but not take too seriously unless they involve safety, when you run a school, teach in a school, are a resource officer, aide in a school; our framing of incidents the missing piece to fully grasping spiking occurrences, ‘behavior problems,’ holding equal importance with subheadings a-la ‘the astronomical number of kids acting out, running around like maniacs in school,’ ‘engaging in egregious actions like hitting, kicking or spitting on teachers.’ Far less the impact of newfangled parenting low on discipline, boundaries, too much emphasizing children as special, communicating rules don’t apply to them and directly tied to our failing responses; no, not a call for more authoritah, more militaristic, police state style regulation of classrooms, in fact the opposite. Interesting viewing every one of the violent altercation headlines from the South Carolina student thrown across the classroom to the student shoved then choked by a teacher’s aide, educators weighed in through comment sections across the internet…Or understanding maybe the problem isn’t your child, it’s the rules, the setup itself that kindergarten, research shows, is rigged for girls based on a popularity contest between teacher and student, do they like your child or not, how good is your child at social graces, effort, following directions, cooperating with others; you’ll note too, the lion’s share of students constantly in trouble are boys arguably miserable, hating school when gotten in trouble for talking about shooting a dinosaur in a writing assignment, writing from the perspective of a Nazi soldier to the point of suspensions. Kindergarten isn’t what it was when we went half day, milk and cookie for snack, sequencing, dot to dots, ABC songs, clock reading and simple words the, that is, a, at and plenty of free organic play/learning time; replaced now by all day instruction with teacher led academics, sight words, writing journals, independent and buddy reading counting to 100 by intervals, 30 minute nap/quiet rest period and 15 minutes of recess at the end of the day for the article linked below’s school, after lunch for my friends kids currently and during their kindergarten year. For all the problems with bus lines generating national headlines shouldn’t we have come to the conclusion by now there is a need to change or eliminate bus lines, engage younger kids in Simon says, car songs, something to keep their hands and minds occupied not tempted to run around, resorting to hitting teacher when they try to threaten, manhandle them back in line, make standing like a statue a game. I saw a parent in Wal-Mart this week cleverly get her kids to walk straight and orderly out of the store using the tile on the floor, no screaming, yelling, threats of losing privileges, getting a spanking by telling them to pick a line of tiles and follow it. Or that the expectations for learning have drastically increased since any parent attended school translating into school environments where they are supposed to sit like little drones, rarely so much as twitching, teachers dearly wishing they could duct tape the little tikes to their chairs, yelled at, admonished if they wiggle the least little bit; my friend forced to tell her ADHD son’s teachers let him have a stress ball something small to put/ do with his hands and he’ll focus more, listen better, unknown is how many other boys, students generally, not ADHD would benefit from the same technique. Countering teacher agreement with Speer telling her she doesn’t know how many times she’s hand a 5 year old kindergartener when told to do something say ‘my mom/dad I don’t have to, you’re not my boss’ rending gasps from readers, but question, do you have to sound like a boss to get that kindergarten child to do what you want? Can’t you say to a child excited about show and tell, story time, art, whatever: I understand you’re excited about…but for that to happen I need you to sit on the carpet with everyone else? Use phrases known to entice kids to cooperate, give them some ownership, control over what’s happening in a place where adults control everything, kids possess no, few choices; think: can you be a big boy/girl and show my how you…?…There remain multiple articles, studies, research endeavors proving select things taught in school turned out to be dangerous applied to the real, working world. But I’m still going to convey the message to my kids these adults have ultimate power over them in light of what Bill Cosby did to of age and underage young women, forget Roger Ailes, Bill O’Riley, Dennis Hastert’s molestation of high school boys, boarding school sex scandals, the Seattle mayor accused of decades ago abuse, pedophilia in churches, anyone else tempted to shout I don’t think so? Imagine what good would have come of adults speaking up about Jerry Sandusky and the oddities they saw, if students had been taught to be brave enough to report the teacher duct taping their eyes and mouth, putting roaches on their face, making them eat things that tasted funny (his own semen on crackers); horrific abuse might not have gone on for 30 odd years… Of course it’s ok for kids to fail and they should under minor, everyday life circumstances; still this is where the author’s stories don’t line up with the crux of her argument, main point, adults all and everywhere in her children’s life should be able to tell them what to do their response: to snap to, a complete non sequitur to her encounter with the lab partner mom who just wanted to fix it somehow post both their sons flunking their lab project by failing to turn it in on time. It has nothing to do with the dorm mate who falls to pieces because ‘mommy wasn’t there to manage their life’ and utterly disregards anything else that could be going on with that person, i.e. onsets of several mental illnesses known to strike this age group, significantly undermines survey collected data by college students whose biggest worries are about incurred debt and will there be a job for me to get upon obtaining my degree. Addressing trend commentary regarding the uptick in students seeking colligate mental health services and self-reported personal crisis, A- did researchers bother to define crisis in the relaxed, slang terms students did, did they again bother to check in with students as little as a week, a month later to see if what they termed a crisis was still effecting them, reporting suggests not. B- God forbid we’ve finally made marginal headway in destigmatizing mental health problems, seeking mental health treatment no longer taboo; one colligate center for mental health executive director dismissing right out of hand the Speer assertion explaining everything from college being more accessible brings lower income students availing themselves of first time access to mental health services ever, to there being more services available on campus than in the surrounding community, concluding saying you don’t get a 38% increase in demand for services from ‘a lack of resilience’ and warned against criticizing them for lacking a characteristic, judging them for seeking help naming it victim blaming, he would be more accurate to call it parent shaming…. Far more dangerously insidious than she’s smart enough to fully comprehend she’s being, we think there are no, only positive consequences to the type of parenting Speer advocates, to the old school, to children minding society’s adults all (note the expansion to every social ill listed in the comment section by readers of the original article linked below)—suppositions proven totally untrue. Take little Zachary Williams (pronounced za-car-ree) removed from school by a confused grandfather because school staff mistakenly thought the man was his afterschool care, thankfully this was simply a confused grandfather not a predator taking advantage; however, his mother was perplexed as to why he would go off with a complete stranger, confusion deepening when she asked him why and he smiles shyly saying I don’t know, not answering at all. Readers may be asking by now why mom is so muddled arriving at the conclusion she told the kindergartener to mind his teachers the same way he minds mom and dad, a seemingly reasonable request, age appropriate explanation of behavior expectations during school, until something like this happens. Upon seeing stories like Zachary’s, we immediately go to either that would never happen at my child’s school citing policy or the recurring parent mantra ‘my child would never do that to be shocked by Dateline, other news show set ups putting kids and their parents to the test producing negative results to the exact contrary of what parents swore their children had been taught, life lessons believed mastered. Further we’ve deluded ourselves believing those instances in childhood, the ingrained respect for adult authority has no, only positive lasting effects on our kids once they mature to adulthood, again untrue; who remembers the 10-12 year old phone scam were someone calls a fast food restaurant claiming to be the police asking mangers to call in a female employer for a strip search on allegations of stealing an ordeal for one victim profiled by Primetime that included jumping jacks, naked spanking and oral sex on the male manger, scenarios playing out across the country were even the subject of a Law and Order Special Victims Unit episode. Psychologists speculating, in regards to the compliance, that the regimented structure of the fast-food work environment made people easy to manipulate, younger workers in particular; victim’s response to both the reporter and by extension online commentary pegging her stupid, asking how she could let someone do that to her, was to say she was taught when an adult tells you to do something you do it, important to remember she was maximum age 18 when it happened likely on her first job. Dovetailing into the sexual exploitation of teen fast-food workers by their managers who felt forced into sex to keep their jobs; it’s the argument in favor of corporal punishment, scoffed at correlations between childhood spankings and domestic violence, protestations that children grown into adults know the difference contrasted beside abuse cases rampant even in teen relationships. We keep ignoring reincarnations of the Milgram experiment, where people would do terrible things if a person in high enough authority told them to, not in a research lab but in the real world, habitual patterns of bad things resulting from our pathological respect for authority, obsession with respect…. Facing brutal practicality head on talking about kids and failure we must come to the realization then failure doesn’t carry the same connotation it did back in the day, small failures inconsequential on the road of life compared to having an arrest record, getting into drugs, going to jail, having a felony on your record; absent those things you may not able to ‘lose your shit pick it up and move forward’ treating it like a recipe for an omelet, isn’t that what the 2008 financial crisis taught multitudes of older workers thrust back into the job market? Once more don’t parents, we, larger society own part of what we think is happening to emerging adults; their lack of maturity, their ‘fragile’ sensibilities not in terms of helicopter parenting but in the cutthroat nature we’ve cultivated around college admissions, not boiled down to the best person with a mix of academic achievements and extracurricular activities getting in, but taking that to its ultimate extreme, almost the sole, entire reason parents are trying, if at all possible, for the posh pre-schools, a certain elementary school feeding to the ‘it’ junior high/middle school, high school, enhancing their chances of getting into an Ivy League college, nationally famous college, perceived leg up in getting a job, college degrees fulling the market at such a rate where you went to college mattering more than many older adults might think. Speer and the rest buying her mantra painfully oblivious to facts these are parents holding 1, 2 college degrees working jobs, not careers, professions that barely make ends meet, don’t allow for a college fund for their kids, these are parents still paying off their own student loans, maybe they didn’t finish high school and their offspring are not only on track to finish but have a chance at college, something they never had. Don’t we own, as parents, our children’s fear of failure in a different way; in the big deal we made out of good grades, common phrases we drilled into our kids about what we’d do to them if they ever drank, did drugs, think pot, came home pregnant, got a girl pregnant, failed a class, instilling the concrete idea we would stop loving them, shun them, hate them if they did any of those things and more besides? But counselor commenting said kids need to know they can be human, can fail; yet the failure they can’t handle is the very failure they shouldn’t have to, losing your love, which they won’t but you didn’t make that clear enough to them. Catalyst behind babies born, left in toilets, shoeboxes, trashcans; parents who wouldn’t have been happy at the news but would have preferred it to their teen’s actions, them spending years in jail for killing their child because they didn’t know what else to do. The very failure they can’t handle is one that shouldn’t be and isn’t covered in the ‘adulting’ coping class, where minor mistakes can derail everything never to recover, be able to reasonably support oneself. Don’t we as parents, community members always calling everyone without a job a dead beat, degenerate, unless they are old or disabled, then own the pressure we place on students to do well, never fail, sending them off knowing just how much it costs us to grant them higher educations; aren’t we partially then responsible for the high suicide rate, the pressure students put on themselves going to institutions a-la MIT? Don’t we own, society wide, the problem, not regarding harsher analysis of helicopter parenting, flagging initiatives to stop it for the greater good, but collective contributions to the broader issue in our unending insistence on negatively stereotyping this generation to the nth degree, relentlessly calling them unskilled, stupid, useless, primarily because they do things differently, house different priorities than generation yesterday, directly feeding into what they think they can and can’t do, the skills they are programed to believe they are lacking but learned differently; independent how many are working, have careers not merely jobs but struggle to get ahead thanks to student loan debt, work in the gig economy where nap and game rooms, free coffee are their only perks in lieu of paychecks, given worthless equity packages in ‘the company?’ Astronomically important on the other side don’t we own, as a society, individual business owners, hiring managers, if you are, the fact that increased demands are placed on k-12 education, college to fulfill tasks it was never meant to while employers refuse to engage in the most rudimentary job training consistently complaining they can’t find workers? Don’t we, society, the public own the reality getting a job is about every possible thing under the sun but can you do the job, are you the most easily trained person for the position; instead eager employees are constantly caught in the catch 22 of need experience or certifications to make degree serviceable in the job market, no place to get those certifications, experience, employers who refuse to pay the full price for say child psychologists holding PHD’s choosing interns as an alternative, potential employees told they will be bored with the job, the thousand and one legal, harmless, silly things we can be fired for….. Yes it is ‘common sense’ there is no running around pools due to the concrete installed to prevent slippage and the serious injury you could do yourself if you run, slip and face plant, yes that then makes pool dad an undeniable jerk, difficult person to deal with but, when, trailing back to the 1950’s did, ‘wondrous society’ never mean having to deal with difficult people, how millennial, gen Y, snowflake can you get?…. Maybe if all rules made as much common or otherwise sense as the pool dad scenario, we would have far less rule breakers in society big or small, but too many city and state laws fall under what could easily be called the pet peeve ordinances… But for people, parents like Susan Speer it’s still all hail ‘the rules;’ maybe for the sake of not having one more rule to both follow and enforce it’s time pool surfaces got an upgrade similar to the padding of pre-school playground equipment turf , maybe it’s time we stop couching lawsuits as frivolous against McDonalds or Starbucks over serious hot coffee injuries equal to 3rd degree burns resulting from flimsy 5 cents to make cups and 2 cents to make lids that collapse and break so easily, in McDonald’s case serving warm beverages well above a safe degree level, and made the cups better, lids fit properly. Maybe for the sake of our future not looking like a scene for the D movie flick Demolition Man fining people money for violations of the verbal moralities code to satisfy blue haired old ladies thinking they are enhancing their chances of getting into heaven, grumpy old men just mad they couldn’t get away with sagging, flip flops in their youth due to social norms on ‘respectability;’ that fictional city letting loose a dangerous criminal with the opposite of rehabilitation, mental reprogramming to deal with their one remaining problem ‘degenerates’ who lived off their grid, occasionally surfaced to ‘steal’ food because they would rather keep intact their freedom of choice than surrender all will to what state, federal government, school or parent says is best, a little questioning, fighting back against arbitrary rules isn’t a bad thing….

