We cannot frame this as a war between Islam and the west not singularly because that would be an abject failure of epic proportions framing it as a religious war of ideologies, which are varying and can be had by many people in many different ways while still fostering co-existence. But because we don’t have the right to condemn differing religious beliefs when we have our own extremists here willing to resort to violence on behalf of their religious passions, convictions….What we can do, get far more articulate and specific about what we are against, what we will not tolerate, extremist violence, who we will not allow into the country, those espousing extremist violence, independent under what cloak they try to mask it…End extremism and you don’t have to worry about religions or guns.
