The thing I struggle with (and have for years) is getting our overall educational system to do what she wants: social competence classes every day. The basis for my work is doing exactly that. What so many educators don't realize is that this positive school climate philosophy isn't just slogans and posters, it should be the foundation for how every person understands the social contract of the school. When that happens, of course there will still be conflict but the desperation and anger people feel will much less because they have faith in the system and adults to be fair. To clarify, my point about not caring what she taught was not passivity not apathy; it simply didn't matter along side her horrible parenting. Not to mention instead of pursuing a career in her field, making her living doing whatever it is she studied, instead she's teaching others how to do so.