Everyone remembers the adage don’t judge a book by its cover, larger meaning don’t judge people simply on how they look; we know it was an idealistic, unattainable dream but we were always supposed to try, that trying making us better people… And in the era of Donald Trump, where his election seems to signal to his voters, his supporters, those non-confrontational individuals just going along to get along permission to hate, disparage, harass or attack people, fellow citizens, fellow human beings they don’t like it surfaces all the more important we refresh our memories about that old adage and its intrinsic value in our lives… Happenings in America representing a confusing duality when we’ve had a black president and first lady, both exuding class, grace, fortitude and no shortage of exemplary parenting under the withering scrutiny of the public eye only for there to be constant references to their race, repeated comparisons to gorillas, apes, negative references to exotic native rainforest women in grass skirts, political operatives are in hot water for telling her to go live in Africa with said apes, someone holding a job as important as teacher’s aide has to be fired for calling our just departed the Whitehouse first lady a gorilla. When Sikhs were just granted the ability to wear turbans in the military and NYC police forces have implemented similar policies regarding head scarves and turbans for Sikh and Muslim officers. But still the select few in ever dwindling numbers cling to immigrants, people wearing different types of dress, legal U.S. citizens, born U.S. citizens whose heritage is from elsewhere across the globe being a bad, dangerous other to be avoided, demand total assimilation and unique cultural annulation because we can? In 2017 blacks still don’t get a chance because even fewer portions of the population can’t leave their 1750, 1850’s and 1950’s mentalities behind?… Routine readers of my work know my repeated articles on education in multiple facets, none more so than on the patently ridiculous bans, restrictions and codes surrounding otherwise benign, everyday activities, clothing, jewelry, footwear hardly anyone would say anything about except it’s in a school, worn by a student. Know my personal mantra schools should adopt immediately to the betterment of educational institutions everywhere; are they wearing clothes, then they can come to class. Logical distain for backwards priorities filtering out into small towns, tightknit communities nationwide who seek to ban flip flops on tourists to important monuments, not as a safety concern but a class issue; how dare you show up here wearing those, kind of thing. Outlaw see-through clothing worn over not see through clothing rendering indecent exposure null and void; outlaw the wearing thong underwear, underwear implying it won‘t be seen. Quite literally foaming at the mouth they might see the top band of said underwear when a woman bends over to get things off low shelves at the store wearing low rise jeans, a little hard not to buy when you need new outerwear and that’s what’s in the store available. Pajamas worn in public, many times indistinguishable from yoga pants, exercise, workout gear, jogger wear, no more and a host of other personal preferences slated for the chopping block wholesome America wide; seeming to be the hallmarks of wasting time, paper and legislation often earning us lower and lower rankings on freedom scales evaluating westernized, emerging westernized nations…. Policies overly, purposefully targeting multiple ethnicities dress, accessory, hair stylings versus standard Caucasian trends. Notable the headline making Kentucky school drawing unwanted attention to itself even misspelling one, known for decades, predominately African American style, calling it corn rolls instead of corn rows. Further barring ‘afros,’ poof-ed hair longer than 2 inches, two toned hair and on, and on, and on; adding to the national debate on natural hair public figures, celebrities embracing it, not hiding, changing it, to fit 50 plus years of previous cultural norms. Another Chicago parent was incensed by a letter sent home with their child asking them not to put so much oil in their female child’s hair alleging it stunk wanting to prevent teasing from other students; anyone who has dealt with African American hair knows it must be regularly moisturized, usually using oil because that heritage has no oil in their scalp as Caucasian and other peoples’ do, the longer it is the more treatment it requires, coconut oil, their preferred method having no discernable smell, forget an obnoxious one. Her daughter being the only black child in class, with a probable white teacher, raises secondary issues regarding display of complete and utter cultural ignorance; come to find out there was no bullying of the child, conversations with administrators revealed the teacher is known as a complainer, foreign themselves, from Russia, resulting in unspecified discipline for her, again not firing, not review of her fit, alignment with the values of the learning center. Similar to the African American high schooler abruptly facing expulsion over her natural hair when she reported bullying because of it; the school’s principal, as opposed to addressing the bullying going on told the student to change her, suddenly concluded against policy, hair….How about a 9 year old suddenly told by her soccer coach to remove her hair beads citing safety, previously playing for years, same beads no mentioned problem; several parent commenters and child sports league players agreeing on the potential hazard posed. More than total unawareness it takes an hour to put in and take out said beads and braids accompanying them eliminating perception she could take 5, remove them, then play, the arbitrary nature of said enforcement undercutting any argument presented on player wellbeing. Reasoning they could smack fellow players in the face, put out an eye, injure the player themselves doing a head strike on the ball, if hit with a fast moving ball beads are essentially trapped between persons head and the ball creating an abrasion, possibly embedding beads(s) into skin; except tell me, readers, not when the last time that happened was because you instituted a rule about no hair jewelry, adornments, earrings, in professional soccer apparently these rules are standard, but when was the first time this happened necessitating ‘the rule’? And of course because it’s designated a rule it must be followed without question, though both American Youth Soccer Organization and FIFA had nothing on their websites until this incident… Employment, fitness for a job should be based on credentials, experience, aptitude, positive attitude, interview performance, overall appearance in terms of appropriate attire for position sought, not stereotypes about ethnic hair, not nagging a tech jockey to remove his lip/nose, ear ring(s) and goth metal t-shirts, black Tripp NYC shorts/jeans, negative about his tattoos when he isn’t regularly interacting with the public, does solid work behind the scenes in an industry regularly welcoming of less mainstream individuals. Why millennials especially insist on being judged for their work product not wardrobe, because no one should be told the rolled down waistband of nurse, dental student scrub pants is scandalous, next to be told by their employer while wearing the standard uniform, available scrub outfits to please dress in more adult, professional attire, then after complying told the colors you chose are too bright, forced into blacks and greys for a dental hygienist, assistant job. Millennials notorious for abandoning traditional jobs; above tech jockey treated like crap for his lip/nose, ear ring(s) and Goth metal t-shirts, black Tripp NYC shorts/jeans, tattoos began his own business to rousing, self-supporting success. Clothing debates that always end with the students winning either when they transfer out of the school bringing the issue, them, their parent enacts clever revenge wearing the objectionable outfit out among the public to positive compliments, no comment, when national attention alerts people nationwide to what localities, school officials are doing with their tax dollars, public pushback forces schools to drop/change policies, procedures, topics they never should have brought up in the first place…. .’ Lastly here the seriously dangerous implementations, ramifications of listed ordinances, rules; take Ervin Leon Edwards’ story, police called to a gas station to break up suspected domestic dispute, when they arrived whatever fight was already over, but because Louisiana passed a baggy pants ordinance banning the style he was taken into custody, later died in jail post being beaten. Adjacently Kevin Moore out of upstate New York who was savagely beaten by prison guards due to telling them he didn’t want to be housed in the jails mental health ward fearing being seen as a monster; one corrections officer was stealing his ripped out dreads to decorate his motorcycle. Moore subsequently hospitalized 17 days suffering 5 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, numinous facial fractures, multiple contusions to various body parts; cost of the officer’s ‘trophy.’ Why black hair is important, why head scarves, turbans and coverings are making the news, because no one should be arrested over their style of pants, injured anywhere because their hairstyle is an easy target, certainly not die for them… Interestingly enough we say we want African Americans to be and do better than gangs, becoming street thugs, public housing dwellers, ‘breading’ welfare recipients who keep popping out children for increased public assistance benefits, but consistently refuse to believe it when they achieve, live up to our best, not worst expectations. Most recent examples, a black OBGYN resident, Tamika Cross, who says a flight attendant requesting help from any doctors onboard to aide an ailing passenger told her when she stood up offering to respond, “Oh no, sweetie, put [your] hand down. We are looking for actual physicians or nurses or some type of medical personnel, we don’t have time to talk to you.”… Paralleling a black, again female, architect who had similar encounters at her bank double and triple checking her account information, grilling her about her work, googling her architecture firm to see if it was real, even calling her companies HR department to confirm her employment; ratcheting up the racial component is they first deposited her check, then after it cleared, they called her back in to answer questions, go through the verification process described. Funny, like rotten in the state of Denmark kind of funny we, society consistently say we want, particularly black people, to get off welfare, stop using food stamps, stop creating situations mandating the need for either, namely keep their legs closed, cease having children they can’t afford, prone to calling democrats the party of give me, give me, condoning irresponsible behavior only to discover the David Packman Moster.com job experiment story. Where an African American woman, Yolanda Spivey, had an uncomfortable hunch about why she wasn’t getting any job offers despite 10 years experience in insurance, applying for 300 open jobs, going back to college and finishing her degree causing her to compile results the alluded to during her employment site trial. For which she first changed her profile’s race to decline to identify (the sites only opt out option) nothing; next she created a mirror profile changing her name to the less distinctive Bianca White, changed her profile ethnicity to white, transferred the phone number to her cell versus home, input identical application materials as herself and offers poured in. Incongruent realities on social issues staring us in the face be it the skinny person versus the fat person and who offers help, the black person versus the white in a whole host of scenarios, male versus female, Mr. Packman’s co-host wondering what would happen if she changed her gender to male, if her job offers would multiply yet again; still we, society in general, continue mistaken beliefs blacks are fundamentally less qualified, wholly dependent on affirmative action to achieve and overly rewarded for markedly less success. Problem this isn’t new… . Many have daughters across America and what little girl, budding teen doesn’t love to dance; picture this, your child eats, sleeps breaths dance, she has 2 very competent dance instructors in the type of dance she loves and excels, who happen to be African American. Best place got her to learn more is out of town, out of state requiring a plane ride; well she’s kept up her grades, earned your trust, you feel confident they can take her to the dance tutorial no problem. World being what it is, you take the pains to draft a legal document stating unambiguously for the purpose of said trip they are her legal guardians; only to be stopped, adults handcuffed at the airport, because someone though it strange 2 black men were traveling with a teen white girl. Put aside alternative, same sex families where it might be 2 mommies or 2 daddies, adoptive families, people traveling with extended relatives, biracial families, relatives, even ignoring momentarily they had the legal document explaining what was going on, if the adults had been white and the teen black, Hispanic, middle eastern no one would have said anything, forget handcuffed them…. But we relentlessly blame black people when they can’t get jobs independent countless stories like those above, a lawsuit filed late 2016 alleging MVP, one of the largest job placement organizations nationwide, passed over black applicants in favor of Hispanics because most were undocumented, less likely to complain about working hours, wages or conditions. Agency countering they were just focused on meeting employer demands or anticipated demands; sadly there is too much truth to that statement. We double down scrutiny on black people’s lives, choices, accomplishments measured in money earned, street address, net worth, notable lack of it when attempting to get off welfare, better oneself, totally support oneself is treated the same way as a person getting out of jail/prison, on parole requiring a patient, forgiving, second chance minded employer; while we would applaud and offer a hand up to the white person in the form of an increased chance of getting a job. We talk an awful lot in this country about blacks and work, usually how hard we think they don’t work; not talked about is the harassment, fear, berating, assault they can face once getting a job, holding a job with any authority oversight. Case in point, woman hired to supervise hurricane Isaac rebuilding in Louisiana yelled at and threated by what appears to be a construction worker, perhaps a business owner, who when he saw she was filming the altercation on her phone became physically aggressive charging the petite, African American woman, spitting in her face….Why black hair is worth normalizing, head scarves, turbans, coverings should be treated as no big deal, because even in Donald Trump’s America where it is now run of the mill to repeatedly shout n*gger at black persons in broad daylight with no shame, people think their support for Trump means they can resort to racial slurs against blacks simultaneously complaining about their coffee taking too long during a rush, can claim white discrimination after losing it in a craft store while bystanders dared film the crazy. When popular millennial created, millennial used services like Uber, Lyft and Airbnb succumb to the same continuing cycles of harassing women and denying patronage to minorities, African Americans, attracted to our exotic beauty or lusting after captive audience young, supple students and all specific drivers can do is hope to get, actively try to get in their pants, into their bed. Contrary to popular belief every black person you meet, walking the streets is not a thug, a drug addict, a gangbanger, a welfare recipient, a hood rat, an irresponsible woman popping out kids for benefits, a baby daddy unwilling to support his offspring; every minority isn’t looking to take, be handed something rather than give back…. It seems all we’ve heard during the campaign, the election cycle, even after is about solid, good, American staple manufacturing jobs going to either Mexico or China; rarely noticed by flocks of Trump voters cheering on election night, clapping, crying inauguration day is the invaluable service both legal and illegal immigrants provide to America. They, decade after decade, do the jobs Americans, decade after decade, by the same token, are unwilling or unable to do; they pick the vegetables and fruits lining our supermarkets, gracing our dinner tables due to expertise, willingness to work for wages cash strapped farmers can afford to get their crops picked, packaged and sold as opposed to rotting on the vine. Harsh truths learned post 2008 and state by state immigration crackdowns; Trump proposed immigration management only going to intensify difficulties exponentially, already struggling famers losing crop they can’t sell due to spoilage, out of pocket costs to bus legal workers to fields too afraid to drive themselves, consequences seen in very recent years past. Worse these vegetable/fruit picking migrants are willing to come here, do backbreaking work, get paid a pittance and go home, singularly returning when the picking season is back on; they don’t want to live here, consume resources here, buy bare necessities while here. Regularly use milk, yogurt, cheese thank an immigrant for keeping Wisconsin and other dairy farms nationwide running; immigrants the only ones willing to muck stalls, put milking machines on cows, short and sweet be surrounded by cow dung all day…. But immigrants, legal, illegal who do stay, generate lives here remain responsible for billions of dollars flow through the U.S. economy, immigration policies not immigrants themselves costing Americans money; so called papers please immigration laws also serve to frighten legal workers from their jobs, purchase of goods, can cause a mass exodus seen in rulings like the Missouri Valley decision, parts of Arizona vacated leaving behind largely empty classrooms, abandoned apartment complexes, vacant jobs across all sectors of local economies. Consensus thinking good, more for us hardworking, small town whites, except that’s not how this works; school funding a prime instance of just the opposite, based on students in the classroom when immigration changes force mass move outs schools lose that funding. Suddenly vacant apartments, homes mean renters are equally suddenly out money, may file bankruptcy rendering those properties vacant, vulnerable to squatters and vandals, drug addicts driving down property values and inviting crime; bitter lesson of the great recession persons in Trump country never fully learned unwaveringly supportive of ridding America of its immigrant populations all, ignorant the inherent consequences. State policies barring illegal immigrants from getting a driving license not only prevents them from getting employed, putting back into local and national economies when they buy goods, services, rent apartments, their children attend school, it drives up the cost of car insurance almost $20, figure circa 2009 assuredly gone up in 8 years. Adjacently it drives away foreign investment spelling more jobs for individual states, pocket local communities; reason E- verify, the widely used system meant to determine if the persons applying for jobs are U.S. citizens, possess the proper work visas, permits, legal resident status, green cards naturalization papers. Problem, not only is E-verify every expensive driving down employment, it has curious results on the labor market specifically white working class persons concerned about immigrants snatching their jobs; “E-Verify lowers wages for unauthorized male Mexican immigrants, raises wages for US-born Hispanic men, increases the labor force participation rate of undocumented Mexican female immigrants, raises employment for Mexican-born naturalized citizens, and has essentially no effect on whites’ earnings.” Further research shows they, immigrant workers independent status, complement current employment environment, legal or illegal, not detract, negatively take from it. Forgotten or willfully ignored, dismissed by people wedded to their anti-immigrant narrative like a husband, wife or recurring bad habit, politicians rooted to their convictions and decidedly low on actual information about immigrants; beyond our history as a nation of immigrants famous immigrants that made incalculable contributions to America’s standing as a global leader over the past 2 centuries of its existence, not all immigrants are Mexican, Latino, Hispanic, Latin American, not all immigrants are illegal, not all immigrants are low skilled. Think the co-founder of google Sergey Brin, who is described as a soviet born American, Elon Musk business magnate, engineer, inventor is a South African Canadian America, WhatsApp creator Jan Koum is Ukrainian-American, John Catsimatidis is a Greek-American billionaire owner of the largest grocery chain in Manhattan. People who haven’t just successfully assimilated into our culture, gotten a job, paid their taxes, obeyed the law, been the stereotypical expectation of a ‘model immigrant’ but who have created countless thousands of jobs, made other businesses possible, more productive, profitable and functional…. . Why the sound of your name, notions it conjures in readers, employers/landlords heads should be outweighed by credentials, because no one should be obstructed from employment on their speculated origins, skin color; José in the opening shouldn’t have had to drop a letter to get the job, there was no indication he was an immigrant, illegal. Hispanic populations growing exponentially from legal immigrants having families, born U.S. citizens producing offspring; never mind if there wasn’t a white American to fill the job he applied for, José had to lose his heritage to participate in the American dream, sad reality of Trump’s emerging new America…. American fears for refugee welcoming cities fueled by fake Syrian passports used in terror plots across Europe engendering speculation the same could happen here indicates Europe has a problem not necessarily us. No one stopping to compare notes on vetting processes used there versus here; political skewing, conservative news to say nothing of president Trump’s hastily thrown together Muslim ban, promises to overhaul vetting procedures, ban indefinitely refugees from Syria like little Halla (videos 2&3) giving off the mistaken impression the vetting process for people from these countries, where terrorists might try to slip though is lax, haphazard, totally untrue. Fear, once described by a prominent Christian pastor as false evidence appearing real, ignoring many of the displaced are children, children who’ve already been injured in war, seen friends, relatives die, not old enough to pronounce the word terrorist never mind embody it. Refugees represented by Halla, her sister and this group of older boys and their parents more than the Bowling Green insurgents who slipped through, the nonexistent ‘Bowling Green massacre’ Kelllyanne Conway misspoke about; those persons stopped via sting operation and vetting process adjusted to prevent future entries like theirs. Refugees seeking residence, visas to enter, live in the United States are first screened by the U.N., surprisingly have identification documents for adults 97% of the time, next subjected to relentless, repetitive interviews, then checked against UN complied terror watch lists, nationally compiled watch lists, homeland security making final decisions at times pulling families off their plane; a vetting process that can last up to 2 years. Refuges once settled here who, if you examine closely the links below, didn’t, according to a Salon article, rape a 5 year old in Idaho, didn’t hold her at knifepoint, didn’t urinate on her, fathers of the mythical Syrian rapists didn’t congratulate them when learning of what they’d done. In fact this properly identified right wing urban legend is based on people who literally don’t exist because the few Syrians living in the area did not come here through president Obama’s demonized refugee program, and instead is on par with related right wing stories, causes: transgender bathroom bills, vulnerable little girls in public bathrooms, fitting rooms, recreation center locker rooms surrounded by men pretending to be women to hurt our kids, rape/harass actual women ring a bell?… ban implemented so poorly it held students back from continuing their educations, had one sports star tweeting to his son he couldn’t come home and why, held a mother, legal resident, green card holder at the airport post visiting her other teenage child in Egypt, a doctor holding a job here, working in an American hospital holding a license to practice some form of medicine also detained. Another family caught in Trump’s travel ban confusion Syrians holding green cards, valid visas waiting for 6 relatives to come who had been in the immigration process 13 years, 13 years; Christians Trump prioritizes over Muslims in instituting the ban also turned away. Yet out of hundreds of thousands of immigrants, refugees, people seeking life away from war-torn homelands marked by regime change, ousting of dictators, who have come to American searching for stability a measly 1% have been tied to commit terror acts on U.S. soil; rather innocents continue to be the victims of crime far more than perpetrators of it….Who remembers the Muslim woman a deranged man tried to set on fire, fortunately he only used a lighter, no accelerant and succeeded in damaging her clothing not her skin; sounds an awful lot like the Trump supporter kicking a traditionally dressed Muslim woman in JFK airport shouting “president Trump will get rid of all of you.” Immigrants, an Uber driver, targeted by individuals who they have no idea how long they’ve been here, could have been in the country years, subjected to a profanity laced tirade as he drove his ride service vehicle, just for being Arab. Another white woman knocking over a baby stroller, containing among them a 15 month old toddler, of Muslim women; shooting of the New York Imam in the same category. Never mind that Imam (Islamic religious leader akin to Christian pastors or priests) shot and killed in New York City is dead for no other reason than he was an Imam, was Muslim, practiced Islam. Though he was not a radical, that mosque visited by practicing Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh, the former producing 1 terrorist the latter none; never once people, countries largely associated with terror. Crime against select minorities that spills over from ‘Muslim terrorists’ to other immigrant nationalities, ethnicities, religions having settled here doing nothing but living peaceful lives, holding jobs, raising families; easy targets because of their distinctive headwear, out of place here, traditional clothing… Hatred, violence, harassment, sadly far from reaching some born and bred American persons too; like the lupus patient who wears a scarf to keep the sun from her head, sunlight damaging to lupus suffers, mistaken for Muslim finding her car broken into while on a nature hike complete with nasty not stating in part the following: “Hijab wearing bitch this is our nation now get the f— out.” The Somali-American elected official who ran for office, won her election only to be called ISIS by her cabbie returning from a trip to the Whitehouse where he also threated to rip off her head covering; both instances highlighting profound prevailing ignorance since the scarves in question look like what numerous African Americans wear in every corner of the country easy, simple hair management, likewise seen throughout Africa to keep hair clean, keep sweat out of eyes, off your face, even removed from your head to carry items, what an older white lady might wear on a cold day, wear to church, not strictly associated with Muslims. American born Muslim persons who’ve rightfully earned positions of authority, chosen to be police officers, to protect and serve, attempting to show the positive side of Islam, that Muslims can be and are good people, harassed by a man for their headscarf…. Contrast this to actions taken to include Muslims, Sikhs and others, each allowed to wear their respective head coverings on New York City’s police force, Sikhs in the U.S. military, military colleges considering the hijab in applicants who want to come to their institutions; when a mother was suddenly shown hate in her neighborhood for being ‘obviously Muslim’, despite residing in the city 17 years, her community responded with love, children in one area put up posters, signs welcoming refugees. People across the country and the world donated to a go fund me page dedicated to rebuilding a Texas mosque vandalized by arson, including a Midwestern couple on vacation who hand delivered their donation personally, local entities pulling together to restore what was lost. An American boy reaching out to a little Syrian boy capturing the world and president Obama’s attention when he pleaded with him to let the little boy come live with him. Count the thousands who showed up at every major airport in the country changing let them go, holding signs saying refugees are welcome here, sentiments expressed long before president Trump’s actions; months before the ban, shortly after Trump’s election a Texas man stood outside of a mosque holding a sign not in protest, not it hate, fear or bigotry but expressing solidarity, telling Muslims you belong. Shattering every stereotype he is an older white man, gray beard, requisite cowboy hat, bringing us finally to something else, the Christians Trump says he’s prioritizing, doing this for, the values he claims he’s upholding in addition to our safety; they tellingly don’t like it, find it goes against their faith, the love they are meant to show to their fellow man, their fellow citizen, more than one harkening back to history, the Nazis what happened to Jews in the 1930’s—hmm….
What Actually Happened: Why Recounts Aren’t A Frivolous Waste Of Time, Simply The Left’s Inability To Accept Election Results
Worth underscoring too is Jill Stein was the perfect person to demand recounts be undertaken in strategic areas chiefly because she wasn’t Hillary Clinton, wasn’t part of the Democratic Party machine, was the image of an individual without an agenda save electoral integrity for the American people. As mentioned recounts were only asked for in meaningful areas, not ridiculously say nationwide, pointing to someone who was being genuinely realistic about what they were asking to be done, what they could feasibly get done. Add in documented problems and irregularities surpassing detailed voter suppression, long lines, limited polling places, minorities unexpectedly dropped from voting rolls, voting roll name mix-ups, voting machine issues topped off with a good smattering of human error and Jill Stein had beyond a right to champion, see to a recount, but a mandate to do so… Irregularities continuing to grow exponentially as time goes on, we learn more and more about issues running the gambit from Russian hacking, voter suppression, in new and different ways, to basic counting errors… . Now there’s a dossier becoming the subject of high level presidential briefings alleging Russia stole gathered personally damaging, embarrassing evidence on Trump completed via a British spy originally commissioned by never Trump republicans, then democrats; that the crux of the information centers around sexual indiscretions engaged in by Trump while visiting Russia, not just Russian collusion in the Trump campaign, Russian interference should deem it less easy to dismiss noting the double digit number of American women accusing him of sexual assault, battery, harassment, most seriously rape. Foreign women from at least 2 countries, former Miss Universe pageant members also making twin allegations; one sexual assault accuser here countersuing Trump for defamation after he repeatedly called her a liar among other despicable things. Solidly substantiating Russian collusion claims minus the dossier, a timeline put together via the David Packman Show illustrating Trump’s U-turn language change on the soviet communist regime country, formal requests to the GOP to change language on Russia for which it appears Trump, his campaign received quid pro quo in the form of WikiLeaks releases damaging Hillary Clinton funneled to the rogue hacking organization through a currently discovered intermediary working on behalf of…Russia, the presence of Paul Manafort as campaign chair considering his pro-Russia work in Ukraine. Breaking, information Trump aides and Russian state liaisons were in constant contact while president Obama was expelling diplomats, response to hacking’s confirmation and its extent; national security advisor Michael Flynn texting them as they were being told to exit the country…. there were the shots fired at a California polling place, scene out of a 3rd world country or bad movie, 27 states where the interstate crosschecking system purged minority voters on grounds they registered with intent to vote in multiple states, no proof they actually were and no definitive answer on whether or not 7 million eligible Americans were blocked from voting, but the winners want to balk at Jill Stein’s insistence we carefully count solid votes we do have?… more votes than there are voters in the city of Detroit according to one tally indicating voting machine errors continuously showing up in such pockets of the country. Wisconsin’s vote margin in favor of Trump evaporated by 20% as the result of a discovered counting error, many places’ exit polling data doesn’t match electoral vote outcomes suggesting indeed the election was rigged, the opposite of what candidate, president elect, now full-fledged president Trump relentlessly insinuated, against Hillary Clinton not him. Discrepancies between voting machines and paper ballots, paper ballot utilizing areas overwhelmingly going to Clinton causing scientists to champion recounts; speaking of voting machines, the congressional organization created to certify voting equipment was, you guessed it, hacked, hacker trying to sell pilfered information to foreign countries, still think Jill Stein was out of her mind to ask votes be recounted?…. Stacked complications upon complications with the election process held up alongside his, our president elect’s, response to recount petitions, reaction to those attempting to verify election results—calling them a green party scam, touting they need to accept election results and move forward. Simultaneously alleging he won the popular vote if you deduct all the people who voted illegally, providing no proof that definitively happened, railing against 1.8 million dead people registered to vote, though no evidence they truly voted Election Day; then utterly illogically tweeting about ‘serious voter fraud in Virginia, New Hampshire and California,’ predictably states that went profoundly for Clinton. A judge soundly rejecting his claim polling stations in Nevada stayed open well past voting hours to admit illegitimate ballots; never mind as we learned from 2012’s long line mess if there is a line of persons waiting to vote, they must stay open until everyone has had an opportunity to cast a ballot, that is your right as a registered voter. Trump lawyers filing suit against the Michigan recount calling it a 1% temper tantrum that cannot go unchecked to the local elections board, once more defying logic countering Stein’s request with a lack of evidence signaling election fraud; begging the question if the vote was so legitimate, as to be beyond reproach or a request to confirm numbers, double check people’s math, you won so easily there is no need for a recount then what are you afraid of?…We aren’t supposed to stand up and say, the 3 million more of us who voted for someone else, this isn’t the democracy we want, that a liar, a con and a person possibly in cahoots with foreign powers is the textbook definition of unfit therefore we have a few processes by which to keep him from our highest office, recounts being one?…
Impending threats, silly, serious or no, Electoral College delegates had an obligation, a responsibility to, in light of what they knew then, fulfill the lesser known portion of their mandate— keeping the unqualified from the presidency, from forever hobbling democracy; and, they responded the exact opposite of the way they should have, the way citizens desperately needed them to. Not because of threats, some death threats, rather due to loyalty holding almost sacred votes their state cast, an, anywhere else it would be viewed as admirable, sense of duty to administer their task the way voters declared they wanted it done, maybe defiance thumbing their nose at aforementioned death threats and implied pending retaliation against delegate family members detailed in individual anti or pro-Trump hate mail they received, clearly crossing the line… A big enough gap in democracy, in protecting the integrity of our country form hidden, unusual dangers to be sure, but a much more troubling problem came instead from Electrical College members who didn’t seem to have a rudimentary grasp of why they were there, what their function was. You had electors, surpassing ignoring who their state voted for, going against their state’s documented choice interested in serving the greater good, ‘defecting’ from Hillary Clinton to Bernie Sanders and submitting names, putting forth votes for persons not on any ballot anywhere including Colin Powel and a Native American who thought the story was fake news when her name was called as a vote; John Kasich famously telling Ohio’s electors not to try and vote him to the presidency. Absolutely electors should be free to vote for whomever they choose, dissolving faithless elector laws precisely because of situations exposed by the 2016 election process; caveat, electors should know what they are doing, know ahead of time that selecting oddball, out there names of people who didn’t so much as run in the first place, have expressed no interest in the presidency, forget have made no preparation for stepping into it doesn’t get a candidate closer to 270, give us a firm answer on our next president, promote the peaceful transfer of power… Electoral College convening apparently going far deeper, it wasn’t just what The Young Turks’ interviewed faithless elector said, viewing link 19 below, about why he wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton, what he wanted from her before making his final decision that should be riveting our attention, his split vote lo and behold voting John Kasich for president and Time Kaine for vice president rendering it a virtually meaningless vote; however, the jaw dropping errors, maneuvering orchestrated to strong arm a singular, already probable outcome. Disputes over oaths electors must sign, a judge, deliberating, ruling right there the new oath chosen by the state official was unconstitutional, oaths signed under protest, duress, failure to separate ballots according to constitutional law for president and vice president; 23 out of 31 delegates for Trump guilty of this, out of that 31 only 8 abiding by constitutional 12th amendment law. Findings in the same report listing other laws actually broken top down throughout the process, beyond the unsavory appearance of Pam Bondi as an elector; returning to the duel office holding in states disallowing it, a whopping 34 tallied, not living in the districts they were called to represent a total of 16 tallied penitential for over 100 improperly selected delegates, improperly filed Certificates of Vote, 50 enough to change Electoral College final results…. but recounts are frivolous and the Electoral College shouldn’t have so much as been asked to vote their conscience, in the best interest of America, not panicked, deluded, alternate reality believing voters shystered by a shyster…. If we want to talk about something wholly undemocratic look no further than North Carolina and what currently seated powers tried to do when the opposing party won; things deteriorating to such a degree democracy watchers, the EIP (electoral integrity project) internationally have named the state no longer a democracy. Receiving a failing score on par with developing, pseudo democracies in Cuba, lesser notoriety African continent nations, Indonesia; speculations justifying that score included their voter ID law struck down by the Supreme Court as deliberately discriminatory to minorities, their bathroom bill rightly depicted as something a democratic government shouldn’t do and the shameless power grab attempted when sitting powers lost… Forcing state senate confirmations for all cabinet appointees, merging election and ethics panels, adapting a rules change stipulating the governor’s party cannot hold the majority it does under existing law. A proposed 80% slash in the number of employees reporting to the governor doubtlessly impacting staff available to assist him in expediently, efficiently executing his duties, overseeing things in his state, even snatching away his power to appoint University of North Carolina board of trustee members. Things no one batted an eye at the governor doing before the election just passed, in sweet, sweet irony they do this; where 4 years prior, truly exposing republican intentions then and now, under McCrory lawmakers increased10-fold the number of state government, adjacent entity positions subject to his jurisdiction….Battles nothing out of the ordinary for forward thinking tar heel state residents pushing back against GOP spearheaded legal maneuvering to curtail voter initiated hikes to their minimum wage, denial of Medicaid to half a million persons, gutting social programs, protesting hate in the form of HB2 the state’s bathroom bill… Remembering North Carolinians voted out McCrory in favor of Cooper because national entities symbolizing business, tourism and economic growth voted with their feet, their capital exc. saying if you insist on anti-LGBT practices I won’t conduct concerts in your state, I won’t continue my business plans in your state, pro/college basketball franchises will find a more accepting place to play playoff games, tournaments. Revisiting too that HB2 commonly known as North Carolina’s bathroom bill forcing people to use the restroom, locker room, department store fitting room corresponding with the gender on their birth certificate, not their gender identity, wasn’t about rehearsed rhetoric on keeping children safe in public toilets, rec center showers/locker rooms, aforementioned store fitting rooms, shock to young children seeing opposite gender anatomy, upholding student safety in k-12 or college universities. Bill having exactly the reverse effect making things more dangerous for LGBT citizens, especially kids; it was expressly about preventing select municipalities, cities, counties from enacting LGBT protections… Going back to states no longer deemed democracies, receiving low scores on their scale determining strength of that democracy 11 other states fared worse; Wisconsin where privatization and school funding schemes have gutted one bright spot in education. Michigan where the Flint water crisis was caused by a business man republican and whose response to their own failing schools is an attorney who doesn’t believe literacy is a right. Ohio where governor Kasich many hoped would be the next president, radiating calm sanity during chaotic primary debates quietly, another word for sneakily, deliberately trying to fly under constituency forget national radar, banned voters from raising Cleveland’s minimum wage. Arizona once home to papers please immigration legislation, brain freeze governor Jan Brewer who used non-existent Mexican drug cartel beheadings on U.S. soil to justify said legislation, controversial sheriff Joe Arpiao who cost the state millions refusing to comply with federal orders on civil, human rights violations in his prisons, illegal, illegal immigration arrests, legal fights against those orders; the copper state’s score the absolute lowest. Kentucky joining a flurry of states passing abortion bills banning pregnancy termination after 20 weeks adding to legislation mandating the burial of fetal tissue either in cases of abortion or miscarriage. Seemingly oblivious to the devastating toll visited upon North Carolina for its anti-LGBT choice an equally growing group of states are pushing to replicate their disaster Virginia, Alabama and Texas among them… North Carolina also glaringly shows who exactly needs to ‘get over it,’ who needs to accept election outcomes; reiterating for all the disappointed liberals, progressives and democrats are, all the vows to fight president elect Trump on his more audacious policies is about protecting America rather than partisan backbiting, personal revenge. Proposed polices that could devastate trade i.e. a trade war with China, avoiding a Muslim registry, a Muslim ban because it is A- discriminatory to innocent, non-radical Muslims and B- could spark another 9-11 like attack, pushing back against social media usage that could tweet us into a nuclear war. Confirmation battles, they are slowing down confirmation hearings to properly vet appointees the way they weren’t by Trump, standard procedural, disclosure paperwork yet to be submitted needing to be reviewed ideally before hearings take place, forced to question them thoroughly due to many nominees showing up to hearings vastly unprepared and unqualified for positions they’ve been asked to fill mandating in-depth scrutiny about fringe plans, ideas, past statements, financial holdings, issue stances… We don’t have a democracy we can trust less because of outside interference whether it’s Russia, 4chan, Anonymous, WikiLeaks and more because we keep shutting out bigger and bigger swaths of the citizenry, the ordinary people, average public, making it harder for them to vote, purposefully marginalizing voters who don’t agree with, usually conservative, ideologies and ideals, making voters feel their voices are insignificant, forcing them to choose between the lesser of immoral, tainted, who cares candidates; sentiments Trump played into and amplified to win. We don’t possess continued faith in our democracy because people stopped paying attention to core issues that matter nationwide not limited to your backyard, town, state, stopped taking voting as seriously as they should, for some bothering to vote at all… Parts of the electorate eligible to cast a ballot, registered to vote who don’t know, are so uninformed, ill-informed, misinformed they literally are in the dark that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Obamacare are the same thing who, when presented with facets of the ACA meant to benefit consumers, health insurance purchasers throughout the public, insure their families, their children they like them, support them, think them good polices to have; call it Obamacare and they instantly hate it. One man bragging on social media he got his healthcare from the ACA not Obamacare shocked he’s in public bashing his own insurance…. . Bigger than people who don’t possess the faintest idea about sources of their ‘news’, don’t vet it for satire, hyperbole or comedy, know if it’s conservative, liberal, progressive, independent, mainstream, geared toward young millennials, senior citizens, middle-aged persons, working class individuals, professionals exc., are those who don’t take time, think, putting it through their own internal logic filter asking does this make sense, is this real, is it plausible? No one seeing the ‘news story’ on Facebook about Pope Francis endorsing Donald Trump, allowing it to impact their voting decision the least little bit bothered to ask themselves why the pope would endorse a candidate for elections half a world away from him, utterly outside his political system; further seeing Pope Francis’ dedication to the poor, rectifying global income inequality, prescribing compassion and help for the most destitute and economically effected, even if he were inclined to endorse a candidate, make international public comment on America’s election, why would he choose Donald Trump, praise Donald Trump?… Pizza-gate, again total lack of stopping to think how would that even work running a child sex ring out of a pizza parlor, not in some foreign country, South Asia catering to American, western world tourist with sick proclivities, but in America? And even if every twisted, crazy thing ever said about Hillary Clinton was true, none of the 90’s BS files, purported scandals encompassed harming children, marketing pedophilia for cash, ‘her greedy motivation;’ continuing, why would her former campaign chair, already having lost the election, and the owner of the pizza place go along with it? Doesn’t the real story make much more sense, carrying much more probability that it was a possible campaign stop abandoned, e-mail correspondence supporting that conclusion? Or assuming there was allusion to a child sex trafficking ring, illegal activity, the thing to do would be call the police either in your home state, in D.C. where Comet Ping Pong operates, attempt to contact the FBI presenting them your evidence; not travel hundreds of miles with your AR15 rifle shooting in an open business potentially hurting bystanders for something that wasn’t remotely real, epic logic failure strike 3… Similarly not only allegations millions of illegal immigrants voted, but voted because president Obama said they could; woman who brought that up to a CNN reporter couldn’t pass a basic litmus test of correctly identifying the network she heard it on, claiming the interviewer’s network had provided coverage on the story when they plainly had not. That story came from Info Wars news channel run and hosted by Alex Jones; identical Alex Jones who believes Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama smell like sulfur therefore are demons, conveniently without ever having been close enough to smell either person confirming the suspicion, relying on second and third hand accounts from individuals who think B.O. is an indication of spiritual standing, health. Forgetting there are logical people on the planet who don’t believe in the very existence of demons, if they did smell by virtue of medical problem, poor hygiene wouldn’t it have become mainstream media information, enfolded into exclusive interviews by news outlet X, not relegated to something solely hear on the internet? Illegals voting rumors simultaneously undergirded by an unethically edited interview chopped up by, surprise, surprise Fox Business, to make it seem like that’s what president Obama said, implied: undocumented persons could cast ballots without anyone watching the whole interview in its entirety…. It’s time to change some laws in this country, few liked that independents were shut out of voting for Bernie Sanders in states with closed primaries, accused DNC officials of rigging things they actually didn’t, chaffed at voter roll mix-up’s in closed primary states putting people in the wrong party; even less liked, Donald Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns, his vague plans to detangle himself from his businesses if he achieved the presidency, that he got media circus weird on something as uncomplicated as releasing his medical records, a standard summary of major medical information about you. Populous failing to grasp you correct that using legal statutes, demanding the creation of new ones…; law changes explored above implemented so we can have a democracy we trust, everyone’s voice is heard, each person’s vote matters and it’s significance can be seen, people again fell empowered to affect their government in ways that benefit them, their families.
Election Aftermath: Those Blaming the Main Stream Media Stop It That Means You Too Cenk Uygur And TYT, David Packman Et cetera Et Al
Multitudes desperately needing to remember those multiple choice tests we took in school where sometimes the answer was all of the above; similarly here the answer to Hillary Clinton’s loss isn’t one thing, big or small, there is no glaring, smoking gun telling us why she won’t be our first madam president, won’t be sworn in on January 20th, it’s everything with a side of issues almost no one is talking about including supposedly independent media. Problem, her failed campaign is 10% Hillary’s personal, political, public speaking shortfalls and 90% the other things listed in different proportions, but she gets 1,000% of the blame alone, any other explanations are categorized as not serious, utter non-sense, deflection— are we tired of, done with being wrong yet?…Conveniently brushed aside, ignored structural problems in our democracy that fueled Donald Trump’s win and sabotaged all democrat, third party chances early on, surpassing the primary debacles in states with closed versions forcing voters to vote under the party they are registered to, on record affiliated with, meaning independents in select areas couldn’t vote Bernie Sanders, vote count devastation wrought by caucus systems seen to drive down voter turnout on top of the closed primary problem were cities, counties, states, not the least bit surprising in electorally important swaths of the country, where people found themselves wrongly deleted from voting rolls for not having voted in a long time. Instead of having voting eligible citizens show up on primary day, vote in each desired category president/vice president, governor, senate/house seats up that year, any local ballot issues present; caveat, you can only vote for one person in each section, only removing documented moved or deceased persons from voter rolls. Gerrymandering instrumental in why democrats couldn’t win back the house in 2016, racial gerrymandering across North Carolina leading to court mandated 2017 local special elections after said gerrymandering was officially deemed unconstitutional; district judges, a little over 2 weeks post the election, ruling gerrymandering not geography is behind republicans’ iron grip on Wisconsin, who hadn’t gone republican in a presidential race since the ‘80’s. Florida, Virginia and North Carolina are in the crosshairs of their courts for adjacent reasons; Michigan a twin case to Wisconsin. Ohio left voters with no real choices; republicans running the table in a staggering number of uncontested races, races won by ridiculous double digit margins. Voter I.D. laws argued in various courts almost up to election day itself leaving the public in limbo ‘knowing’ they wouldn’t be able to vote, so didn’t bother registering; people who earnestly tried to vote but were shockingly unsuccessful in a nation known as the heart of democracy… But what won and lost this election was how Hillary Clinton foolishly chose to design her campaign not voter suppression, gerrymandering, voter abstinence, voting irregularities, voting machine issues. Downplayed in one way and exalted in the run up to Electoral College voting were frequencies with which the same states keep popping up when examining voter suppression, long lines, excessive paperwork, voter roll discrepancies, voting machine malfunctions. Southern states known for race issues, swing states, battle ground states, must win states if you want to achieve the office of president, and this is the ‘independent media’, supposedly unable to be bought, utterly unbiased, actually doing investigative reporting, calling out their other hated favorite word establishment status quo problems, hypocrisies progressives, liberals, democrats, non-conservatives, non-right wingers worship that the feet of… Nipping at the heels of long standing structural problems unaddressed is the idea democrats would have done better running any other candidate but Hillary Clinton, seen as cold aloof, not genuine or warm, when not hit with outright claims of untrustworthiness, liar, in bed with special interests, what have you, Bill Maher’s on the surface good, sound advice not to run someone who can’t do a rally; obvious go to choice then, Bernie Sanders. However excluding Bernie momentarily, who my work alone covered extensively to report it seems as if he woke up roughly a week before primary application paperwork was due and decided he wanted to run for president, whose stated goals would do more for the country at the grassroots, lower government level, continuing as senator… What better candidate was sincerely available, bumbling answers Lincoln Chafee who couldn’t explain his Glass Stiegel vote, let’s not mince words wacko kook Jim Web who when asked about political enemies recited a creepy story about killing a person in Vietnam? How about democratic low energy counterpart to Jeb Bush Martin O’Malley touting his gubernatorial stewardship of Maryland encompassing troubled Baltimore when it was A-in flames due to unrest over the senseless arrest and resulting death of African American, innocent man, minding his own business, Freddie Gray; B analysis tracing many of the systemic, institutional problems leading to that unrest to policies enacted by O’Malley or policies directly mirroring New York’s stop and frisk he failed to disband?… What on earth makes Clinton critics think they would have listened to a different strategy, anything but exactly what they wanted to hear is another great mystery joining a growing pile; when they needed to be told the hard truth that though their wages have stagnated they still have jobs, if they can’t handle the cyclical nature of that industry consider job retaining. Similar truths applicable to coal, manufacturing, people who need to be told the reason you’re struggling to achieve the American dream is you are in a dead industry; when only after Trump was elected and continued to talk about abolishing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) did individuals in say, Kentucky get scared he might actually do it. A man in coal country who voted for Trump on his promise to bring jobs telling a CNN reporter black lung benefits may be going bye, bye, with the dissolving of demonized Obamacare; contrasting starkly Hillary Clinton who went to coal, manufacturing country and said yes we will gradually put coal out of business to offer you retraining in more sustainable, stable industries, versus Trump who vowed to bring back jobs being swallowed by automation in the 1960’s… Yet Hillary Clinton lost the election because she was too arrogant, elitist and hero WikiLeaks exposed her colluded corruption. Racism, sexism xenophobia, homophobia had nothing to do with her loss despite characterization of her presidency as a third term for Obama, the controversial black, ‘Muslim,’ ‘Manchurian candidate’ president ‘who tricked the system to get in the Whitehouse;’ who wants to give more rights, citizenship opportunities to whom, blacks, Muslims, Mexicans, ‘shiksa feminista’ women. Racism was at best a secondary factor when even now we have citizens in this country comparing first Lady Michele Obama, who is the epitome of stylish, poised and put together, challenging the class and dignity of Jackie O and Nancy Reagan, not that they’ll ever admit it, to an ape in heels, a Trump backer posting on social media she should go live in Africa with apes. Racism, sexism, hate, applied to current election opinions, numbers and Hillary Clinton were outdone by economic issues, people with no jobs, people seeing their jobs to go Mexico, China hearing her ringing endorsement for TPP, independent there are metrics to back up the former over the latter. Donald Trump himself saying she didn’t look presidential; code for she’s a woman and doesn’t look particularly good as one, reshaping his previous comments on Carly Fiorina’s face to fit candidate Clinton. Purported economic issues allegedly outpacing one Trump supporter who touted biblical mandates women not have authority over men as the reason Hillary Clinton can’t be president, a Trump voter who said homosexuals should hang, Trump’s campaign chair heard/seen on camera claiming racism didn’t exist before Obama’s presidency prompting her resignation, Trump supporters upset Clinton aide Huma Abedin has a Muslim sounding name, channeling Michelle Bachmann saying blacks were better off during slavery. Unabashed truth, Hillary Clinton lost because people were so willing to believe every nasty thing ever said about her for 25 odd years in an era where facts no longer matter, Hillary Clinton lost because people wanted nostalgic fairytales of yesteryear instead of dealing with reality, Hillary Clinton lost because of systematic system flaws; people weeping on election night, protesting by the thousands in every city nationwide several nights after tells us who a majority truly supported, warts and all, what the people truthfully wanted and didn’t get….Getting down to the more thoroughly discussed, but not fully understood topics attempting to answer Hillary Clinton’s loss or more abjectly Donald Trump’s win, corruption played an overwhelming roll in who won this election and is a driving force behind who didn’t…There is credible evidence the Kremlin wanted Trump to win, having nothing to do with him per say, rather out of abundant hatred for Hillary Clinton, fear of greater sanctions that they then sat about using social media and other means to make that happen, culminating in Vladimir Putin’s already mentioned hands on involvement to the point of personally deciding what to do with hacked information collected. Lock step with Russian plans to nationalize the internet essentially banning Microsoft’s globally used products to be replaced with good old Russian ones, amounting to more than an act of nationalism but because he thinks Microsoft collaborates with US intelligence; paranoid, listening to Edward Snowden too much? It’s Donald Trump’s continued denouncing of intelligence agency findings implicating the former Soviet Union country not China, not some 400 pound person on their bed someplace, a repeated line given when confronted about the situation; when you have a top Russian general ‘who has Putin’s ear’ saying he gave him the strategy 3 years ago designed to cause “a perfectly thriving state to sink into a web of chaos,” but oh no there’s no Russian ties to the hacking going on…. Megyn Kelly’s bombshell book revelations Trump tried to pressure her to go easy on him, threatened her, made her fear for her safety, amplified by both staff and followers, plausible claims he offered gifts to her and her network (Fox News) in exchange for positive, more flattering coverage divulging some took the bait. Startling implications by themselves preceding what Ivanka Trump’s husband Jared Kushner let slip in an interview about buying one sided, no commentary, no challenge coverage from a major media outlet holding ownership, dictating major coverage over multitudes of small stations in key swing states i.e. Ohio; reach so expansive they get more viewership than say cable’s CNN. Mindboggling on 3 vantage points A- Trump did this simultaneously shouting crooked Hillary when she merely attempted to win fair and square with standard political ad buy, B- that a giant TV consortium agreed to do what he wanted, no thought to what he was flooding small, local areas with or ethics in journalism, news coverage, finally C- that we wouldn’t know about it if Mr. Kushner hadn’t been foolish enough to open his big mouth…. Neither is James Comey a handy scapegoat excuse democrats default to, to explain how they lost an election so bad, rather a media one liner short hand pertaining to the cataloged series of irregularities he engaged in from the beginning. Announcing his findings in a press conference where he subsequently scolded Clinton like an errant child, his promise to keep congress informed should there be any new developments, not what the FBI should be doing; catering to what congress believes should and shouldn’t be investigated often leading down ribbit holes culminating in his ‘reopening’ of the Clinton e-mail investigation to 3 days prior to voters hitting the poles then say, oh nothing here. Warrant for those e-mails, to look at the Abedin/Weiner computer for such material incredibly flimsy containing little evidence, indications the FBI already knew most of what was there, related to Clinton were duplicates of things previously examined; further he defied his boss in going ahead with the announcement to reopen and very succinctly violated the Hatch act in the process. The Hatch Act explicitly stating the FBI, being government personnel, government personnel of the executive branch may not engage in actions to disparage or support entities along partisan lines; going hand in hand with justice department protocols only disclosing information pertinent to investigations, never derogatory personal, professional details uncovered linked to person X, in reverence to the access they are allowed into people’s lives, and not doing so at minimum 60 days out from an election to avoid undue influence…. It’s the hypocrisy of Trump’s cabinet and advisor choices held up against repeated campaign slogans; leaving off his calling Hillary Clinton the swamp, bought and paid for by lobbyists, special interests, Wall Street—based on speeches she did to earn a living, be productive in a political off season—the reaming he gave Hillary Clinton calling her cooked, corrupt, vowing to locker her up. Immediately reneging on promises to drain said swamp and hiring what number are we up to now of Goldman Sacks high rollers, Wall Street, big money, huge corporation executives and operatives. It’s vice president Mike Pence who wants to keep his congressional correspondence as a lack luster senator in Indiana’s legislator sealed, such a seal, if implemented lasting until his death; why is this not front page, breaking news on Fox, a large than life headline on Breitbart, why is no one asking him what he’s hiding, asking for an investigation, calling for him to step down especially looking at the new one Hillary Clinton was ripped over the DNC, campaign chairman, WikiLeaks e-mails alone? Electronic transmissions allegedly missing from the freedom of information request submitted in Pence’s case, so called white papers outlining plans to combat the ACA, president Obama’s executive action on immigration, even LGBTQ rights raising familiar questions about transparency and who decides what indeed is public record; déjà vu anyone considering you were ecstatic, right along with your running mate, the FBI announced its reopening of the Clinton investigation. To say nothing of you are against people getting healthcare, young immigrants who were brought here as children given the right to work, gain education or engage in military service, against LGBT rights that stem violence and hate crimes; obvious next question, why?… Michael Flynn Trump national security advisor choice, an appointment not subjected to senate confirmation, who famously said at his RNC convention appearance if he’d done a 10th of what she had he would be in jail. Calling for her to drop out of the race due to seriously endangering our national security with her private server; only to find out he ‘unknowingly’ shared classified information with a foreign government (Afghanistan) receiving no discipline because he was unaware and did no damage to national security. Ironically paralleling FBI final determinations on Hillary Clinton, Flynn who also has a history of recurring such behavior turning around to do the same thing with Pakistan; paralleling Hillary Clinton almost exactly having had a private internet connection installed in his pentagon office, though that was expressly forbidden, where Clinton’s ‘home brew’ server was uncharted territory. Continuing we have no idea what the purpose was for that internet connection, what he could be hiding besides the damming evidence already given; where we were given an explanation for Clinton’s server and, delved into facts allowed us to make inferences pointing to her protecting classified documents more than the state department could, creating her own 21st century work environment when one wasn’t provided for her. Apparently it’s only criminal when you, my political opponent, do it; because, David Petraeus guilty of equal mishandling of classified intel, feeding it to a mistress was on a legitimate short list for secretary of state. Flynn who was additionally caught on Breitbart circa August 2016 talking about boarder signs in Texas directing ISIS fighters how to illegally get into the country he had personally seen photos of; relevance, scary as it is, this is who’s in charge of Donald Trump’s national security team, is substituting, heading up his daily intelligence briefings. Happening in tandem with his questioning, downplaying Russian hacking only to nominate Rex Tillerson, not the least bit shy about his glowing friendship with Vladimir Putin; however, Americans are to behave gullibly enough to believe there is no collusion between Russia and Trump, they had nothing to do with his win, whether he knows it or not, Russia likewise missing from foreign intelligent, national intelligence briefings and goals is mere coincidence…. Finally rounding out this section it’s the basic expectation, function of the media up against the sheer number of times he, candidate, republican nominee, currently president elect Trump threw out media outlets from press conferences, rallies and events, how people holding adequate, proper credentials, asking reasonable, public would want to know questions, were ever supposed to do their jobs in that environment…. Having secured the presidency still his antagonizing the media continues booting the reporter who investigated the Carrier deal he so proudly proclaims from a Trump jobs event while all indications point to Trump’s newest media ventures his 24 hour network getting Whitehouse press credentials. It’s the reshaping he now wants to do of the press, press’ relationship with government, curtailing free speech, curtailing journalistic freedom, hinting at less access, less information flow, less briefings, anyone who covers him in a way he doesn’t like won’t get the chance to again, if you want to cover him you must engage in propaganda style writing, threats to open up liable laws to sue press entities, individual journalists for basic investigative reporting, giving of facts if they are critical of Trump; liable, defamation and slander not things we could get the media on in the days of bizarre stories about Michael Jackson proven wholly untrue and career defeating but possible under president Trump, reason to do anything except celebrate… . Fake news until very recently seen as comparatively harmless limited to supermarket tabloids, accompanying websites good for a needed laugh, largely impacting celebrities and who they were seen in Hollywood hot spots with, bad, drunken, drugged out behavior exposed, rants, bar fights, whose having whose baby regularly disproved via DNA testing, housing Nostradamus predictions that never came true, debunked theories on UFO’s, aliens, rare diseases that might be real but the finer details wrong. Yet fake news of the 21st century isn’t just taking on a new, polished format drawing people to it, using new venues to captivate people, social media: twitter, Facebook, Reddit; people unaware, until right now the ‘news’ in their Facebook, twitter, Instagram, Snapchat feed needed to be vetted, needed to be checked for accuracy let alone authenticity versus something someone fabricated out of their head. So when Catholics, religious persons inclined to listen, however marginally, to the pope saw a ‘news story’ claiming Donald Trump was endorsed by pope Francis it got their attention combined with his make America great again slogan, touted business acumen. Remember that’s how they ‘caught’ a Clinton aide and the Beachbit he used to wipe her sever, forget that conversation thread was about permanently changing an e-mail address it was still heralded as a smoking gun to data cleaned servers (???), which of course had some nefarious purpose aside from privacy of personal or business information had it been anyone but a Clinton, Bleachbit’s open source status utterly ignored. When national government officials have to be scolded not to tweet ‘news’ articles on serious issues (climate change) from known dubious sources, cough Breitbart, when state officials shout they aren’t a news source then insist on adding their voice to the collective noise sans taking or exercising any responsibility for their posts deemed news by design or whose prominent name is on it, adopting an attitude best summed up “I report, you decide if it’s true or not,” how is anyone else supposed to know?….Thus Hillary Clinton lost and America’s future becomes anybody’s guess, when it was supposed to go the other way not because Clinton was perfect, ran a perfect campaign, but because Trump represented a different kind of national emergency, a democratic emergency and we collectively responded the opposite of what we should have in our own interests… Concluding, worth clarifying once and for all, it is not the corporate media, big conglomerates though they look like corporations all the same, make money like any other large business, business category in this country, if you are talking about ABC, NBC, CBS stations carrying a half hour national news per day, breaking news, special reports on major national, world events, deaths of influential figures then it is just the media…
Is this what you envisioned Mr. President elect Trump post your victory, your win, an America where school children can’t so much as hold a mock election without someone repeating something offensive you’ve said shutting it down? Is this the nation you thought you’d be leading, presiding over, guiding where students in middle school chant build that wall while Latino, Hispanic, Mexican American students, likely born here, not illegals cry, where students in a high school lock hands going down a hallway shouting white power and holding a Trump campaign sign? Is it gratifying to you to see scrawled signage reading F- all porch monkeys# whites only# white America, above a blurred or sanded down sign reading F n*ggers, in a high school, a doll lynched on a poll in an elevator on a college campus, supposed to be places of higher learning, diversified thinking, opening minds of all ages to new possibilities, things different from themselves; where instead a white student’s black-face Snapchat post got them expelled? Added to swastikas painted on churches, signs over drinking fountains in one school reading whites only and colored, your name among the graffiti, one student’s promise to a black classmate he would shoot her (12) and all the black people he could find? Is this what you meant when you said make America great again usually found somewhere in these hate filled messages to the ‘other’ elements in America who are something other than white, have retained pieces of their native heritage no matter how long they have lived in the U.S. whether they were born here keeping the rich traditions of parents, grandparents, great grandparents come before? Were all advocacy and minority assistance, outreach, resource groups correct when they speculated make America great again was code for make America white again…Perhaps most disturbing is schools knew how to deal with these instances even amid shock of having to, in America of all places, cities knew how to deal with it firing mayors for racist comments, firing teachers for theirs, expelling students behind racially motivated harassment, internet posts, violence to Trump supporters or protesters, other educators doing the best they can to teach life lessons in the moment, New Balance rejected the white supremacist and people won’t be coming to the coffee shop of a ranting Trump supporter who called African American’s monkeys, referred to the Whitehouse as public housing and called for Hillary Clinton to be sodomized. Contrastingly you tell Americans not to be afraid; we ask you how we can not be when this is our reality as brown persons, black persons, bi-racial persons, Muslim persons, Latino, Hispanic, Mexican persons, LGBTQ community members? At the same time all you can say is, during an already scheduled interview, stop it, noncommittally, nonchalantly, unsure it will help, make a difference….. It’s not enough Mr. President, not nearly enough when Keith Lemont Scott was shot in the back for possibly rolling a joint in his car, when authorities concede the officer responsible for the death of Philando Castile had no reasonable cause to shoot him as both he and his girlfriend tried to alert the officer to his legal permitted gun, in his pocket in an open carry state, gun retrieved from that pocket off his dead body post the officer standing there shouting panicked ‘I told him not to reach for it’ (forget what he was reaching for was the I.D. license and/or registration that officer just asked to see); you said yourself officer Shelby, who shot Terrance Crutcher appeared to choke shooting him over a stalled vehicle in the road, a man in need of a tow truck. It’s not enough Mr. President, far from enough to say you will protect LGBTQ persons, shield them against an Islamic foreign ideology, where you think surges in homophobia originate, when you can’t name one clear, substantial policy you have aimed at their community, they can’t find a single one on any of your websites either to date. When your supporters think your campaign and now your achieving the presidency means open season on them; in light of the man sentenced earlier this year for pouring boiling water and his girlfriend’s gay son and his boyfriend innocently sleeping in the same bed after a hard day’s work, oblivious to debilitating, horrifically painful second and 3rd degree burns he left on them necessitating weeks and months in the hospital respectively… Thus being a person with a disability I take particular umbrage to your mocking of a reporter housing an obvious birth defect to his hand, but rather than hold him up as an inspirational example for people with disabilities and what they can accomplish despite challenges, you made a caricature of him because he called you out on an issue. That not holding a candle to what you ordered your staff, security, to do, what they did to a 12 year old boy, also with cerebral palsy, fearful of what will happen to him and other children living in spite of disabilities upon your election; ejected from your Florida rally, your supporters chanting USA, shoving, kicking his wheelchair. We are your America too Mr. President with all of our abilities, quirks, special needs, accommodation requirements and things both tangible and intangible we give freely to society at large, not simply take from it. To that end I and others like me don’t need our social security, supplemental security income payments yanked out from underneath us beside senior citizens because you’re fellow party cohorts want to privatize the program in order to ‘save’ it from insolvency, snatched from us, though we qualify through rigorous parameters because you, your forming cabinet members think we can work. Completely sidestepping the reason many members of the disabled community, the developmentally delayed community, those with mental health struggles can’t work, don’t work, have such an agonizing time finding work independent desire to be productive is because the employment world refuses to make a place for us, recognize our abilities over our disabilities, employment being more about who you know that what…You have a Muslim little girl writing to you begging you to be good, she isn’t the only one vocally or silently pleading for you to do the right thing by all of the citizens comprising the country you fought and won the right to lead. Please Mr. President elect, be better than the basest campaign promises to jail your opponent, ban an entire religion from entering our borders, throw out all immigrants even those defacto US citizens born to illegals; please be better than all the hatred inspired, carried out in your name… To Trump voters on one hand I get it the solid, good paying jobs your parents had, you once had are no more, you don’t have that to pass on to your children, your grandchildren; they are all leaving for greener pastures elsewhere with better opportunities while used to be booming towns become ghost towns, barely survive, everyone’s on welfare, food stamps or social security, jobs pay minimum wage, maybe as high as $8.00 an hour. Then came the financial crisis, recession, people in bigger metropolitan cities 2 years later talking about recovery; at a time when you’re thinking recovery what recovery, and not just from the latest economic downturn we’ve been struggling like this for years and no one in Washington, in government speaks to our issues… Perplexing is the pride exhibited in a job, an industry actively making your children and grandchildren‘s asthma worse, taking serious chance you’re grandchildren’s grandchildren won’t have a planet to live on, at least not as we know it: clean water, air, animals a plenty; pride in a job, an industry, a tradition known to give it’s workers black lung, maxing out insurance, making it more difficult to get with a preexisting condition, simultaneously hating Obamacare. Perplexing is where the emphasis, seen in the 1950’s let’s say, on education has gone, knowledge once seen as a vehicle to bigger and better things than the steel mill, coal mine, if that’s what children chose, key word being choices, a larger swath of them, a larger swath of the world open to them fulfilling the 11th commandment to give better to your children than you yourself had… Baffling until it borders on irritation, particularly for my generation and anyone younger is how it is ok for older adults, by as little as 5 years, all the way up to little old ladies and mellow grandpas the former of whom were born into an era where they weren’t allowed to vote casting ballots on election day, to chastise millennials for their characterized unwillingness to move, relocate for employment, chase a dream cross country like fictional greats you read about in school a-la The Grapes of Wrath. While they’ve expected presidents going all the way back to JFK in the 60’s to save their coal mining, manufacturing jobs from progress, automation, not ‘tree huggers’ environmental regulation, alternative clean energies, dido manufacturing steel to cars, to goods you buy at Wal-Mart. Because… I don’t know it’s an American tradition, the American way somehow forgetting what’s happening in West Virginia coal country, throughout the rust belt today is what happened to California boom towns after the gold rush was gone, economies change, times change… Additionally proving public commenter 2’s point you’re not standing up demanding job training in comparable fields where you can use your skills at physical labor, clean energy refits to homes, putting solar panels on roofs to name 2 possible jobs, construction, plumbing, heavy equipment operation, HVAC; you’re howling bring back our old jobs. Mirroring what I said about Brexit, glaring, urgent need for local revitalization, both there and here, government nationally has failed in any plans to revitalize urban blight, Detroit to rural areas, i.e. West Virginia coal country, Appalachia, yet you’re not vocalizing your anger at local city, state, county commerce boards for having seen this coming for 50 years, reiterating public commenter 1’s words, and a total lack of even attempted diversification, business enticement to bring something besides coal mines, a manufacturing plant or 2 to your town meaning jobs, growth for your area, federal government entities for the same thing; you’re screaming bring back our old jobs… . Again where is the initiative to revitalize your own neighborhoods, communities, where are the non-for profits using donations to do what one Michigan woman did in honor of her son, collecting donations, putting neighborhood young men to work refurbishing bought dilapidated houses to create a library, park, homework house and café, local efforts with handyman skills and a bucket of paint putting a fresh look on Glouster Ohio, will to try opening a business or marketing an idea, entering a contest for anything you appear to have a talent in like the woman who entered a greeting card contest turning funny pictures of her dog into a business— redundant, these people haven’t tried once… Mostly I feel sorry for America post November 8th, I feel sorry for anyone who didn’t vote Donald Trump on their ballot, who chose any other name present, I feel sorry for what’s coming next to immigrants, gays, Jewish persons, Muslims and other minorities under this conservative, republican oligarch headed for autocrat. I feel sorry for the labor workers who weren’t enticed by something reading like a Johnathan Swift essay but everyone didn’t get the joke, I feel sorry for working class workers coming into dying fields, simple manufacturing who will have to contend with choices made by someone other than themselves. I feel sorry for the American Brexit-esque situation of regret, buyer’s remorse non-Trump voters know is coming when those who voted for him finally see through him, see he won’t keep his promises, there was never a way to keep them in the first place, that he literally pledged to do 21 long, lengthy, detailed things in one day, his first day in office when he and the majority of his staff will still be mastering building layouts and office spaces…
The Problem With “Female Bodies and Alcohol”: Stop Framing Campus Sexual Assault As A Drinking Issue—Agree To Disagree A Critique
We will do anything but teach alcohol education, consent education, legal definitions of rape… Also addressing changing public attitudes on key social issues like criminal responsibility while under the influence of substances, ‘I was high’ uttered by defendants or victims in court meant to explain why the gas station clerk was heinously shot during the commission of a robbery you admit to participating in, doesn’t cut it anymore. ‘I was high’ is no longer an excuse to why you can’t account for your whereabouts on the night in question for a crime to which you have pled not guilty, no longer explains away the vicious beating of your girlfriend. Bad trips, laymen’s terms for bad illegal drug reactions, have ceased to be an acceptable reason eliciting leniency from judges, jurors for extreme vandalism or otherwise seen as random attacks of persons on the streets, stopped being a blanket understood concept of ‘how can you expect me to be responsible for what I did,’ years ago. ‘I was drunk,’ long abandoned as a believable defense when causing death or injury to people with your car, motorcycle or boat, any kind of motor vehicle. And following historical lines in the modern era is fast becoming less of an excuse why it is ok to be judgmentally impaired enough to think raping someone is ok, then actually doing it. But equally for victims, it is unacceptable they can’t remember significant events surrounding the incident due to, not the drugs in their system, not the thing someone slipped into their drink, rather their alcohol consumption, again not liquor they were plied with by a predator, even coerced into drinking via peer pressure, ever popular drinking games everywhere you turn in college, instead willing alcohol ingestion, type of liquor (usually hard liquor) they indulged in. Nor is it wrong, seeing what’s clearly going on, to put out pamphlets talking about alcohol, even one titled ‘Female Bodies and Alcohol’ bullet pointing facts that weighing less, having less muscle mass than men and a different hormonal makeup, more hormonal fluctuations than men you metabolize alcohol differently may, and probably will, feel it’s effects sooner and more acutely, therefore need to drink accordingly. Neither is it overly condescending to begin a guide “We like to think men and women are equal in all things, right,” because they’ve been brought up all their lives to believe this, which socially is true and a message very much needed; however, that doesn’t apply to science, physiology, the basis for their information. Men and women are not equal when their bodies process alcohol…Gaging then campus response, appropriateness of that response is to likewise remember, even post Todd ‘legitimate rape’ Akin, how many high profile sex assault allegations, on campus rapes have been proven false, utterly made up. Going all the way back to the Duke lacrosse case to present day stories like Jackie’s, subject of the since retracted Rolling Stone article…And when it comes to athletes, high school, college and beyond they are natural targets due to their social status, wealth; Duke’s accused played lacrosse, Brock Turner was what, a swimming star, Steubenville assailants later convicted played what, football, the Massachusetts case receiving similar sentencing and attention involved a high school basketball star mirroring Derrick Rose, following in the dubious footsteps of Kobe Bryant off the court and found not liable in is on sex scandal case plays what, basketball. Now this could just as much be about athletes who think, because they are brilliant with a ball, gifted in a sport they are god and have narrowed their perception to seeing women as objects, or it could be some women are looking to be with an athlete, mad about rejection, seeking money. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle differentiated on a case by case basis. Prime example, convoluted story of Brian Banks, charged, tired and convicted as a promising 16 year old up and coming football star, sounds an awful lot like Steubenville doesn’t it; eventually cleared after 10 years, 5 in prison, 5 on parole, contact with the Innocence Project and an accuser recant, finally getting his dream football chance. Welcome to what victims, authorities and the, trying to discern it all, public are up against…. There are a thousand and one things wrong with how universities in general, Stanford specifically, handle sexual assault, handle under age, binge drinking, any issues cropping up involving mass student safety, learning and enrichment; this guide wasn’t one of them. Discouraging fellow members of the swim team, counterpart members of the women’s swim team from writing their own victim impact statements to the judge describing their own strange, creepy, uncomfortable encounters with Brock Turner, possibly speaking to sexually predatory behavior, evidence society may need to watch him long after this incident, proof he perhaps belongs on the sex offender registry rockets to the top of the list… UVA’s ‘don’t go to frat parities’ mandate stands out as the most condescending and offensive to women. Or officials blaming the campus newspaper for their decreased reporting in sexual assaults post their publishing stories of an associate professor’s sexual harassment and assault of students; University of Kentucky staff at The Kernel (the publications name) put forth it’s the exact opposite, more people are coming to Kernel staff because they distrust the university, awareness and reassurance it’s not their fault, they can speak up and receive support, justice helps too… But backing up a step, where are the fundamentals of personal safety, party safety, bar safety, concert safety we’ve tried to drill into our citizenry, focused on this age group, people who regularly frequent above venues? Let’s too dismiss the notion general party, personal safety rules, regardless of the guide’s wording, what it covered, is sexist; watching your drink, monitoring it being poured, not leaving it alone, applies to anyone looking at the increasing numbers of homosexual, bisexual, transgender, non-traditional encounters, situations showing that as the increasing norm… . To that end what were you doing, in the case of Brock Turner’s victim, unconscious behind a dumpster; not because you had been hit over the head, physically assaulted, robbed, not because you had something dropped into your drink, suddenly had a medical episode, heart attack, seizure, asthma attack, succumbed to meningitis you thought was the flu, are homeless and want a place un-harassed by the mean public to sleep, but because you had had too much to drink, have/had no awareness of alcohol’s effect on your unique body?… Massachusetts high school basketball player convicted of raping 2 girls and receiving only probation depicted 2 girls having gone to a bedroom to lie down, reading in between the lines, to sleep it off, and being penetrated with his finger as they slept. He denied touching one girl at all, apologized to the other as well as telling the court when she didn’t protest, he thought it was ok; victim precipitating his light sentence via her impact statement saying he didn’t want to ruin his life, didn’t think jail time was necessary, hints the light sentence everyone is blaming everything from bad judges, to ‘rape culture’ to ‘white privilege’ for. Except, rewind what were you doing sleeping in some strange house, post a house party, crawling off to a room surrounded by people you barely know, don’t know at all, drunk people you barely know, don’t know at all, likely without telling a soul where you were going to sleep thinking you would be safe?…Bringing us to St. Paul’s prep school and Owen Labrie, less about alcohol and more about non-existent safety instincts…You met a boy you were chatting online with, who went to your school true, on the roof of your school; online to real life meet up’s 101 meet in a public place, then later go on a date alone once you are around person X, sense if he is a threat or not, if he is who he says he is unlike the BYU student who met with and was then raped by a guy who lied about everything—age, marital status. Agreeing with the Salon link below, it has to be about women trusting their gut, young women developing that gut, those sets of protective instincts… lone felony related to using a computer to lure a minor, divulging the path to his lighter sentence. Vanderbilt’s headline making rape case, unquestioning these young men were despicable, especially confronted by accusations an ex-boyfriend orchestrated the whole thing, the 2 photo takers didn’t step up and ask what are you doing, hey stop this, sentence more fitting for the last one to be convicted, seeing the singular reason we know about this is surveillance footage. Yet we come around again to the redundant question of what were you doing so drunk you passed out to the point they could carry you around, drag you back to his room and not once did you wake up; remembering there are accusations the former boyfriend orchestrated and manipulated things, part of that manipulation however wasn’t drugging her drink…. common denominator alcohol, way past too much of it combined beside terrible instincts; underscoring the crystal clear, none of these excuse rape, should never excuse rape, but going back to dissecting the base article, certainly explains why there is such a guide, why Stanford is trying to limit alcohol and focusing on alcohol at all. It bolsters it was written exactly as it should have been, sexist, condescending or not, judging by behavior exhibited here…. It’s blatantly obvious we will do anything but talk to our kids about culturally relevant developments regarding drinking, particularly binge drinking, dangers of alcohol poisoning, party culture, sex, consent, even what constitutes a healthy relationship then we want to come down with the fury of god’s own thunder on young people, young boys/men repeatedly for things they didn’t do or say proliferated by social media in addition to legal charges they face…. First seeing widespread evidence of just that when the Steubenville saga began; Michael Nodianos’ sickening ranting video about an incident he wasn’t part of was attributed to both him as well as Ma’lik Richmond and Trent Mays, though they never said any such things. Likewise every mean tweet calling her a wh*re, death threats for daring to charge her attackers that came from others landed on their shoulders….amplified when Ma’lik Richmond got out and his lawyer said patently offensive things upon his release from juvenile detention talking about how hard things had been for him…Forgotten, that’s his lawyer and part of his lawyer’s job in a high profile case like his is to present his client in the best light while he Ma’lik Richmond kept his head down and his mouth closed, no hint of criminal activity ever again years later. Identically Bock Turner’s father makes a comment about his son’s sentence, sex offender status, lifetime ban from swimming exc. being a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action and all the sudden we see the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, exactly where he got his views on women and sex, but he’s held accountable for his father’s words, he doesn’t control, the judge’s sentence he didn’t have anything to do with other than writing a statement, something every defendant in his position has the opportunity to do; no he’s not. He is solely responsible for what he did and the impact it had on his victim, society, more than enough to contend with… Because it’s not as if we’ve ever misconstrued a situation, more information through greater investigation trumped admittedly preliminary speculations on crime X committed by teen Y featured on the nightly news; wait that’s every modern case for 2 plus decades if it involves the latest heinous, depraved thing done by children/teens, drunk/high college students… On the other side a court just found Rolling Stone liable for the defamation of UVA’s college dean in reference to their story later retracted story “A Rape on Campus” and what happened to Jackie…. We will do anything but teach whether that’s sex education that includes conversations about healthy relationships, consent, too many conservatives afraid what students will actually learn about their own bodies… In direct opposition to alcohol education and how what you drink, what type/kind of liquor you consume affects your impairment level, we would prefer to stick to don’t drink your underage, don’t drink and drive you’ll die, because it’s simpler for us, doesn’t cover nuance or conflicting messages; never thinking to teach responsible drinking in preparation for when they are legally able to drink. In light of legalization in an increasing number of states marijuana education a-la what Colorado is doing, broadening it to a comprehensive explanation of the differences between all illicit drugs, their addictiveness, their danger to your body, impact of prescription drug abuse, instead of treating all illicit drugs equally, as the same kind of off the charts horrible, when teens find out that’s not true discarding every other thing you said. Oh no, absolutely not, on the contrary one California mother and police officer didn’t want her state to legalize pot because it will be more prevalent and challenging for kids to say no, though the legal age for recreational use will be identical to alcohol 21, most states have decriminalized 1-2 joint amounts, “there will be more people driving DUI, losing their lives”… Stanford bans alcohol in X quantity for select younger students, no one ever putting together k-12 education stops at 18, college students will turn 21 before graduating, maybe we ought to educate them on the differences in types of alcohol, gender differences and alcohol. Floating so much as the idea people getting sick, falling down, slurring their words is not responsible drinking; responsible drinking… returning again to the base article critique the author talks angrily and incredulously about, “What is frustrating in these ongoing campaigns, however, is the tone is almost always focused on what women can do to not get raped instead of how men can conduct themselves to not rape people.” As if it’s the simplest thing in the world, as if no decent person should ever have to be told this and it’s a sad commentary on society we do, when it’s so much more nuanced than that; here being where feminists and women’s rights activists earn parts on their bad name… 99% of the time we aren’t dealing with future sexual predators, budding serial, habitual rapists as much as drastically uninformed, misinformed young people; even Brock Turner whose behavior points to that possibility, it’s hard to know if he would never have done those things with a father who said more than his measly sentence was a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action. Ma’lik Richmond told the ABC interviewer what he thought rape was, jumping out of an alley and attacking a girl, forcing yourself on her in that context, saying he didn’t do that, elaborating later he didn’t rape anyone, see a rape going on and if he had seen one he would have stopped it. David Becker the Massachusetts high school student found guilty of rape sincerely told the judge he thought his victim’s lack of protest meant it was ok; if we want men, young men specifically to stop raping people, not to be rapists we have to give them an accurate definition, picture of what that is in all it’s facets, something we have yet to do, never mind effectively… We don’t have a rape culture in America we have a consent ambiguous culture whereby rape remains a crime on the books that is dutifully enforced, cases prosecuted and rapists put in jail every day; our problem is narrow social definitions of rape that haven’t caught up to real life scenarios, federal definitions and recent court cases…We operate on the ignorance is no excuse understanding to ensure ‘I didn’t know that’ doesn’t become a legal defense for any number of obviously illegal actions, stealing, killing, physical assault, rape where the person is fighting you, screaming, no, begging you to stop. But is it time to reexamine that in the shadow of Zach Anderson, what really happened in Steubenville, details surrounding David Becker producing that impact statement and persecutors went ahead with the rape, not a lesser degree charge, anyway, when adults are as unaware as their teens and teaching them wrongly, when education systems don’t, won’t teach these issues from a legal perspective believing it’s a family thing, the province and purview of parents to teach these values according to their moral compass, religion?… Surely we can and should do better by both women and men.
“I tried To F*ck her…And When You’re a Star You Can Do Anything…Grab Them By The P**sy”—Our Problem Isn’t Donald Trump It’s Billy Bush’s Representation Of The Male Population’s Attitude
surrounding these new allegations they missed the other half of that conversation, the person laughing, smiling, cussing and disparaging women right along with him during the 2005 video kick starting our increased scrutiny into his womanizing, possibly sexually predatory lifestyle. The “normal” guy who is not a celebrity, who is not a billionaire, who seems to be enjoying their ‘locker room’ banter, ‘bad boy’ talk as much as the man himself, Billy Bush. Billy Bush who when Donald Trump describes making a move on his co-worker Nancy; Nancy being Nancy O’Dell, not singularly raunchy in his language saying he tried to f*ck her, he moved on her like a b*tch, but admitting to doing so while knowing full well she was married; doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t think, doesn’t utter any indications of shock, he just calls it huge news. Tellingly noted from the story all Ms. O’Dell wanted was information on good quality furniture, probably mentioned in casual conversation where he then offered to take her shopping because he thought her hot, she was then subjected to a proposition for sex, a relationship, and it doesn’t stick out to Mr. Bush as glaringly inappropriate, it doesn’t cause a gasp or a pause, instead the opposite, a laugh? From the normal person who enjoys about as much notoriety as local news anchors, remembering, though yes, Access Hollywood is an entertainment television show dishing on all the stars, it is still a place of work demanding professionalism….Jaw droppingly horrible is what happens when they get off Access Hollywood’s bus, where he plays a perverted wingman to Donald Trump and tries to cajole the pretty actress into hugging Trump then himself, also married 7 years at the time, merely to touch, to get close to a woman they think is hot. Trump elaborating to now obvious rolling cameras, Melania said this was ok; sure if it had amounted to a simple hug, graciously indulging a fan, exhibiting the kind of sociability celebrities often do, is expected of them, but again based on contexts of the previously held conversation, no one thinks so. Yes Billy Bush was forced to issue an apology upon the video’s airing during which he offered little excuse, unlike presidential nominee Donald Trump, other than he was younger then, calling his words stupid, facing suspension, followed by termination from his hosting job on Today, yet to understand how important the issue is for women, you have to equally understand how rare that is….Sadly when those alleged misbehaviors, accusations involve sex, well look how long it took people like Whoopi Goldberg to acknowledge Bill Cosby was probably guilty…Simultaneously reinforcing sentiments like whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, whatever happens in Hollywood happens in Hollywood, when you reach stardom you’re insulated from ‘little things’ like prosecution for sexual misconduct, sexual assault and rape are the stories coming out of the industry where women have been told by attorneys at law possessing a legal, ethical obligation they don’t have a case. Less on legal merits and more on their personal belief, or not, of the victim compared to who the accuser is… . How uncharacteristic it is to see a Roger Ailes be removed from his powerful position as it is for accusers to be silenced via money, intimidation, career demolishment, how long things at Fox remained Ailes’ personal locker room, exemplifying the worst of locker rooms according to one article; the outraging reality there may be more than a little truth to Billy Bush’s lawyer’s defense for his client he would face termination if he had stood up to Trump, seeing Roger Ailes’ Fox New before charges became public, independent investigators were brought in….it’s the ridiculous excuses used by Trump defenders largely members of the general public not political operatives, campaign surrogates to discredit an approaching double digit number of women coming forward and telling their stories, echoed and accepted by the larger deciding, voting public at minimum. Wildest one stating first class airplane seats didn’t have moveable armrests, retractable armrests in the 80’s…Likewise she’s ‘lying’ because she says he was like an octopus, it was like he had 6 arms or something, his hands were everywhere, but everybody knows octopus have 8 arms—case dismissed…Network legal analysts impressed with Summer Zervos’ attention to detail, imitating his voice, the way he spoke to her that night enhancing believability… When we literally have to ask are women people as opposed to sex objects, property, things, entities that exist solely for men’s sexual fantasies, sexual pleasure, sadly where we clearly are throughout some parts of society in America, in a place called the free world…It’s Nancy O’Dell, who despite her public figure job is a human being, wife and mother, having to take time during her current anchoring position at Entertainment Tonight to address what Trump said about her; humiliating conversations she had to have with her husband and children before they heard/saw that video on the news or internet, happening because she reported to work on that day, happily accepted an offer to look at furniture from Donald Trump who has built and furnished how many lavish, top of the line hotels. We have a therapist for Andrea Tantaros, once Fox News host, backing up her lawsuit claims about Ailes’ behavior; stopping momentarily to digest her boss, Roger Ailes’, actions, persistent, constant sexual harassment sent this woman into therapy, according to her suit she was demoted, finally fired because she would not sleep with said boss. Knowing this medical, psychological professional came forward on her own, no prompting from her patient, no pleadings to substantiate her accusations…Gretchen Carlson who filed the first publicly known lawsuit against Fox News, Ailes, predating Tantaros, and won just revealed to Saon.com her contract kept her at Fox; question being are we surprised taking stock of morals clauses and dictates employees in any job past minimum wage are subjected to, things employers think they hold rights to control, benign own time activities suddenly off limits. And while someone is putting together pieces to turn Ailes’ rise, subsequent fall into a mini-series, Carlson is testifying to congress, examining forced arbitration practices, about her contract, the forced arbitration she legally had to fight, that would have kept her harassment case out of court. Commenting to Time magazine she doesn’t think human resources departments are equipped to handle sex harassment, corporations training courses are making a difference despite millions spent…Natasha Stoynoff was just doing her job during what happened, Summer Zervos didn’t come to his hotel seeking him out for a tryst, a rendezvous but in hopes of working with Trump, learning from Trump the business man, excited to work for him, meeting held in a room at a hotel he owns less weird and red flag inducing because he owned it…. . Khloe Kardashian at least has additional options, choices; ordinary people, non-celebrities looking for their next venture, aren’t always so lucky. Countering Alex Jones who in part said “it’s not sexual assault if women are throwing themselves at you;” it very well could be when women are told to go up to him, fawn all over him after appearing randomly in their dressing room, if they are led to believe it increases their chances of winning or is even a prerequisite for staying in the pageant. Is very much so understanding at least some pull behind participating in Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe, the 3 branched pageant sphere Trump owned and ran for 2 decades is scholarships winners receive to the New York film academy, modeling portfolios, a chance to travel and talk about social issues as a goodwill ambassador. And these incidents don’t merely happen to people seeking employment in Hollywood, to get their faces on television anchoring national, local news, journalistic careers following celebrities if they can’t be one; echoing domestic violence they happen to ordinary citizens daily in the most unlikely of places. Roughly 5 years ago an exposé was done prompted by teens describing sex acts demanded by their managers at McDonald’s, Starbucks and Taco Bell; teens who thought they needed to give in to those demands to keep their job they depended on to live, help pay for school, help supporting their family, to get a good start in the employment world build a résumé. 1 in 3 working teens possessing standard beginner, fast food, minimum wage, retail jobs reported sexual advances via adult supervisors; McDonald’s fellow employees weren’t surprised stating “don’t take it personal that’s how he is with every girl.” Taco Bell’s errant, pervy manager impregnated one teen working all of 2 months and attacked another her first day. Some may remember the phone scam where mangers are called by a person impersonating police and told to do sex acts on teen female employees. Anyone tempted to think that was then, things have changed because of such cases, there’s the Brooklyn case, 6 months old, were a teen girl interviewing for a high profile law firm receptionist position was coerced into stripping and forced into having sex; getting the job, on her second day is told she needed an STD test to keep her employment position, never returning, instead filing a lawsuit. This is what it’s like being a teen and stepping into the world of work in 2010, 2016, not 1960; stories like theirs why the Trump family got such backlash for their approach to workplace sexual harassment, ideas women can suddenly pull up stakes from steady income jobs, they should be the ones forced to leave (not to put up with poor treatment, taking responsibility for how they handle it) when others are doing wrong…Horrifying how early it starts for young girls growing into women…dismissive, denying reactions, demeaning responses spawning several social media memes #NotOkay, a magazine writer’s tweet me your first assaults. Going first, telling her own stunning encounter story “old man on city bus grabs my p**sy and smiles at me, I’m 12.”…Kate Spencer…Making a list of: “all the times I’ve been touched, followed, hollered at, screamed at, threatened and chased by men, all the penises I’ve been shown without giving permission,” contemplating adding that list to her Salon article seeing another fellow woman recently do the same, finding it empowering plus depressing to read. Being pulled behind buildings, flashed, seeing a man jerk of while your kayaking with friends, sent harassing e-mails, phone calls, threats to come to her house by a student met at a young leaders conference only to have police “look at her like she was crazy;” how much is one woman supposed to endure, why is life in western civilization this kind of endurance test?… What Donald Trump, his supporters, his defenders and his shoulder shrugging apathetic voters don’t understand is, it isn’t just talk, talk like this leads inevitably to action, action being the rape, sexual assault, sexual battery of women leaving lasting scars on them and the country.
Hillary Clinton: The Gaffes That Weren’t There Part 2—Why The FBI Should Have Been Investigating State Department Work Culture, Policy Lapses Not Clinton Alone
; the republican spin machine utterly convinced the exposed records gap, former secretary of state Clinton’s, ‘hidden,’ ‘missing’ e-mail(s), were concealing critical information on their favorite pet obsession, Benghazi. Never mind it never materialized, after committee shake ups, embarrassing admissions this was actually an effort on the part of some to derail her presidential aspirations, whistleblowers denigrated as ‘damn liars,’ on national television, 11 hour testimony sessions that saw panel members responsible for said desired questioning bickering like children in a sand box while Clinton radiated calm; Tray Gowdy got one thing right in naming military failures, poor communication and poor security conditions on the ground weeks, months before those fatal, twin night attacks driving forces behind the death of 4 Americans in that volatile region of Libya. Still the cat was out of the bag so to speak, report not yet complete on one major congressional investigation, final price tag 7 million taxpayer dollars, they were vowing to begin another scrutinizing why and how Hillary Clinton had so successfully skirted government record keeping mandates, into what they were sure was her illegal private server. Assumptions made without having any foreknowledge of the state department’s polices, IT set up, probably having to eventually go through written laws detailing parameters on acceptable record keeping at that level; unable to adequately follow laws themselves threatening subpoenas they had no authority to issue in the process of their investigating Benghazi….Ink barely dry on one report, incidentally finding no wrongdoing by Clinton, fact lost in speculation of what wrongdoing they might have uncovered, amidst swirling hype generated by Hillary Clinton killed my friends t-shirts and the impassioned, misinformed speech of a mother whose son was lost in Benghazi. Already having touched off an internal review at state, a looming FBI investigation, congressional republicans soon unhappy with the FBI’s final conclusive finding of non-criminal recklessness striking just shy of gross negligence; they are demanding FBI documents and promising their own inquiry. While America has been titillated with regular e-mail releases, indicating personality quirks, favorite foods, TV shows, navigating her fax machine and titillated again with FBI releases of new e-mails, their investigation notes pulling away the curtain behind their findings, creating a trickledown, ‘dripping’ effect impacting her poll numbers, feeding perceptions of her ‘untrustworthiness’, accusations of criminality, questions of how can it not be prosecutable gross negligence? Based on FBI director James Comey’s unprecedented press conference, finger pointing calling the FBI either weak or in ‘crooked Hillary’s’ pocket, probably both; origins of further lock her up chants, shouted, usually at Trump rallies, Hillary for prison 2016 anti-campaign slogans. Beside salacious media reporting, who has never gotten this right, announcing DOJ (department of justice) investigations the actual department of justice never planned on initiating; even exonerated her from any maleficence in deleting deemed personal e-mails, had they been on the state department system or her own. Naming FBI just released e-mail contents some new revelation when it was instead merely continued release of information that resulted in their ultimate finding, turning it into horserace journalism about elections for the Whitehouse leaving off critical contexts, logical interpretations, countering politicians and known Clinton rivals who are fixated on her 30,0000 lost e-mails by reminding them there are no longer a mysterious 30,000 e-mails where could be found any number of criminal indicators; rather she turned over roughly 30,000 at various requests, FBI officials able to recover another roughly 30,000 from the hard drive they obtained off that infamous server. Absent, in either set of documents recovered, testimony given, their hoped for smoking gun either on Benghazi itself, evidence she knew she was ‘breaking the law,’ flouting procedure, going against standard policy. Worse they uncovered, aide questions and help desk confusion because Clinton’s e-mail lacked familiar .gov identifiers so people knew it was her, not spam; concerns failing to make it up supervisory chains of command. Conversations about keeping X topics secure, not to send her sensitive, classified materials at X time, explanations to follow; caution showing the opposite of a disregard for security. Continuing, despite accusations threats were made about questioning her e-mail set up, there has been no release of the threat maker’s name(s), anonymous John, Jane Doe equivalent pseudonyms denoting either threat makers or who those threats were supposedly made to within FBI internal documents released to both congress and the media. Or journalists would have reasonably used supplied anonymity markers FBI personnel chose in summarizing document contents during broadcast segments, as they have in similar case reporting…Often missed is why the FBI decided against a criminal indictment, legal precedent of there has to be clear intent to commit actions on par with treason, clear willfulness in giving classified materials to people unauthorized to have them, think David Petraeus giving materials to his mistress, aside, apart from people’s testimony they can’t produce, doesn’t seem to exist; they found a state department in complete electronic disarray for this being nearly 20 years into the 21st century. They found a lackadaisical work culture toward securing sensitive documents, subject threads that should have been some level of classified generated on a secure server, computer, began on un-secure state department computers, personal smartphones, blackberries or i-pads. They found a state department unaware people use those devices in a plethora of workplaces nationwide, used them at state to expediently communicate information between support staff and officials, official to official, unaware they needed secure, encrypted versions for staff and their top aides. And unaware of her non-government e-mail address use during her entire tenure as secretary of state; surely apprised of records gaps at the national archives, since a staffer from there spoke to varying news outlets, going all the way back to the 64th secretary of state, Clinton was the 67th. They found a history of government employees, former secretaries of state, ambassadors who used both personal and government e-mail, names included; they found the state department’s own categorized systemic weaknesses still present under a new secretary of state, independent 3 years having gone by and a should be evolution in policy to keep up with changing technology, to adapt to current, shifting situations namely continued hacks, hacking attempts on government systems; they found a state department equally as culpable in what Hillary Clinton did as Clinton herself….
